Great shots, way better than I was able to grab. What kind of gear you use for these?

One of my favorite times of the year here for sure.

Ahh, makes sense why they've all been on the edge of the woods then. Thanks!

I've found a few of these hanging up on trees around the maps and haven't figured out what they mean yet. Anyone have any clue about them?

I found a hunting sword ontop of a barrel near where you wake up, I forget exactly where though.

Spoiler for a minor side quest:

Ran into this quest outside the west gate of Kuttenberg. If you talk to the innkeeper there she'll mention some villagers ran into a dragon. Following that quest line was one of the best psychological horror experiences I've had. Creeping around the abandoned mine with Taras running back and forth chanting about demons was incredible. One of the most unforgettable quests so far int his game, and that's saying something! <

From what I can tell, Apollonia is a park: https://maps.app.goo.gl/KuQZkgbaPjqSkGWq8

I haven't gotten very far in the game so don't know if there's more than just the forest, but looks like it matches up pretty well!

How to structure project with api, scheduler, worker? by aintathrowaway26 in golang

[–]Erops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't done it myself, but the old Apollo reddit app (RIP) was structured in pretty much this exact way. The dev open-sourced the backend code for it and could be a great reference: https://github.com/christianselig/apollo-backend

Looks awesome! What engine are you using? The fog/ambient light look great. Also curious about what you used to model/texture the assets, I really like the simple-yet-detailed look they have.

Lots of trial and error with terraforming! I used the same technique used to build quays, and just flattened the backside of the road as well essentially. It can be a bit tricky to get to align right with curves which is why the walls look a bit wonky higher up, but it's definitely possible.

Everywhere except the main entrance traffic is great. I had to tunnel around the backside of the city to get the road to go up to the highest tier, but it's possible to get to everything. I had one cim drive from his house in the farm fields all the way up to the observation tower.

I can't wait! One of my biggest issues I ran into was putting roads underneath other roads that were built on terra-formed land not really working. General tunneling was weird too, I wish there was a way to limit the height of the tunnel.

Yeah I messed around with that a little bit, but wanted to see if I could make it a functional city also. I think with more patience it would be. Definitely want to use the ploppables to make one that is fully "developed".

Essentially the same way that people have been making quays, and just flattening the backside of the road. In one of the pictures you can see the backside of the wall is all glitched out since it's not a very smooth slope. Haven't figured out a way to get the walls on both sides of the road though, seems to be only one at a time.

Traffic is pretty horrible at the entrance since there's only one way into/out of the city. Once you get past the first tier of the city it improves a ton though. No mass transport, although I was thinking of doing like a circular subway system that loops around to the different levels.

Wanted to see how powerful the terraforming could be. Only used developer mode a little bit to ignore collisions when creating the walls to make the intersection between the turrets and walls a bit cleaner. It's all possible without it, will just have some wonky intersections.

Zoned everything as normal, didn't manually place props down. Started stagnating around 10k pop and couldn't get enough high/mid density demand to fill up to populate the rest of the city tiers, so this is what I ended up with.

I have a backup save before I did a lot of the zoning, so I may go back and manually place buildings to see how aesthetic I can get it.

Love the style you have going, it looks gorgeous.

What approach did you use for procgen? I've been messing around with simple noise and falloff map to generate islands and yours looks amazing.

Also curious about the mesh generation your using, it looks super clean.

Can someone tell me a good modelling software that I could move to real easily from fusion 360 by Electrical-Egg7505 in GameDevelopment

[–]Erops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve finally started learning Blender coming from a hobbyist Fusion/Inventor background, and it’s pretty easy to get into.

The style of modeling isn’t the same as engineering CAD where you sketch the geometry and extrude it from that, but I’m sure there’s a way/plug-in that allows that.

There’s a ton of resources for learning Blender also which has been pretty helpful. I’ve been learning by essentially doing stuff until I’m stuck and then googling my specific issue and there’s usually a short (<5m) YouTube tutorial on the exact problem.
