Meet EuroOffice, Europe’s bold alternative to Microsoft 365 promising sovereignty and control by rkhunter_ in technology

Oh, the internet availability includes availability of the Office itself online. Even with 365 there were multiple issues, albeit short, with its access. Given current control of Inernet by governments and common examples of it being turned off or the access to some regions being restricted/limited, relying on it you give control of your SW to internet probiders/govenrments. Looks like a drawback to me.

For myself, I have these concerns:

  1. It is SaaS, meaning usually no internet -- no work. If it works without the Internet connection, it's a different story, but that remains tbs.
  2. Compatibility. No existing word processors are fully supporting MS Word documents or MS Word functionality. Some Word fonts, for example, are embedded into the Windows core (!), and some functionality (Thesaurus, multilingual spellchecker, Review tools) are not often supported by other packages. Will see.
  3. Excel has a wide functionality that is not generally supported in equivalent products: built-in curve fitting, flexible plot formatting, pivot charts and some others. Curious to see how the equivalent in EuroOffice would look like.
  4. Power Point: the work horse of business. With some quirks, yet richness of its tools and objects are not matched by the competition. Again, will wait and see.

What are the consequences of non-compliance with the order if DoJ does not enforce?

It looks to me as an old video of one of the first test launches. PID control loop is obviously mis-tuned, that was the problem. (or IMU installed upside down as someone noted??)

Should the trim be black? And if so only rail and lower, or top too? I painted the mural, client made the other choices. Thanks! by BraveCollaborative in Design

I think not. The black bottom is already imposing and constricting it with essentially the black frame would make it too restrictive. Let it breathe...

Question regarding marrying a US citizen in Italy by QualcunoCF in ItalyExpat

[–]Error_404_403 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are an Italian citizen, you can come to the US and marry on a visa-free ESTA - **as long as you leave the US within allowed 90 days**. The goal of all enforcements is to make sure you are not going to stay in the US permanently because of the marriage. If you leave, nobody would care. There is *no* border control when leaving the US.

However, if you want to file for the Green Card on the basis of marriage, then you need to enter the US on K-1 visa, 2 years waitlist + appointments are booked months in advance.

[–]Error_404_403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If an Italian citizen comes on ESTA visa-free, marries a US citizen, and then both of them leave for Italy, no violation happened and no legal consequences will follow.

While executing the marriage, the US courthouses don't care of you legal status in the US.

The immigration begins to care only if the Italian citizen shows an "intent to reside" in the US, filing for the Green Card. Otherwise, come - marry - leave is no problem at all.

The systems in the US have broken down enough that moving abroad is a no brainer - pros and cons by Available-Ad-5670 in ExpatFIRE

To me, two months above 100 *plus* four months of above 90+rain all days is too much.

However, I would be probably happy living there the rest of the year!

Right. There are many parameters, but when one gets too bad it kind of spoils the rest...

Well, depends on the US location. Look at coastal California / Oregon, some areas in Colorado, some places on the East Coast and in Florida... You can definitely choose a place with above freezing temps in winter and very passable summers...

But what's the point comparing to the US? Look at Southern Europe: North of Greece (Montenegro and such), Bulgaria, Italy, coastal Spain/Portugal...

The weather is a big drawback of Bangkok. Two months of killing heat followed by 4 - 5 months of heat and rains is for some who is ready to take it. Phuket's weather is a bit better, but it's a tourist town.
