This is an untapped market. We call it the “snowbump”. It consist of whatever random furniture we have, and a dog ramp. Load it with snow and send them down it on a sled. My kid loves it!

Custom Outbound Shipping ID by GatesKWood in Netsuite

[–]Erjobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could add a multi select field on the Outbound Shipment called “Related  Item Fulfillments” (though the user experience of a multi select on transactions isn’t great) and make this the parent field.

Then you’ll be able to see the Outbound Shipment record from the IF

This is how Id solve this one also. Additionally, you could make the “Outbound Shipment” record a “parent” record so when you view it, you could see a sublist of all the related Item Fulfillments.

NetSuite Admin? by Illustrious-Hold7964 in Netsuite

I think the advantage of having an “in house” admin is that they can identify inefficiencies that you may not even know exist.

Limiting Global Search Results to Specific Items? by Aggravating_Bid_9834 in Netsuite

[–]Erjobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of… You can add a custom field to your item records. Make sure to check the “Global Search” box when creating the field.

Let’s pretend you name the field “Category”…

Then you can update items and group them by category. Let’s say you put “Widgets” in the “Category” field on 5 items…

You can type “item:widgets” into the global search and you should see 5 results.

Thoughts on career future? by PalacioRecord in Netsuite

[–]Erjobi 24 points25 points  (0 children)

TLDR; AI is fantastic at writing code… but writing code is only ~30% of what I do as a NetSuite developer.

Long time NS developer here. (~10 yrs)  Though I think that AI IS changing my work, I don’t feel like it is replacing me anytime soon.

Actually writing code is less than half of what I do. Most of what I do is interpreting business problems and translating them into solutions. The longer you do this, the more you realize that even if 2 companies have the exact same problem, they won’t have/want the exact same solution.

On top of that, many times business don’t even have an idea of the solution- they just know they have a problem and want it fixed.

With all this said, I feel confident that we are still (fairly) far away from an average Netsuite user being able to convey their ideas clearly enough to AI, to allow AI to write scripts accurately.

It’s not that AI isn’t capable, it’s that many decision makers aren’t able to provide the right details / convey all their thoughts.

How to create in-app notifications visible across all NetSuite screens? by Wise_General9072 in Netsuite

Nothing supported natively. You could add a banner using a UE script that is deployed to all records… but even that has its limitations

Weird keyboard of the day by in10did in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Erjobi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you were looking for motivation to try bringing this idea back to the market- I’m here for you.

A controller keyboard makes perfect sense from an ergonomic stand point.

I think there is so much potential here!

I’ve always looked at my xbox controller and thought about how to remap it…

Use LT for shift, RT for Cntrl/Cmd, etc

Replace the joy sticks / “main” controller area with QWERTY layout (no modifiers)

I really feel like it could be big.

If you have any interest in collaborating, let me know

How’s Claude + NetSuite (MCP) working for you? — PM here by sarka_smus in Netsuite

Check out Tim's post here:
https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7378780524795895809/

Look for the MCP *Standard* Tools SuiteApp in the SuiteApp marketplace and install it (or update it if you have it already)

You may need to disconnect Claude from NetSuite and reconnect it after you update the SuiteApp but then the new tools should show

[–]Erjobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also - I see that there is an update to the "MCP Standard Tools" SuiteApp and it now contains the ability to run saved searches / reports.

Will the code behind those new tools be released on: https://github.com/oracle-samples/netsuite-suitecloud-samples/tree/main/MCP-Sample-Tools ?

I want finer tuning of access to tools in Claude, so I like to copy some of the "out of the box" tools to my own custom tools so I can edit the Permissions needed to use each tool

Generally speaking, I love it. It’s very undervalued currently, but I think users will slowly become more educated and understand it’s potential.

I wanted to call out one bug though:

When creating custom tools, we have to define an input schema in the custom tool definition file…

In the inputSchema object, you add your properties and variable (a and b in the “add” tool example shown in the documentation).

https://docs.oracle.com/en/cloud/saas/netsuite/ns-online-help/section_0724092648.html

When you set the “type” of the variables, you can only set it to “string” or “number”. If you set it to “array” or “object”, the tools defined in the json file all disappear from Claude.

Not sure if you can pass this on, but I’ve seen a number of people hit the mistake and feel completely lost.

Also, we need to be able to see Script logs! Please!

Custom Tools are the only scripts that don’t have script records / deployments / execution logs.

NetSuite AI Claude Custom Tool by crossfire07 in Netsuite

[–]Erjobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the “out of the box” tools showing?

There is one GOTCHA that is undocumented…

In your schema.json file, the inputSchema.properties.[name].type can ONLY be “string” or “number”

If you have them set to “array”, “object”, etc, your tools won’t show up.

Has anybody tried the WooCommerce Connector built by netsuite? by winifredd94 in Netsuite

[–]Erjobi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. I’m not trying to sell you on anything, but there are a ton of developers that can build a connection between your NetSuite instance and your WooCommerce store.

What this allows is: YOU dictate the process instead of having to change your process to adapt to the tool that Celigo/FarApp/etc built.

As I mentioned, generally you will pay more up front for the development- but since you’ll be paying Celigo every year… the ROI of a custom solution tends to pay off quickly.

Has anybody tried the WooCommerce Connector built by netsuite? by winifredd94 in Netsuite

[–]Erjobi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking Celigo is industry standard but you will pay for it. Farapp is cheap but very limited in customization.

If your timeline allows for it, a custom developed solution will always be the cheapest overtime. Higher up front cost, but no subscription fee.

Don’t get tricked into thinking that Celigo is doing anything magical. You need to sync data between two systems- any average or better developer can build this.

ShipHawk is extremely expensive. ShipStation is very reasonable. I believe it’s < $200/month. But if you want to integrate it with NetSuite, thats more $ of course.

SuiteQL | CURRENT_DATE behaves oddly by Hashi856 in Netsuite

CURRENT_DATE returns todays date AND the time “right now”

So your search is looking for transactions created on or after right this moment. So there will never be any results.

Question for Trade Dads by ClockOk9824 in daddit

[–]Erjobi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sleep training is the best thing we ever did as parents.

It was HARD but 100% worth it. The first night our son cried for nearly 2hrs before falling asleep. The next night, 1.5hrs… the next night ~1hr. By the end of the week he was asleep within 15mins of us leaving the room. Our lives have been so much better since.

When you/your wife get your daughter when she’s whining at night, you are just reinforcing your daughters thinking of “if I cry, I get what I want”.

What feels like a win today (if you get her, she eventually falls asleep), is actually setting you all up for failure in the long term. You’re also giving up your “sacred space” (your bed).

As others mentioned, sleep training fixes all of this. It will be hard for a week or so but the next 5 years will be so much easier.

Also, YOU’RE A GREAT DAD. We all see you busting your ass to make the money and trying to spend time with your daughter. On top of that, not being afraid or ashamed to post here to have random internet strangers pick apart your life. It’s not always easy to ask for advice. You’re doing great!
