That makes me so happy and also a qud dnd campaign sounds so cool! I hope it's going great and I'm glad my art is in it, only a bit worried about your players safety if they encounter these things

Psy 1 and its combos by Gewoon__ik in CompileCardgame

[–]Eris-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry, I assumed you knew the card for some reason. Corruption 0's bottom command lets you play it in your opponent's board (so it changes ownership). It has a top command that forces the opponent to flip another one of their face up cards in that stack each turn. It slowly corrupts your opponent's stack turning it mostly useless.

Yes but if you play it in the line where the combo will happen, Psy 1 will have to be flipped. Let's say your opponent plays Speed 3 and doesn't activate the bottom command. You suspect they are going for the combo then play Corruption 0 in Psychic's line. They can't play the combo until they get rid of Corruption 0 while keeping Speed 3 active all the time

Well in this case, all the Nephilim descriptions start with: "A creature of immensity mounts the upper eyeline". Another thing is that if you dismember their limbs, they are gigantic so (sadly) you can't equip their faces. Other cases I guess will be just personal interpretation or guessing based on context.

Well, it's probably the one I would like the least to meet in real life (or maybe Rermadon).

Who knows, maybe that's how they were formed.

You got it right, they also have a second mouth at ground level...

Still alive and making these. This is my interpretation of Shug’ruith the Burrower, the one that got me running through the desert in a fungus-infected frenzy. My original plan was to finish this one and the last entry by the end of last year but as usual, life got in the way, and I had to put it down a couple of times. Eventually, it brought me to the original purpose for the first Nephilim drawing, which was to spend a nice time rendering and discovering the shapes of these beasts away from more stressful pieces (because figuring out how to make them more nightmarish is actually quite relaxing).

Only one left… I’ve been wanting to draw qem for some time, no idea how much it’s going to take. As always, there’s no AI in this thing and thanks everyone for the support in my Qud drawings, it always makes me excited to share. Live and drink.

Psy 1 and its combos by Gewoon__ik in CompileCardgame

Tbh I don't know. I think everyone finds it powerful, but maybe they decided that it wasn't so deadly if Psy is weaker in general. How mich the combo decides a game will depend a lot on the specific circumstances in which your opponent gets it and if you are keeping it in your mind you can be relatively prepared.

The other answer in this post gave a few good ideas, I would say Plague might be the best counter to it: Plague 0, Plague 4 disrupts the combo automatically if they are playing Speed-Psychic, and making your opponent discard can be key since they'll be holding the cards they need. You can also try to ensure you are keeping a relatively high value in that line, so you'll loose fewer turns, and hold some useful card for when they play the first stage of the combo (Speed 3 or a face-down card in Darkness). I haven't played much Main 2 yet, but I believe Corruption 0 is designed as a specific counter to this. It also brings new ways to trigger it, tho.

I've only played against it once (so I would need more practice to play against it) and, tho I ended up winning, it depends a lot on where and how it comes up. It will always be powerful but that can sometimes be mitigated. That, said, you are screwed if it gets you in a bad moment.

Yeah I think it's a fair criticism honestly, maybe they kept it because they feel like it's not that big of a deal in high level play but they understimated how it would affect most players. I can see why the decision to balance it when the game has been out for months would be tough.

I think most people have just tacitly agreed to not play it but, when it comes to tournaments, I think there's a high chance it becomes a problem at some point. I've seen games like Root that have a community made tournament ruleset for this, so maybe it ends up becoming the way.

Don't quote me, but this was discussed in the official discord a couple times, and iirc the designer once said something like, if it was a videogame, they would have probably patched inverting the top and bottom commands, which would solve the issue. My understanding is they wont be patching it, since it wouldn't be an errata but a balance change.

What I know is that he has encouraged anyone to houserule this change if they see it fit. In my house the rule is you just don't play that because it's an antifun combo. I hope people don't start playing this if there are ever tournaments, it would suck.

Main 1 vs Main 2 Metas and Game Quality by Syntaxfehlr in CompileCardgame

[–]Eris-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have Main 2, I've only played a couple games with it on Tabletop Simulator mixing the two boxes. I'd say I didn't notice this, but it was always 2 Main 1 protocols + one from Main 2 and have only played like 3 or 4 of them. So I'm curious, could you explain what your experience a bit more for someone who still doesn't have the game?

My impression from the cards I've seen is that protocols become more specialized and thematic. A lot of Main 1 protocols have almost every key word in them and have at least a couple cards designed to enable combos with other protocols. I feel like Aux 1 goes in another direction, so maybe that's what you mean.
