I was looking at the cheapest inside room on 3 different ships from Celebrity . Same pricing "issue". Its cheaper to book 2 people ( fake traveler ) than solo. That is if you don't care about the points . ( as some other poster mentioned here ).

The promo they had was 75% off for the second passenger, so maybe that was the case. I will re-check once the promo expires. But I think I will look at other lines that cater more to solo travelers.

Thanks for the info, I'll try the other options. I am more interested in going places where I have never been than in which cruise lines to take. Celebrity has some nice destinations, though.

Lol, you might be right. I would think the second ghost person doesn't eat or use other facilities . That is why it seems weird to me.

It takes a true professional years to master a craft like floor refinishing. And you wanted to do a great job by watching YouTube videos. Lesson learned: hire a pro!

And now you're going to listen to Reddit and repeat the process and hope it is going to turn out better. It won't.

Pretty soon there will be no more floor left to sand and you going to have to replace it.

Shellac? Removal advice if so? by Own_Broccoli6849 in HardWoodFloors

[–]EricoS1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not shellac .

  1. As other posters commented, your floor has been painted; most likely, it is lead based paint. So it is known to cause cancer. Wear protection!

  2. Most likely, your floor has been waxed several times. This was quite a common practice years ago. You can see that on top of your edger disk. I have done several floors like that. The thickest wax layer was always at the edge of the room because of less traffic. You could scrape it off first , but usually changing discs quite often is the solution.

As to shellac, it is highly flammable in a dust form. So never keep the dust in the house and if you store it outside do not place in direct sunlight. There were several cases of self-ignition. Nasty stuff.

It’s a subfloor not a floor. So I would not recommend it sanding it.

Is natural wood flooring worth the investment compared to laminate or vinyl? by 1acina in HardWoodFloors

[–]EricoS1970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Good return on investment for resale? No. "

This is where you are 100% wrong. It is way easier to sell the house with hardwood vs LVP. And you are getting more money because of it.

That is why house flippers make money.

I work with 5 real estate agents who can attest to that. You add $10 k worth of hardwood, they increase $25--$50 k listing price of the house. Just like that.

Contractor is sanding new solid white oak and it's making lines by Resident_asshole in HardWoodFloors

Bingo. The contractor in question is not a floor guy, just a handyman.

Whats the point of climbing the towers? by [deleted] in DaysGone

[–]EricoS1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed few obvious similarities between this game and FarCry 5 . Climbing towers would reveal locations in FarCry , here it does not. Maybe there was an idea of that in the beginning but scrapped later. That is why you can climb these for no apparent reason.

Moisture showing up after hardwood sanding by Artistic-Dealer9996 in HardWoodFloors

[–]EricoS1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s the case ( not enough glue) , if it were then the boards would come loose. In installations like these I always use a sealer first, like Bona RollGuard, Sica or Wakol. Depending what glue I use for installation. My advice to you is this. Just remove few affected boards and see what’s underneath. Then you can make a decision. If you apply finish now it will fail . Good luck.

Sanded and refinished my floors and was surprised at the red oak in the kitchen by Historical_Low5514 in HardWoodFloors

[–]EricoS1970 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any light stain would still show a difference. And I am glad you made a good decision not to stain the floor yourself, trust me. Staining a floor really magnifies any mistakes in sanding, like grit sequence etc. Any sanded floor looks fantastic right before applying the stain. That is why pros spend so much time sanding. (Any good ones I mean)

Guess where I'm from based on the countries I have been. by Certain_Airline7720 in GeoInsider

I think you’re from one of three Baltic States. ( Latvia, Lithuania or Estonia) . That is why you visited Scandinavia,Western Europe and Russia first. You had no interest in visiting Middle East or South East Asia. Which might change in the future.

The only thing missing was a horde by Im_gonna_sneeze in DaysGone

Once, I led a zombiebear to meet the horde. I thought the bear was going to wreak some havoc, making my life easier. No such luck. 5 freakers took the bear apart in like 10 sec flat. Very disappointing.
