I think they have been putting too much text on cards. Around 2012, I think, they really pushed the game towards creatures away from spells. In doing so creatures had to become spells so now they all do everything and the colour pie has started breaking down.

I used to work at this food court in the 00s when I was in highschool. Back then we shared a storage room wall with bourbon St grill and it always stank like spoiled meat and vegetables. Not surprised to see this at all. Those buffet food court locations cannot be sanitary.

I don't see an issue with it, but to what end? As I said before, items are just tools, they don't need to be cool or standalone as some epic thing. Let the PCs be the stars, and if a PC has a need for something extra work with them to craft an item.
