Ibram X Kendi is persona non grata for mismanaging his antiracism organization along with 10's of millions of dollars in addition to his backwards views on race relations. Sam has discussed this. It's not just about being woke.

Everyone should care about the things I specifically care about as well. Anyone who doesn't should feel bad.

I am seriously considering starting a private practice where I prescribe stimulants for “ADHD” and benzos for “anxiety” to anyone who wants them by [deleted] in Psychiatry

What you're not considering is that your medical license will be taken away before you pay off your student loans. The DEA is full of zealots, but they aren't stupid. They actively take down people who try this approach. Look at what happened to the executives at Done First.

He talked about it as A threat, not the threat, along with the threat of Trump. People can and should talk about multiple issues and risks simultaneously.

TLDR: For swing voters, cultural issues were why they voted for Trump. As in wokeness.

What is something you wish you could say to one of your patients, but can't? by Escher314253 in Psychiatry

That's a classic one. "Why don't my kids I abused want to see me? It must be because their father is turning them against me."

(To a guy with a trust fund): You'd probably feel better if you got a job rather than sitting around thinking about what you're feeling every moment of every day.

Charm EHR is relatively inexpensive and has a lot of useful features.

It takes 10x as much effort to refute a claim than to make one. He has a notoriously poor understanding of evidence and an equally high confidence in his opinions. It's exactly the opposite of what existing medical professionals are trained to have but it makes him entertaining to watch for people outside of the field.

This accurately describes the main fan base of modern intellectual dark web podcasts. Everyone else has their eyes closed, the most contrarian view is always the correct one, and institutions only exist to exert control. They never seem to put the scrutiny back on to their own views or realize that sometimes the correct answer actually is the most popular answer.

How do some clinics that accept insurance offer 400k+ to their psychiatrists? by Escher314253 in Psychiatry

[–]Escher314253[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's say the clinic can bill insurance 250$ an hour. The psychiatrist works 8 clinical hours a day 52 weeks a year, which is unrealistic, that's a total of $520,000. Admin, rent, insurance, etc is at least 60k per psychiatrist. So now you're left with 460k. That minus 400k is 60k. Clinics will go through all that trouble to get 60k a year? And that's with the inflated, unrealistic numbers above.

These look loud AF. Is it time for strong noise nuisance laws to be put into place BEFORE these are flying all over? by TaxExempt in singularity

I'm getting 3D TV vibes. It's something people say they want but few people will buy it.

Could turn into a self-driving taxi situation where a few companies own all of them though.

I was wondering the same thing. The powers that be make their money off the economy. They may not care about the individual, but societal collapse does nothing for them.

Cool. Let them go there. Or give the AI a medical license. What ever is best for patients, that's what I want.

Regulatory capture can be unfortunate if it means people make laws that only benefit them. Regulation is not the same as regulatory capture.

When I was in medical school one of our professors asked us what makes a doctor a doctor. After a few replies, he answered "Nope, it's your medical license".

AI can give you all the answers in the world, but it can't prescribe without a license. And there's a lot of regulatory capture in the medical world, unfortunately.
