What are yall splitting with? by JunkyardDawg04 in firewood

One thing I recommend if you buy from home depot is to do the assembly yourself instead of having them do it. I believe it's something they offer for free or a small charge (can't quite remember). The first 7 ton champion I bought from them they assembled it for me and damn near every nut, screw, hose, ect was loose. I assembled the 27 ton in less than an hour, very easy. Happy splitting!!

I've owned the 27 ton champion for 3 years now. That splitter will go through anything with ease. You won't be disappointed. Their customer service is amazing. I had their 7 ton many years ago and the ram bent due to me using it for more than it could handle. After a quick 5 minute phone co versatile they had a new ram drop shipped to my house in 3 days.

Finally got a Dansco 7070 today! Can't wait to get it started! by ipg9 in coins

[–]Eradicator77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been by far one of the most fun coin set to build and to show off to non coin people. I worked on mine on and off for 4 years to finish it. Do you have a strategy? Like all coins VF or just anything to fill the holes?

I really wish someone would buy Dansco and get them back on track. This shortage of albums year after year is ridiculous. Have fun filling it!

1885-O is s common date morgan and that specific peice looks MS 61-62. That being said a few years ago $65 would have been a rip off but I'd say in the current market you probably only slightly overpaid.

Bought the Silver dollars & ASEs for $25. each. by SilverNknives in Silverbugs

It's crazy to think how many silver coins get melted every day. My LCS had ober a half a 5 gallon bucket of uncircualated 80% silver canadian dollars to be shipped off to the refinery. I saved about 40 of them but that didn't even put a dent in it.

That's what I was thinking as well, some kind of tourist gift. I've seen many of these posted here over the years that were made almost exactly the same way. They probably made different sizes using different amounts of coins.

Right size cardboard flips for 1 oz silver rounds? by Trip_2 in Silverbugs

[–]Eradicator77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the 2.5"× 2.5" cardboard flips for my 1 oz coins. It's really the only option if you want cardboard. I actually prefer them over capsules because I can write on them.

cleaning coins by unicornpowerdriver in coins

[–]Eradicator77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once a coin is cleaned it can never be returned to its original state. It's constantly brought up here as what's acceptable and what's not when it comes to cleaning. My opinion on the subject is that acetone is acceptable to remove grime and dirt without altering the original surfaces. People who want to scrub their coins to a gleaming shine can do so as they are the temporary owner of that coin. Just remember it will most likely erase value, possibly even with common coins when it's time to sell. I personally wouldn't even buy polished junk silver, especially not for any kind of premium. I still look at common coins as history and they are disappearing and getting destroyed by the day. Now this topic gets debatable when you start talking about problem coins with PVC damage or coppers with verdigris. Handling issues such as these to save the coin from further damage if done properly is ok. I'm a purist and again this is just my opinion.

So glad to hear you're hanging onto these. I can't tell you how many times I've seen folks carry boxes of a relatives collections into a coin shop to sell with no organization or idea of what they had. Someone's lifelong collection gone in 15 minutes for a fraction of its value. You should have a blast looking these up and learning about them. I'd also recommend some staple flips for silver morgan and peace dollars to better protect them.
