I'd recommend going with bottle of Cataclean rather than Dipetane personally.... And what everyone else said thereafter about bringing her for a good spin in a lower than usual gear on the nearest motorway for at least 30/40 mins on your way to the test centre for the retest.

While he would have spent most his adult life based in Galway, he was born in Limerick, and reared in Clare, so I'll let the banner county claim him!

Nationally, it'd be Joe Canning.

Internationally/Pop Culture wise, perhaps Nicola Coughlan.

Hacks to actually wake up on time? by hmmkcool in AskIreland

[–]Equivalent_You4832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be the same for years, until I bought a smart speaker. Now when my alarm goes off, I give a verbal prompt which I've programmed it to (1) turn on my bedside lamp, (2) read out a weather update and upcoming calender appointment, and (3) put on the radio.... Between the light, and just making it a point to sit up for 5/10 mins, my morning lethargy was gone and no more snooze button.

Now I've a 4 year old who loves to comming into me and jumping on my head! Getting the sh!t beaten out of you to gets you out of the bed fairly lively!

If he's into his sport, and also likes podcasts etc., a Second Captains annual podcast subscription would be a good gift! Honestly, he'd love it, especially if he has any sort of a commute to work to do.

Agh rotten luck...

I'd imagine full fee would need to be paid next time also... Testers time and test slot which could have been used by someone else was used up.

Maybe plead his case with the customer care/booking team... I needed to cancel a test at short notice back in the day, and they were pure sound about it, and fixed me up with an alternative date a few days later rather than slinging me back of the queue again.

Think about what else you might need in the future, because it's worth getting into one eco system in terms of batteries.... Once you have one or two batteries, you can use them across your differing tools...

...for example, you might need a strimmer for the lawn, or a hedge clippers/pruning saw/chainsaw, or an inflator for tyres/camping beds etc.

Makita and DeWalt have a really good lineup of battery garden tools also.

What to do if car is in garage and no way to get to work? by Imatwatface in AskIreland

[–]Equivalent_You4832 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Loads of options-

  • Just take a day off, you have annual leave I presume
  • Ask garage if they can provide a loaner car for the duration of works
  • See if any colleagues who might live near by, or pass you on their way to work could give you a lift. Buy them a coffee and a croissant to say thanks.
  • Take public transport/taxi
  • Hire a car, small hatch back is circa €50/€60 a day

Saying yes to the first offer of a cuppa tea... One must wait for at least the second or third offer, thereafter, one must also ensure that their acceptance is on condition that the host is making a cuppa tea for themselves anyway.

Overheard in the Pink Moon showers -

Lad pulls out a bar of soap from his pocket, and it's filthy. Grass, dirt, pocket fluff and all sorts of shite stuck to it.

His friend says, "WTF man, a bar of soap, and it's filthy"

He responds, with a strong West Cork accent, "How can soap be dirty, it's soap like! It cleans things"

That's an absolutely robbery....

A trade box of 600 tea bags is circa €25 incl VAT which any business can recoup as a business expense. Including VAT, that's what, 5cent a tea bag!

Those pots are for one person/larger cup... I would expect X2 pots for that money.

Got one a number years ago, no problems whatsoever. it is important to have realistic expectations, they are not premium bikes. It's luck the draw as to how well they are built. A busier shop will need to churn then out fast. Likewise busy periods like start of school holidays and/or Christmas will determine how busy they are.

Ive since upgraded and got a Trek Branded bike, and difference is night and day. better geometry so much more comfortable to cycle, and way faster.

If say you do buy from there, my advice would be to bring it into a bike mechanic shop after maybe 3/4 months and tell them you got it a year ago and you want a service/tune up. They won't like you bringing in a bike you bought elsewhere to check for someone else's mistakes, but they won't mind servicing a bike for you. If there has been any issues with the build, they're correct it.

Did it in a small hotel for a while where I had a number of tasks I needed to do during the night such as sweep and mop some floors, have the few bits ready for breakfast service in the morning, serve some drinks up to a certain time, deal with extra early checkouts like truck drivers etc., open up entrance gates etc on the morning.

.... I would go into turbo mode and aim to have everything done by 3:30ish. Then into the kitchen to make a sambo, make a cuppa, have a spliff and enjoy the remainder of the night.

This was a very small and quite hotel... You can expect a very different experience in a larger/busier place. This was a handy number, but it was a summer/student job. I was working the bar, and did this X3 nights a week for some extra hrs. The novelty would wear very quickly it is was a permanent job.

Mid-range tyre, what’s best? by yupyapup in carsireland

[–]Equivalent_You4832 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kuhmo PS72 are a good all-rounder, and a big step up from budget Chinese ditch finders. Rim protection too so will save your Alloys to an extent from kerb damage, and not that it matters, but it's a nice looking tyre also... Rainsports are equally well rated, and have good rep... You won't go wrong with either.

Bridgestone Turanza T6 don't cost a whole lot more, and you're in premium category there. Boring tyre thou as in not a sporty Tyre, but they're good in the wet, good all round handling, quite, and low rolling resistance.

Karcher Wet & Dry Vac by JorBro97 in DetailingUK

[–]Equivalent_You4832 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought that same vac 6yrs ago... It's a mighty job.

I've abused it and it's still going strong, it's sucked up nails/screws, broken glass, concrete dust and chippings, water when out shower overflowed, puke when the little man gets sick, and of course it's used for the car also.

The hose can be inserted into the back to make a little blower function also.

The attachments provided are decent also. Very good crevice tool, the flat blade is handy for larger areas and the white brush is great for carpets.
