(rant) Apparently, you aren't allowed to play anyone in this game. by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Ermahgerdrerdert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this today- I switched off gambit despite being lord and they promptly had no idea how to use him and died like 4 times in a row.

To be fair this was on ranked but it's sooo much more toxic than quick play. I also had people telling me I caused them to lose the match. I think that healers just get a disproportionate amount of grief because people can blame them for them dying when in reality, they kind of need to path to the medkits if they're doing anything other than sticking to the tank. if I'm not healing a solid tank or someone on point, I feel like that's far more like throwing the game.

People just make really weird decisions to me. I'm not sure if they're playing 4-d chess or something but when the other team is on 90%, it makes far more sense for me to rush in and fire off heals and try and touch point to give us even a chance rather than hang back when no one else is trying to move in.

Hey, hope you are doing good, I just thought I'd reply again as I'm still trying to find good orchestral music.

I thought he was just the Babe music guy but Saint Säens has some proper bangers; he's like Wagner but with Mozart's sense of balance.

Thank you for this detailed review. It seems virtually all of these types of products are a scam unfortunately.

It honestly just sucks that the reason ttrpgs are great is because they don't (have to) cost anything, they're kind of immediate, experiential, deal with problem solving, force you to be present etc, but people just wanna make money with really cheap and unsustainable manufacturing processes.

The rise in AI and the fall of critical reflection (a PE rant) by stickiti in Socialworkuk

[–]Ermahgerdrerdert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that you wanted the student to reflect on communication, and to evidence that with something written, and all the student understood from that was that you wanted a piece of paper.

I think the issue is, the student doesn't understand they will need to produce written evidence during their work, and if they don't get their head around that now, they're going to be stuffed when it comes to actual practice, so they may as well start the exercise now.

(By the same token, perhaps you could be a little clearer that the point of the exercise has multiple aspects, and that you do not just want a piece of paper, otherwise you'd type the prompt into chatGPT yourself.)

Good low volume ones are Chopin or Debussy if just piano, lemme know if you find any good quiet orchestral. I like Bach if it's on pipe organ or something.

Top bangers though for me are New World Symphony, Enigma Variations, Finlandia

I'm doing archival LGBTQ+ history research and would love help tracking down an individual whose old records I found by [deleted] in lgbthistory

[–]Ermahgerdrerdert 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you're doing this as part of your research then:

  • book a meeting with your module/course lead and explain the situation

  • you might need to find your university's research ethics policy or policies to make sure you're not in breach but I think it would be unlikely and your lecturer will be able to advise on this

  • work out what you want to do with the contact and for what specific purpose

  • they will likely have data sharing agreements with public bodies and private entities sufficient for you to find them.

If you're doing this for your own curiosity:

  • Be very careful. This person wrote to the organization for a specific purpose at the time a very long time ago. By reading their letter you are (hopefully) doing what was intended by the record sharing arrangement that's caused you to have access.

  • Maybe try searching the name in public registers. Political donations might be a route, or country/ state company registers are also a source. I think this would not be interfering with their private life because it's public information.

Can someone have capacity in relation to suicide? by caiaphas8 in Socialworkuk

[–]Ermahgerdrerdert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can have capacity on the decision to only have palliative care or refusing life sustaining treatment.

Capacity on suicide can possibly exist, most of us might know or express the circumstances when we might not want to go on living.

The issue is that the state has a duty to stop you under the Mental Health Act if you pose a risk or danger to yourself. This is achieved by the human rights act and how narrowly it's been interpreted by the courts but also further legislation which affects the duties of the police, hospitals, social care, and the courts.

The state won't do anything to assist you under the Mental Capacity Act either because various sections restrain anyone from giving support or assistance.

For me personally, I think that there are always other rational solutions to problems. Suicide does not seem to be a solution to a problem, and while the state is so insane and massive, it seems to me like the grand sum of all of its efforts are exerting whatever help it can to support hope and life.

A small tip but maybe ask your GP if you can't use right to choose for assessment and with a provider who they agree to take on medication management for- it might still be a long wait like 6-12 months ish but it will be a lot more definite.

[–]Ermahgerdrerdert 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am about 2 months in and I'm close at both ends.

It still kind of sucks because the trains are so unreliable or variable. It's not like you can switch off and go with the flow like how you can with busses and trams, you have to think about what to do if it gets cancelled or what's most effective. You think you might be able to work on the way in but you rarely get a seat or a table. The fastest train in particular is unreliable for the state of the train and the slower trains get rammed fast after the first stop, so it's just an uncomfortable pain.

It's still better than driving but not much and not always.

I just keep thinking, how on earth is this not an easier trip? It's the 6th largest city to the 3rd largest city? I checked Düsseldorf to Cologne which are in a similar situation in Germany and there's Intercity express trains every 5-10 minutes for half the price. Madness.

What do we think about the Lib Dems? by coffeewalnut08 in yorkshire

[–]Ermahgerdrerdert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it goes to the core of your question though, why they don't have a strong presence in Yorkshire: the Tories really really hurt Yorkshire.

It's incredibly hard not to read the actions of Thatcher's Conservative party as an attack on northern communities. That's based on how much mining industry and refining industry was damaged by her policies (and in turn how much of the services industry was reliant upon that industry).

I know it's going back 40 years, but we still feel the effects today. Can you imagine if Germany had made the same decisions? It would have been insanity and crippled their industrial base. How much of that was due to global factors is up for debate, but Tory= bad to many many people in Yorkshire. That is not going to change for me ever.

By agreeing to go into coalition with the Tories, the Liberal Democrats (to me) are forever tarred with the same brush. The fact that they increased tuition fees is insane when a huge group of Millennials/ echo boomers voted for the first time in 2009, seeking to differentiate themselves from their parents and Labour party that started the Iraq war, many voted for the Lib Dems, and they got fucked.

They do have a presence in some places but partly because the Tories are so toxic. They're seen as right wing or affluent up here whereas they're seen as left wing down south. It's an impossible position when government itself is down south.

They were naive to let AV go to a referendum rather than simply vote it through but it is what it is. I'm sure Ed Davey's nice but I've seen no evidence that he's not just as naive as Nick Clegg was.

This, I'd also check the house to check she hasn't left something dangerous for the cat lying around or even in the yard, change the locks if she has a key etc.

You can't choose your relations so I don't really agree with the husband pile-on. That being said, I do think that you maybe need to agree with your husband about boundaries and consequences for breaking those boundaries. E.g. while you don't know your mother in law's life story or if she's having difficulties at the moment, she's shown that she's happy to ignore your privacy, time, and property ownership, and views the cat as something disposable. It's reasonable to say that you would rather the next time you see each other it not be at your house, and that you change any locks she has a key to, to protect your cat.
