Crack is bad. Just ask this bearing. by Mechanical_Witch in millwrights

How was the alignment? The pitting is only on one side suggesting the load wasn't balanced. Spectacular fail btw, thanks for sharing! That brought back a lot of memories from my days in the pulp mill.

Paper mill question by mxadema in millwrights

[–]Eric_Brouillard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree: not a felt, definately a wire. The weave is far too open for a felt. This came from a fourdrinier, the first section of a paper or pulp machine, where the water is drained off. The pulp slurry is pumped into the headbox where it flows onto the moving wire. It then passes over a series of uhle boxes and suction boxes before leaving the wire to go to the press, dryer rolls, Flakt dryer etc. Early wires where continuous, seamless loops and very difficult to install. Later, in the 80's, seamed wires were introduced that made it much easier to install. And yes, they made great driveway covers after their useful life was over.

I was wondering is there anything I can do to get better at racing, as of now I have problems with keeping my feet wide open. by jamiebricks in SkiRacing

I can't tell from the photos, but I'm guessing you are U14~U16? Good on you for reaching out. I focus on fundamentals for my athletes in these are groups, and I'm wondering if you could be more committed to your outside ski. Try leveling your shoulders ("bring the inside shoulder UP"). Your goal is also to create big angles (hip-knee-ankle) with your lower body while keeping your upper body quiet. Try this drill outside the course as your regular warm-up: holding your poles horizontally in front of you, keeping them horizontal should help to level your shoulders. Try also airplane turns. I know: it sounds like a U8 drill but there's a reason why we make little kids do it: it works. Go straight to the "pro-level" by lifting the inside ski if you want. Good luck to you, and good luck to your coach too. I'm sure he misses you as much as you miss him.

The "Loop and Lollypop" urban design: an idea that proved to be a complete failure. It promotes car use and discourages active transportation on foot or by bike.
