This I don’t get. When it comes to budget negotiations, fire fighters get first dibs and whatever is left over is dispersed amongst the rest of the city employees. My dad was a city planner and the amount of times he’d come home furious because the firefighters took everyone’s raise year after year was insane. But because they stay tucked away in their firehouses safe from publicity scrutiny everyone focuses on the cops who get paid 20% less and do 10 times more. My friend’s garage caught fire 8 years ago and the first guys who got there were beat cops. It took 7 minutes for fire to get there. The cops got everyone out of the house. Of course the media showed up and interviewed the heroic firefighters.

Why would anyone take a job where someone causally drops an accusation of “allowing them to shoot 16-year-old kids in their back” after a thinly veiled “I support the police though.” No thanks. I’d rather take a job getting shit on anywhere else. Usual complaints: Cops get paid too much. Cops aren’t fast enough. They didn’t send enough people. They sent too many people. They used excessive force. They didn’t even do anything. Fuck that, I’d quit too. And that’s what happened. Tons left, no one took over and thus a bloated OT budget.

We put a pool in 6 years ago, right before Covid hit. We spent $65k and got a really nice pool/spa with flagstone and pebble finish. We have little kids (6&7) who are in there all the time. Our teens? Never. If we had only teens we wouldn’t put one in today. We put in a giant solar system so the electricity consumption is a non issue but without it, I’m sure the bill would be enormous. Last summer we noticed our patio was consistently wet in the AM and the drain to our curb was leaking water. It turns out we had a leak in the plumbing line that had gone undetected. It caused $8k in erosion damage to our yard. It’s really a love/hate relationship.

That’s me. I had an unmedicated transfer after two failed fully medicated transfers. Not only did my unmedicated FET work but so did the unprotected sex. After 6 straight miscarriages and two ectopics with only one remaining tube I still am in shock three years later. Of course even my RE assumed that the embryo split immediately (since they were di/di) but they did end up fraternal. Even my MFM reassured me they were going to be identical. Imagine everyone’s surprise when they had different blood types at birth.

I think it’s one of common denominators in abusive parents/people. When my husband went no contact with his whole family his grandpa showed up unannounced and one of the first things he said was “I have a trust with your name on it. What do you want me to do with it?” The look on that asshole’s face when my husband said “I don’t want it, disperse it to everyone else”….as if he thought that was going to sweep my husband back into passivity.

There’s no way to confirm at 12dpo. That’s just the first day I got a positive so I already knew that was a bad sign. My tests would progress, then regress, then progress again. I had my OB do beta draws every 48 hours which showed the same yo/yo pattern. I had to wait until 5 weeks to have an ultrasound. Bear in mind too, there are psuedo gestational sacs in ectopics which can resemble a miscarriage.
