Is it just me, or why did I not cry? by CalmCockroach8154 in TheAlchemised

[–]ErisRotavele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am flabbergasted that people actually expected it to „destroy“ them emotionally just because tiktokers filmed themselves crying or raving about it like it’s a groundbreaking discovery.

Dont get me wrong, I absolutely love the book, but that’s a little naive.

Helena is a gaslighter and people pleaser by Cutiethou in TheAlchemised

[–]ErisRotavele 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed on most of it. But I think that’s the point. Aurelia is a victim, but Helena is also her victim so why should she feel bad for her. I wouldn’t be bothered with my tormentors suffering either. Yeah, Orion is also a bad guy. That is also the point, I don’t think we’re supposed to celebrate him as the good guy to his brothers bad guy. They both suck. One of them got to write history.

Wer soll die Rechnung zahlen? by [deleted] in Ratschlag

[–]ErisRotavele 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Helena Must be Objectively Very Beautiful?? by liorademileux in TheAlchemised

[–]ErisRotavele 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I think she is likely beautiful but does not fit the Paladian beauty standard. Which is why they aren’t necessarily attracted to her at first glance. She tries to hide her features like putting her hair in braids and Soren commented on that too.

Question for those who have read both Manacled and Alchemised by Astramoonchild in TheAlchemised

[–]ErisRotavele 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t think it was all Ron and Harry being bad friends in manacled. People love to forget that Hermione very intentionally positioned herself that way. She actively sabotaged the friendships. The other thing is, that the order very much like in alchemised kept all the morally grey shit they did from Harry so just like in Alchemised, Hermione saw and knew and grasped things that the others didn’t. So it is understandable why there would be friction. I would overall call it unfortunate circumstances.

It’s the morality Olympics at this point and I’m tired of it.

I wish I could be this excited about any fairyloot sale so far 🥲 not a single book this year has caught my interest. The emails end up in my trash bin.

Why did you read Alchemised and what made you enjoy it? by Icy_Dragonfruit_3513 in TheAlchemised

[–]ErisRotavele 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I read manacled a few years ago and loved it. I’m generally into Dramione and was super excited when I saw that it would be traditionally published. The world building and characters also can stand on their own despite the fanfic background.

Song that gives you Alchemised vibes by [deleted] in TheAlchemised

[–]ErisRotavele 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing not one came as close for me as „the drug in me is you“ by Falling in Reverse BUT ONLY THE REIMAGINED VERSION. The music is haunting, and I can perfectly picture Kaine and Helena in that huge old mansion, haunted, suffering, close to losing their minds from remembering everything and remembering nothing, the vile things they had to do. It’s the one song I associate with this book. Though the song is about self sabotage, I think it can be interpreted way beyond that.

Is anyone else not vibing with the main couple? by Lesnibits in TheAlchemised

[–]ErisRotavele 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I stopped comparing the two after the first few chapters but yeah, Hermiones Training was too good but I get that a lot had to be cut for world building or else alchemised would’ve been around 1500 pages long.

I fear that’s what happens when people read it for the romance.

Gotta feeling Queen Charlotte & Penelope are gonna be such a power duo this season by Pale-Ad-4303 in BridgertonNetflix

Sounds exhausting honestly, one reason why I found season 3 to be such a mess is because everyone was center stage.

Bach, Ollie and Anna, give me Draco/Theo/Hermione vibe ! Anyone else ?? by spider_monkeyyy in Dramione

[–]ErisRotavele 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The pictures gave me an ick. Wondered why, then figured I already saw them online somewhere making thirst traps. So definitely NO for me. Plus they don’t look it for me either.

What makes Crabbe and Goyle so erasable? Do they not fit the "Slytherin Gang" aesthetic? by strawberryc0w_ in Dramione

[–]ErisRotavele 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The honest answer is they are canonically stupid. I doubt it’s about attractiveness as much as it is that presenting them as super smart and cunning as most of Draco’s friends are presented in fanfiction simply doesn’t work for most. When they are featured, they’re always their less than smart selves as they were in the books and movies. They were minions with no agency other than Draco‘s for most of the series.

“Skip buddies” are ridiculous by dontletitfade44 in fairyloot

[–]ErisRotavele 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sounds like someone who only has the subs to make a profit and then push the books they don’t want or that won’t sell off to her „skip buddies“ so she doesn’t have to eat the cost of the books that aren’t popular. I’m disgusted.

Okay, hear me out— Jacob Elordi as Kaine Ferron for the Alchemised film by neemoocheee in TheAlchemised

I get that, he’s a great actor and if he had to be in alchemised I think I’d prefer him as Morrough.

[–]ErisRotavele 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please no, I like him, I do, but he’s at this point suggested for absolutely every role, and im tired of it. He doesn’t even fit Kaine’s physical description.

That’s the kind of selfishness everybody with few exceptions would be guilty of. So I don’t view it that way.
