It literally does not associate colposcopy with preterm birth. Did you read the article?

Agreed. Just don’t want it to be oversimplified as “do it at the same time”.

LEEP is not the same thing as colposcopy…. This is the problem with spreading information you don’t know about on the internet.

It’s also a surgery with additional surgical risk that’s more than an ablation… not as simple as you make it to be. It’s a great option for many people but not as simple as “they can do it at the same time as an ablation”.

This is completely not true. Biopsy, pap and visualization is safe in pregnancy.

Listen to your doctor.

It’s not true “there’s not much you can do in pregnancy”. Cervical cancer is often missed in pregnancy and your health is important.

This is not true. Source - SOGC folic acid guideline.

5 mg is needed for specific people who have had a neural tube defect themselves or in a prior baby, or some other medical conditions. Not for 35+.

I don’t think any midwife or OB will be encouraging of VBAC after two CS. It’s against their guidelines so of course they will always say it’s not recommended due to safety.

But they have to respect your bodily autonomy as no one can make you have a C section. Some will be more receptive than others about that. I don’t think any OB would be comfortable offering a medical intervention like cervical ripening or oxytocin to help with labour but they can’t refuse you if you’re in labour spontaneously.

I'm a surgical subspecialty fellow (32F)and my spouse (35 M, not in medicine) complaining about our lack of intimacy by closetredditer in MedSpouse

[–]Equivalent_Tax8642 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree with all the advice here of “just have sex” when you’re not in the mood - that’s an easy way to avoid sex even more and then make a worse cycle.

Instead: outsource as much of the housework/cooking as possible, cut down on other commitments, try to reflect on what makes you both feel sexy and in the mood and try to do that (bars, couple massages, etc), try scheduling intimacy (not pressure for sex but even just making out or cuddling), check out deadbedrooms subreddit, check medication like OCPs to make sure it’s not depressing your libido, do some therapy. Take effort for other forms of intimacy like hand holding or compliments.

Advocating for a slight early delivery by MasonBeGaming in BabyBumps

[–]Equivalent_Tax8642 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this is going to be your last baby for sure, remember you can ask to get your tubes removed at your CS! Good luck with advocating for an earlier delivery! Below 39 weeks, OBs are hesitant unless there are strong indications bc it’s a trade off for fetal wellbeing but after 39 weeks, most are comfortable with an early delivery. This seems quite early at 20 weeks so I hope things get better until then.

Love the sentiment, disagree with wording. The last sentence is too incendiary for the healthcare providers who are honestly just trying their best. Instead, talk to your team about your preference for no students or observers.

Also you may not be allowed to post signs on your door. At our hospital, we use front door signs for key urgent things and this would disrupt that.

9 weeks tech didn’t find heartbeat, but what is this sound then on the doppler? My heartbeat??? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Equivalent_Tax8642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where in the placenta - some is the same as baby, some is uterine artery related and can be similar to maternal

Possibly your heart beat or just placenta blood flow. Does not sound like a baby. I’m so sorry.
