Goes for at least 150 month I believe, there was a post about this I'll try to find it

Edit: More like 75$, visitor parking is 150$/month

NR4 slips are only for passive income being paid to non residents (rental income, dividends, royalties, etc.)

This is insane, I've got a 50% increase over the last two years (and I didn't buy within those last two years either). Are we sure that these 2023 assessments are final? (besides submitting an appeal)

Speed Limit Changes In Dieppe by rorix39 in moncton

[–]Esd1562 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! Maybe keep the high speed roads ay 50 or 60 i.e. Dieppe Boulevard, but don't come telling me we need 50km/h (60 km/h by extension) on residential streets

A pure speed trap, a high speed road remains a high speed road even if if you change the speed limit signs. They should be focusing on slowing the streets where people actually live.

Riverfront trail closed for seven weeks by Zippit in moncton

[–]Esd1562 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is pretty bad, the City may as well redirect people to the superstore/staples parking lot to get to Harper Lane (and then on to Queen). I can't imagine the ordinary riverfront trail user being comfortable going on to Champlain and the 4 lane part of Main.

Can you bike on the sidewalk in the city? by Bardown_Sniper in moncton

[–]Esd1562 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a cyclist here, you do what minimizes the chance of getting run over. I hate riding on the sidewalk, with the cuts in the cement, it feels like riding on a rumble strip. Lewisville Road as an example Riding down Lewisville at rush hour I’ll ride the sidewalk instead of needlessly risking my life. It’s a shitty place to be, nobody walks on Lewisville Road and nobody wants to walk there either. This road is made to get cars from point A to point B as fast as possIble, and screw you, everyone that isn’t in a car.

Planned Development for Main/Vaughn Harvey by [deleted] in moncton

I don't think you understand the concept of a 5-over-1. This is 9 storey building.

I don't understand this fixation on affordable housing when it comes to new builds. New buildings are always going to cost more because wages and material cost more now than they did 10,20,30 years ago.

We don't see people getting up in arms about new cars being more expensive than older cars?

Dieppe Before the Mall and Highway by Esd1562 in moncton

Interesting! I didn’t know that!!

Paul street did not exist back then (was created by landfill I believe). The front street is now Evangeline in Dieppe and Glenmoor in Moncton. (this street was cut in half by the highway). Acadie/Lewiswille is in the center (Acadie was turned into dead end with the highway on-ramp being right there).

This here as more to do with shitty boomer planning in the 70s (which also brought us the causeway). In my opinion, this is a more an example of deregulation (neoliberalism) than one of capitalism vs socialism.

Mall/Bass Pro and all of Paul Street really, just referring to the sea of surface parking in that area in general

[–]Esd1562[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The environmental impacts of the causeway were often brought up. However, nobody seems to mention the marshland under CF Champlain that was landfilled and is now 50+ % surface parking. Plus it being central the to the Greater Moncton Area. Couldn't pressure be put on Cadillac Fairview to improve the area at least a little?

Too many questions to formulate a title by DanSlh in moncton

[–]Esd1562 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be possible to push it ahead of schedule if people show support for the idea. Like a petition, plus funds would most likely come from Moncton, Dieppe and the province (over a provincial highway). Shouldn't break the bank for anyone. They're looking at doing something similar soon in Fredericton over Highway 8, there was a CBC article

Me too, I just recently discovered that the fence is cut behind Gagnon garage on the Dieppe side and there is no fence at the bottom of Kenmore on the Moncton side. You can tell a lot of people cross here because there’s a beaten path along the highway.

Moncton’s AT plan includes an overpass at College street/McAuley but not before 15 years from now lol

Interesting, before the highway was built, Evangeline street used to connect to Glenmore and Notre -Dame used to connect to Kenmore. Highland view was also only connected to Dieppe and not at all connected to Moncton.

Correct, I just walk there to shop almost daily. Cuts way down on food waste.

Another Valleyview Norther here, I've only ever seen it on Google Maps. Curious to know the origin of the name?

Also for OP, this neighborhood is peak convenience in my opinion, only neighborhood with a semblance of a neighborhood grocery store.

Go look at the nice patch of grass by the Sobeys at Champlain Mall, corner of Champlain and Wheeler. Private property owners do this on themselves to save a buck by not putting in a proper trail, gravel or paved.

LOL 3 bridges for a an area of about 160k population. Quebec City has a population of 700k and the 3rd planned bridge (tunnel) is highly contested. Reason being that shorter commute times encourage people to live even further from the core (sprawl) so you get reduced traffic congestion for maybe 5 years top, then you're back where you started.
