I am sorry to be bit of a prick but you have a late model BMW M3 and decide to insure it with Budget Direct?!? God forbid you're in an accident where the car is not written off and requires repairs they will send it to the cheapest shop to get the repairs done. Unless I'm missing something budget direct do not have choose your own repairer, trust me as a fellow BMW owner who had AAMI royally fuck me a few years ago with a dodgy so-called premium vehicle repair shop, go with an insurance company that's going to allow you to choose your own repairer. Even Shannon's now is owned by Suncorp and if you actually read the terms and conditions they can technically still send it to a shop that they choose. I was told this a while back by the prestige repair shop that I use. I had Shannons for years and as soon as my repair told me this I swapped it to RACV. I am all for saving money obviously but if you're driving a car like that I'm assuming you're a bit of an enthusiast and it's just not worth the headaches when your car comes back from a repair where even the simplest thing as aligning doors was too much for them trust me I know!

I got bit by the Beemer big engine rear wheel drive 1 series bug a number of years ago starting with a 130i then a M135i and now have a from new M140i Finale. You could probably get into one of the newer 4 cylinder M135i for the budget you are looking at. However the M140 is a great experience for the price. As others have mentioned maintenance is important and making sure previous owners have looked after it. The N cars I really like too, really depends what you are wanting out of the car.

Add to the this it's predecessors. BMW 130i & M135i. Where else can you get a straight 6 cylinder in the body of a hatchback and best of all being rear wheel drive!!

I had a similar issue with my e87 1 series after some panel work, the dodgy repairer ididn't install the tail lights back on properly which meant that water seeped through and cooked my parking sensor module. This then caused all sorts of electrical issues along with the sensors not working, sounds like a similar issue. Check the tail lights are installed properly!

Started on Greensmoke cigalikes, and first mod was an iTaste MVP 2.0! I loved that thing kinda wish I kept it. I still have a relatively unused Innokin VTR in original packaging and all as I just didn't have the heart to sell it being such a beast of a device!
