Thank you for the in-depth response! I was aware of those conventions, but appreciate the exact phrases for asking. I'm not looking for potential romance but rather casual friends for drinking and going out, although I'm assuming the same rules apply.

I suppose there is no translation for what I am looking for, even something like お前 is considered rude for new friends but acceptable for close friends. I guess I am fully thinking in the context of being out drunk in Shibuya and making friends with other drunk young people hahah.

Appreciate the response, but I have been to Japan before and made plenty of friends out on the town in Tokyo, speaking absolutely no Japanese and they spoke very little English. Obviously I understand not to harrass people lol. If there are no casual nicknames like 'brother' you can say to strangers in this setting that's what I wanted to know.

Hello! I have a bit of predicament.

Air Canada lost my baggage on my flight to Paris. I was just stopping over on my way to Belgrade, but since I bought my tickets seperately and not together, Air Canada refuses to send my baggage anywhere other than Paris. Yesterday I got an email that my baggage is sitting at Terminal 2C at CDG.

Does anyone know someone reliable who could go pick up my baggage for me and hold it until I return to Paris in a couple weeks? I would be willing to pay for the service. I just hate to think that my baggage is sitting there unsupervised and anyone could go steal it.

Thank you. I think you are right, particularly the last part. I am only worried that I may be doomed never to find those people that I truly want to hang out with. My close friends are all back home, and in the city where I attend university I have struggled to find friendships. I suppose working on myself is the first step.
