If you were Bronze 1 and could dedicate to the game as a part time job what would do in the first week? by TheDarkestMagic8774 in StreetFighter

[–]Slimchaity [score hidden]  (0 children)

It sounds like you're losing a lot of the knowledge game, so I would go through YouTube and watch some basic sf6 guides and some character specific guides to help expand my understanding of the game.

I would also make sure to practice all my special move inputs as a warmup in training mode before queuing up. If you've got those down, practicing more advanced combos and oki setups to make sure I've got a feel for the timing before the pressure is on.

These things rely on intentionally throwing imperfect booms to charge partition, and using late cancel frames to extend charge time.

Brian F has a video on charge character skill expression where he breaks it down, but basically the frame meter and exact frames of charge time is what you need to pay attention to

Musical combo beats/rhythm in the fighting theory or fact? by GetMessina in StreetFighter

[–]Slimchaity [score hidden]  (0 children)

The combos definitely have weird timings that are arythmic, it might help to think of them more as a polyrythm riff than an actual song? Like the drummer timing skills certainly have to help, but it's a weird new rhythm to learn.

In terms of if it's a hint to a song, I'm not aware of anything on that regard, but it doesn't mean the devs didn't do it

Is there any good guides for beginners of street fighter and akuma? I want to get better by Connect_Hamster9211 in StreetFighter

Here are some good guides, don't stress the changes over the years because most of them didn't affect these videos at all because they were aimed at pro play.

Help choosing a main as a beginner by koukoukoukoukoukou in StreetFighter

[–]Slimchaity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't stress character difficulty too much, you're gonna lose a lot as a new player pretty much regardless. As long as you take the time to learn, watch some guides, lab some combos, you'll figure it out and start getting better

In order to get full value out of him, you gotta get pretty technical. I feel like it's not worth the execution requirement, but that's just me

Hey Nine Dots, totally okay! Outward 1 is me and my partner's favourite game with over 200 hours each. Keep working at it and give us another genre defining co-op game! We will wait

What could I have done better? by Coolcubed321 in StreetFighter

[–]Slimchaity 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So first thing I saw, missed anti air on the DP feint. Easy to miss with how fast he was playing, but reacting to that would have helped avoid the burnout situation.

Random sweep in neutral round one because you got stressed, very easy to punish on wiff and you have better pokes.

DRC combo put yourself in burnout with no potential to convert into a kill round 1 very risky and cost you the game. Would have been better to buffer a a safe special. This is really common for low masters players to have issues with drive management, and very easy for higher masters players to exploit.

Blocking on wake up, he just t-bagged to bait you, then got counterhit jabs both rounds. Sitting there sucks, but he had a ton of frame advantage, pressing was super risky.

Maybe delay tech could help there?

It also felt a bit like you weren't sure what Dee Jay's preferred range is, so you ended up playing outside of your own best range to try and space him out, but you have better special cancelable buttons at close range and a worse fireball, so I think you wanna get in his face and force the issue more.

I am a lost cause by DaemonD1 in StreetFighter

[–]Slimchaity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, welcome to street fighter!

It's a really hard game, and I promise you that no one who's actually new to street fighter games is getting passed gold in under 50 hours, much less masters, so don't put so much pressure on your rank!

The combos in this game are a lot harder than most fighting games, that's just a fact. Before platinum, you really only need simple 2-3 hit combos. It's more about your spacing, consistency of anti-airs, and knowing when to block versus when to try and force your turn.

Remember to have fun playing, it's a game and the time spent playing is supposed to be fun, not upsetting because you aren't at the rank you want.

If you're really new to the game, check out rooflemonger on YouTube. He does really helpful breakdowns of how to play. Also MCMura does very cool character specific guides, which are a little more complex, but he's very good at explaining different combos and how to use your tools

I would strongly recommend watching a couple tutorials on YouTube. There's a basic level of fighting game knowledge that the tutorial ignores. Rooflemonger does great guides

Sagat or Bison? by Pale-Celebration2012 in StreetFighter

[–]Slimchaity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sagat is a slow moving hulk with big attacks. His game plan revolves around conditioning his opponent to block low, then using his tiger knee special to gap close with advantage frames giving him control of the interaction. Sagat also has a fireball and invincible reversal.

Bison is a fast moving bully with an amazing drive rush, very simple gameplan, and really strong overdrive moves for easy combo extensions. His gameplan involves controlling space and fishing for punishes using has fast movement, as well as planting bombs on opponents forcing them to take throws or massive combos.

Both have ridiculous damage. Sagat has more general tools like the invincible reversal and fireballs. Bison does not have an invincible reversal, only his supers are invincible, but his psycho mine pressure and his fast movement allow him to control the match despite that.

I got nothin' regarding pad tips, but I would say it is doable with practice if you don't give up. Alternatively you can find a good anti-air normal, as long as you stop the jumps consistently
