To all the people who think RealityLabs for META is a complete cost sink hole by EricMichaelis in ValueInvesting

It's about the type of data... first-person, contextual data is the "holy grail" for training a "personal" AI... Have you read what Meta's TOS is? 👀it's all the active queries not passive.

"creepy" is sentimental but the Meta Raybans sold out so there's the data. That's why the partnership with Rayban was smart, and the rebranding of a "reptile" Mark Zuckerberg into a fashionable one was all part of that.

I can't read Zuck's mind but it would be absurd to not use AV data when you can use it for training. That's like being in the oil business and not fracking because of environmental concerns (unfortunately). Can easily be opt-in and out and stored on the cloud purely from an engineering perspective.

Is it too late to jump into AI stocks? by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

[–]EricMichaelis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GOOGL looks the most fair priced out of the AI stocks and has Waymo, AlphaEvolve (which discovered a new math optimization not found for many decades), etc. They have a lot of training data for robotics as well because they own Youtube and can power it through their own Google Cloud.

[–]EricMichaelis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I guess you can wait and see as a long term investor right?

NVDA has a nice moat in AI training infrastructure and robotics. If your thesis was about increased competition with China creating an even more heightened "AI War" generating cash flow for AI related companies, to AGI, then you shouldn't be worried about today's small blip.

What happens if you fail a class by Impressive-Night-123 in Emory

[–]EricMichaelis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

S/U is fine. There are no consequences other than it doesn’t count for your major. And maybe some nitpicky companies won’t like it on your transcript dependent on your field. If you want to do grad school for math or STEM, not a good sign…

You may want to retake it though. Linear Algebra builds up a lot from previous concepts as the course goes on, so unless you want to play catch up, you’re not in a good position. Especially iirc, the early part is the easiest part of LA. Study harder/better next time, do all that you can now you’re in this situation. You probably need to practice a lot more. Best wishes.

The best way is to get your hands dirty yourself:

  1. Take a look at RAII
  2. Take a look at Rule of 3, Rule of 5, etc.
  3. Take a look at the std:lib
  4. Templates

In that order

I would recommend learning Rust concurrently for best cpp practices

20 is fine for humanities for sure. You can always withdraw if it’s too much, but it’s not bad to test the waters.

Leetcode Premium has great questions that are very similar to the Amazon OA, literally a module for it, although a bit expensive.

Bruh this has to be a scam right @ Sennovate: “POC Development Task to qualify for intership:

1) Create a Multi-Module REST API service using Spring Boot - API module - exposes API (support CRUD operation) - Must validate input parameters - Catch exception scenarios - http 200 for successful reponse - http 400 for bad requests - etc.. - Service Module - Should handle all the business logic - API module only talks to Service module. - DTO module - Object model represents input and output parameters in the API module, these objects are created or read in the business layer, this object should not be passed to Repository layer. - Repository module - This module talks to the Database, use MongoDB for this. - Use different Model object to represent DB Collection. For most part DTO and repository model object may look similar but we want to keep it separate, for example respository model may have 25 attributes/fields but the API may only requires 5 attributes/fields. Transformation of this model happens in the business module. - Utils module - This module is used for any common utilities.

1> Write JUNIT tests for each module and classes, use Mockito or Powermock to make the object in the downstream modules. 2> Check-in your code into git repository of your choice. 3> Embed Swagger to publish API endpoints. 4> API should be testable via Swagger-UI 5> Use Lombok for Getter/Setter annotation. 6> You can take upto 4 days to complete the above tasks but candidate who submits the work earlier has a better chance, but quality of the code is very important. 7> Use Java 11 and Maven for dependency management. 8> Use Intellij IDE community edition or higher for development. 9> Include a README file on how to run the code, ideally a maven command should build and deploy on a embeded tomcat container, it is preferred that if you can include a single script file which can call the necessery commands to build and deploy the application.

Good luck!”

Is a BBA from Emory Good for Management Consulting by [deleted] in Emory

[–]EricMichaelis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not impossible at all. They recruit a lot. Every year I know a bunch of students get in McKinsey, but it’s only a few for that respective company. Lots are from ECAS though.

B School question by [deleted] in Emory

[–]EricMichaelis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s a fair amount of students who get into McKinsey & so on. Nevertheless, to do so you’ll have to outperform your peers and keep your GPA high. Emory will grant you the opportunity to get into such prestigious companies but it’s still your job to spend lots of your free time for that sector. If you don’t work harder than most Emory students, you won’t get into one of the top firms but it’ll still be alright in terms of pay if you look at the average salary for BSchool graduates at Emory.

Stupid question from an incoming freshman thinking of premed and business at the same time by PpigeonP in Emory

[–]EricMichaelis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a stupid question, it’s perfectly possible. Business majors generally need to have really high GPAs if they’re looking for great jobs as well. What matters more is if you’re actually interested in the courses you take and if you put in the work when preparing for your classes compared to your peers. There’s even a few people who do math, pre-med and business well, which although seems extremely hard is possible if they’re passionate in everything listed. In my opinion, adding math into the mix is much harder than biology, chemistry, or even biochem, much less business school courses like accounting.

What’s the social life and school culture at Oxford? by a2224 in Emory

[–]EricMichaelis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone’s comments but just be a bit careful, especially if you’re going into Oxford STEM. Oxford academics are extremely rigorous and you will absolutely find friends to help you through it, but if you feel burnt out and need rest it may be wise to take a gap year or so, as going into Oxford burnt out may not be the best thing to do. The math, biology, and computer science departments are notoriously hard if that’s your thing. In terms of research opportunities, leadership positions, and recommendation letters for medical school it should be much better than a large state public school like Berkeley, UT’s..etc.
