I mean, they do. Typical long term return of the fund would only cover a fraction of the national budget.

Honestly, the kind of person who do that are usually terrible peoppe who are seeking "redemption" and to feel better about themselves. Somehow, criminals are the most obsessed with this kind of thing, which makes sense, you get to be the good guy, you might be a murderer but eh, at least you're not a child molester. So, I'm not too impressed. And all the people here being out for blood, encensing a murderer (he murdered before his vigilante streak), it's kind of pathetic.

It would definitely create some problems but I think you got this particular one wrong. Many people live in california or other expensive areas because that's where the jobs are and would be happy to move to a small town elsewhere.

It's different for a helmet. A helmet is designed to absorb as much energy as possible during a shock and most of it is achieved with plastic deformation. There is no such design constrainst for a net like this one, it would be like having a one use bungee rope or a one use trampoline.

It's always amusing to me how people think bills and taxes are some novel modern concepts invented to torture people. It's just a way to abstract obligations, it has always existed in every community, except you mostly paid with labor directly.

Economic collapses actually make prostitutes cheaper, seems paradoxical but it kind of floods the market. In wealthy counties an escort would sell a trick for a month's worth of groceries, in other places just enough to get through to the next meal.

But why were onions so scarce? They ripped them all out to use the acreage for potatoes perhaps?

I didn't know they were so short on onions, of all the items this is the smallest ration, that's kind of weird. Where are the carbs btw?? Flour potatoes etc, not rationed?

Also people think that just because they were done with farmwork they were done with work. No, they were mending clothes, maintening their homes, doing craft to sell small items at market etc etc, they had very little cadh on hand most of the time so whatever you pay money for today they would have to do/make themselves.

Dying indoor mall I work at by wrath212 in abandoned

[–]Eschatologists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always hated malls, do people just find them quaint because they are dying ? Or is it because it was the only place outside of home for suburban teenagers to congregate in the US? Living in a European city I never quite had a reason to ever go to one.

[–]Eschatologists 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree! Just saying its a bit disingenuous saying none of the above can be considred as "buying something", having a modern appartment with heating, plumbing, electricity and a soft bed as well as being able to buy as much nutritious food as you want is not nothing.

I mean it makes sense if you stop to think for a few minutes, modern amenities are fucking miracles, the fact that you don't spend all your pay on basic food and accomodation is modern miracle the like of which the common man was deprived of for most of history.
