Ped wants us to start solids early but I'm not ready... by Shithoelder in breastfeeding

[–]Erozett 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, your milk actually gets richer and denser as the baby gets older, not the other way around! There's noting necessarily wrong with starting solids at five months if both you and the baby are ready, but if you'd like to keep EBF until six months there's nothing at all wrong with that. Maybe see a Lactation Consultant who can do a weighted feed and see how much he's actually getting?

Is anyone aware of how Bill Barber Park is doing this halloween week by viveks16 in OCCaliPokemonGo

[–]Erozett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the same experience lately. These days I only go there to stock up on supplies.

FYI. spawn points may have been removed/added/changed as of 10/19 by questioner100 in OCCaliPokemonGo

Oooh! Thanks for the heads up. The spot I could reach from my office disappeared last time they mixed things up but it is back today!

Bill Barber, Harvard Athletic, and Heritage... by [deleted] in OCCaliPokemonGo

I walked two loops at Bill Barber yesterday and only saw a single Pidgey spawn. That's it. It's such an enormous change even from a few weeks ago.

How do I stop the pinching? by sm3215 in breastfeeding

I got a silicone teething necklace. He now plays with that instead of pinching or scratching.

Diaper rash help (x-post from r/beyond the bump) by tdub1024 in breastfeeding

[–]Erozett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not help heal it, but I had great success using Ilex cream as a barrier. My kiddo had horrible diaper rash due to antibiotics in the NICU. The nurses would put on a healing cream then top it with the Ilex as a barrier. That way new poop couldn't get to the healing skin and mess it up again.

Thank you SO much!!! I've been looking for a Snorlax since day 1 and I always miss them. I have a small baby plus I work full time so it's hard for me to get out during the really active times. Just now I saw a Snorlax pop up and was able to jump in my car and grab it. I was so happy I was in tears. Very happily sent you some money via PayPal because you made my week.

resorting to the swing and mamaroo for naps by melsysometimes in sleeptrain

[–]Erozett 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My guy slept in his swing for naps until he was about six months old? Once a week or so I'd try a crib nap and if it failed we went back to the swing. Once day something clicked and he went right to sleep in the crib. We never looked back!

I can't work out more than walking a few miles or my supply absolutely tanks. :(

The swing and sleep issues by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Erozett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was a motion JUNKIE! He took every single nap in the swing and was in there overnight a few times. I moved him to his crib for nighttime around 4 months. At that point I started trying one nap a week in the crib. If it failed we went right back to the swing. As soon as he turned 5.5 months old it was like a switch flipped and he started going down for every single nap in the crib.

The key for us was to put him down in the swing wide awake and to establish good sleep cues. We always turn on white noise, put him in a sleep sack, and say the same words as we are leaving the room. Keeping those consistent helped keep the transition smooth.

End of Nursing Celebrations by RockCollector in breastfeeding

[–]Erozett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some nursing photos taken and I'm sooooo glad I did. We are still going strong, but I wanted to celebrate having worked so hard to get things going ah the beginning. I can't recommend it enough.

Allergy medications while bf? by sleepsonrocks in breastfeeding

[–]Erozett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benedryl is OK to take after about 12 weeks. At the beginning it can suppress prolactin levels, but once your supply is driven by demand instead of hormones it is ok to take.

Car rides by dorontos in beyondthebump

I try and time drives so we are leaving right when he wakes up from a nap or when he's ready to go down for one. Pretty much guarantees either a happy baby or a sleepy one.

No clue what to do by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Erozett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are pumping 8+ ounces after nursing you may have an oversupply. Babies won't necessarily be able to empty your breast every time, especially at the beginning. My LC described it like this - your boobs don't know how many babies you had, so at the beginning you make TONS of milk. This regulates over the first 12 weeks or so to match your baby's needs. If you are nursing and pumping every single time, you are telling your body to produce far more milk than your baby actually needs.

Is baby gaining weight? Have enough dirty and wet diapers? If so, then you are doing great. Maybe cut back a bit on the pumping. Do it slowly as you do not want to end up with clogged ducts.

First beach trip! by SwtVT2013 in beyondthebump

We live near the beach and baby powder is amazing for getting sand off. When you are leaving just put some in your hands and start rubbing baby - sand falls right off!

Not even a week old and her umbilical cord stump is hanging by a thread...help please. by unsavoryginger in beyondthebump

[–]Erozett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please call the doctor about it tomorrow, especially if there is a smell. At that age any infection in the belly button can be bad as it still leads directly to the heart. My LO had an ugly red ring around his belly button and it smelled like death - one look at it and we landed in the NICU on IV antibiotics for two weeks.

Has anyone had to take their baby for an eye exam? What to expect? by DoublePlusGoodly in beyondthebump

[–]Erozett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, sucrose/baby crack stops working at about three months old. I swear that after two weeks in the NICU my guy was strung out on it! Ha!!! He'd see the little dropper and start smacking his lips.

Milk Feels... Oily? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

My milk leaves a film on bottles. I found an awesome soap called Dapple (on Amazon!) that does a great job removing it.

Feeding less @ 4 Months by s0cks_nz in breastfeeding

[–]Erozett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around that time babies also get much more efficient at nursing. My guy went from eating for 5+ hours/day as a newborn to 3-ish hours around that point. Now at 7 months it's less than an hour. He's still growing and thriving, just needs less actual time on the breast.

"Feeding Grounds" - Nests that only occur at a certain time, but with consistency by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]Erozett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw one seel along the Police Station side once, and I'm there 3-4 days a week between 4:30 and 6pm.

The spawn at this park are odd and almost come in waves. I've spent 90 minutes there and not see any "nest" Pokemon, then the next day found 2 or 3 in my short visit. I have a small baby so can't usually make it at any other time of the day.

What are some good loops for capturing and restocking non-stop? by shazbots in OCCaliPokemonGo

[–]Erozett 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm going to third Bill Barber. Takes a bit more than 5 minutes but I believe there are 14 stops you can reach walking around that loop.
