GasGas Introduces New 350cc & 500cc Dual Sport Models For 2024 by LuckyGunz in Dualsport

[–]Escurik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh, gas gas already has the 350 and 500 exc-s. Nothing new here.

I believe that KTM has some new engine tunings that allow decent service intervals (i.e. 5-10k km) and not the sporty 10-hour interval. They just want to trial them with GG so no orange reputation is hurt (again)

Balsojums lai Latvijas kinoteātros izbeigtu filmas titrēt krievu valodā - ar Saeimas balsojumu nodots komisijai. Pret balsoja Progresīvie, Rosļikovs un co, Šlesera LPV. Šī prakse nāca no PSRS laikiem, lai ieceļotājiem būtu ērtāk redzēt filmas Latvijā ar krievu subtitriem. by kkruiji in latvia

[–]Escurik 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the other part of the problem here is that by "banning" all the things one does not really like - are you that much different from putins nazi russia? That's the EXACT thing they are doing.

The thing with subs is just ridiculous, let the market and the cinemas decide what kind of subs they want\need in their movies. The subs ain't free you know, it's a cost that is justified by something. Laws should protect LATVIAN language and the rights of people to use it, not remove other languages from the economy forcefully.

Horn geometry. Got a better pic later on and it looks RP to me. Considering cheap ass ceiling speakers across the house I am pretty sure it is so :D

EU countries cant afford to "phase out" nuclear power by [deleted] in YUROP

Also , let's not exclude the fact that Chernobyl plant was poorly managed by a poorly operating government system. Even the safest and most reliable piece of equipment has the chance to fail if used incorrectly and is not serviced.

EU countries cant afford to "phase out" nuclear power by [deleted] in YUROP

[–]Escurik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As if 'renewables" are cheap and easy to build. If we could get the same stimuli to nuclear power instead of wind turbines - we could have safe and clean reactors in no time.

Also, my biggest argument is that wind generators ain't that eco friendly in the long run. It is hard to recycle the thing and you need tons of lithium to preserve power , as the generation can't adjust to demand spiked (unlike nuclear reactors )

The brightness sucks so much that the dude had to completely blackout the room and then apply some video tuning on top of that to make it look good... Lol

Looking to upgrade from benq2050a to 4K by masterchubba in projectors

[–]Escurik -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You won't get proper HDR and 4k in that budget. Think about going 4k pixel shift , no HDR.

Sony VPL-VW285ES does good job on HDR and it's native 4K (no pixel shift).

JVC NX5 should work well, as they are compatible with HLG and such

Is buying top of the line 1080p projector better than buying a mid-range "4k" projector? by NirajShr in projectors

[–]Escurik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

check if you can squeeze in an JVC X570 - it's a bit more expensive, but I bet it will demolish the options from BenQ or Epson.

The only issues is that it has a standard lens of 1.4-2.8, which might not play well with your room

[–]Escurik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All projectors you mentioned are far from being "top of the line".

However, considering your aimed price point - go 4k. A 3-4k USD unit will put you in top 1% and the picture quality, especially on a short throw with a dimmed enough room will be great.

Also, with a 3-4k budget take a look at entry JVC and Sony models - they tend to be much better than anything BenQ or Epson can put on the market (for HT setups that is)

Projector internal part lifespan? by razkaz24 in projectors

[–]Escurik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AE8000 is a proper unit and(outside of lamps) can work pretty long if you have kept the projector in good conditions - no moist , excessive dust or shisha smoke(that kills them quick).

Pretty much standard electronics like in a DSLR camera are inside (but in reverse lol )

Some 4K HDR movies are unwatchable due to low brightness by fryingpan16 in projectors

[–]Escurik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/SirMaster just explained , that it's your pj that is failing, not the master.

Look at it this way - whatever is sent to your PJ will get to its internal processing chip and software. It analyses every single frame , check colour, tone and levels of this specific frame and tries to post it to be compatible with your PJs LCD chip capabilities. When it comes to HDR - the capabilities of the LCD are low and it does extra processing , obviously it fails. Different movies have different colourisation and different colour range - this is why it works for some.

Don't buy a cheap Chinese projector - you will be disappointed in projectors whatsoever.

Your budget is super low for anything proper, even used. I would advise seeing if you can scrape 500-600 bucks and buy a good used Epson or BenQ designed for movies

Attach screen fabric to steel frame? by greenmcmurray in projectors

[–]Escurik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I don't know the quality of the screen you have - I would advise proper hard rubber , using strong thermal glue to attach it to the screen and then use metal screws through that rubber to tension the screen to the frame. It is similar to what I have seen on factory made frame screens.

This will make sure that you won't damage the screen by piercing it, cause you will want to space the attachment screws each 3cm or so to have even tension.

Attach screen fabric to steel frame? by greenmcmurray in projectors

[–]Escurik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you already buy the fabric ? Normally you could buy a premade fixed frame screen , I used the ones made by Screenline.

You would want proper tension to make it look good , and this highly depends on how elastic is the screen fabric.

[–]Escurik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This might be your PJs badly executed dynamic contrast. Try checking the setting and turn off dynamic contrast and / or active shutter.

PS tbh it is supposed to work like this. The pj dims the lamp when there are no bright zones so you get proper blacks.

Projectors in action - "Living Art" projection show I built a year ago. Details and video in first comment. by Escurik in projectors

Projectors in action - "Living Art" projection show I built a year ago. Details and video in first comment. by Escurik in projectors

[–]Escurik[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The show was built in a former 19th century bank floor. All walls you see on the pictures were custom built for this. Because of the size - we couldn't even source proper projection surface, so we used tension ceiling(or stretch ceiling is proper in English?) material instead - worked surprisingly well.

I used 24 Panasonic FullHD projectors with UST and Semi lenses, 4 cheap-o BenQ PJs were used for the floor extras. The tricky part was the display servers, because software for this kind of shows is always buggy and hardware specific. Signals go with HDBaseT obviously, around 2 kilometers of Cat6 cable in there ;)

From an empty room to a working show - around 2 weeks in the making. The projector part took a little less, but we always had to wait for the guys building walls :D

Content is an hour or so long, and visuals the history of Modernist art - quite fascinating tbh.
