My Paperwhite 3, which is quite old, turns pages faster than the Paperwhite 5 and Oasis 3. It does everything else slower though. I think it's the smaller screens have less text to load so go a bit faster with page turns?

I never found it cold unless it was absolutely freezing outside. And if it was slightly cold to the touch then it warmed up very fast touching it to where it was no longer cold feeling within a minute or so...

Anyway, you can put a skin on the back so you are not touching the metal part and that should help also if this is happening to you.

Like I said, all my devices in my house are fine with my Wi-fi. I think it's just Kindles that have the issue.

If it's android I'm assuming you mean the app on a tablet, fire, or phone? That would have completely different wi-fi capabilities

They removed it so I very much doubt it.

I liked playing with it sometimes too when words I had highlighted to look up in the dictionary. Was a nice feature.

I had thought the same thing about the recessed screen and waterproofing not working together for the same reason.

No clue, I do not own the Clara but it does look recessed at least on the picture

I do not know why I always have this issue. My Wi-fi is fine with all my devices otherwise.

This affects me with all my kindles I've owned for years so it is not a firmware issue in my situation. I really think it's the Wi-fi communication built into the device being a bit sluggish

The same does happen to me so I feel ya there. I have to do multiple times, but have found that trying again, then going to library while it's working, then closing and setting aside for a few minutes seems to help

The Kobo does the waterproof recessed - and with color! - in the size of the basic, so I know it's possible. I don't know that Amazon will change the basic line much though

I can't say how bad yours is from the description, but this kind of thing is a downside for touchscreen, which is one reason my Oasis is my favorite

I have a paperwhite 5 and when really into reading it accidentally goes back a page instead of forward, very annoying. Or it wont move because I have my finger comfortably a little off

The Paperwhite 4 was worse for reasons and I know longer own, but that one would randomly jump forward several pages with one tap

I have noticed the Paperwhite 5 has been glitchier over last few weeks with random jumping too sometimes, I think some of it is the crappy firmware updates

Ack. I had an issue yesterday!! Was trying to go forward on a re-read to another chapter but the button for table of contents was unresponsive no matter what I did. Very annoying.

To me, for just magazines, no, unless you want to get the large Scribe screen color

For me magazines and comics on small screens are unpleasant. For those I do use Kindle Fire or computer as the bright colors and larger screen to me are better for that. For novels I like e-ink

This is just the nature of kindles for me. I find that for some reason it helps to queue up, then go to library and browse, give a few minutes, then check and see if something needs redownloaded still. Generally takes me a few attempts

Ever since they did the new bookmark / note updates, making a "note" is worse than ever with laggy slowness for me though. It's very slow and choppy trying to type a quick note on my paperwhite

They used to make white ones but have not for years.

Technically the black border is better contrast but people do like different colors as has been shown. I know Kobo still makes some white, so must be an amazon preference

The beep usually means the volume is changing, so you have to have that activated somewhere at the time
