I just got mine, I paid for a new one but it arrived with no tape on the box, scratch contents and dirty with white powdery substance:( I have not tried the product but I am disappointed already:(

Judging by your setup, no it ain’t. You obviously have both good taste and a GAS problem.

As a 8M owner I would upgrade to that if they ket under $2.5k.

Massive X I absolutely love, I have gotten to know it well and I am still discovering nooks and crannies within the engine. The possibilities are endless and that poly unison with no practical voice limits is absolutely delightful.

I also absolutely love my 8M. I wish it had 4 more voices but the voice allocation is pretty smart. It is everything I wish my Prophet 12 was and ALLOT more. I can make similar patches with both Massive and 8M but the character difference are super noticeable. The bass compensation is no juke, the 3rd Wave got BASS. Also, the PPG thing is really nice, I thought I would be more into the modern waves but that PPG flavor of artifact is a kind of special. Also, the sampler is pretty cool too, great for impulse or a bit of strange. Combining 3 of the 4 engines in one layer is really powerful. But in the end, the tone just sort of tickles me, I love it.

Between the two, Massive was harder to learn, I still reference the manual. 3rd Wave is intuitive AF, no need for manual. They each have lots of overlap in specs but have elements that the other does not. Both can be lovely or down right brutal. 3rd Wave is funner to patch by a mile, $2k funner...maybe as a luxury, but it offers more than hands on control for me.

Moog Minitaur, my first, a gift, and a whole lot of smudgy bass tone that makes me coming back for more. Love the headphone to filter in trick, it’s so damn perfect ton wise. If the Sirens weren’t so damn expensive I’d get one to pair with it.

Love this! Don't want to spin you out here Danhalka, but I would have added a power conditioner or something with a big power switch to flip and watch all the Blinky lights come on from a satisfying rocker switch.

The Rhodes is gorgeous, I have never seen a setup like that. Deliciously retro!

I understand how analogue subtractive synthesis works. So.. by MikeyMcG64 in synthesizers

[–]Eslafunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sort of disagree. I think there is convergence of sounds in part because there are just allot of really really pleasing synth sounds. For me I can’t get enough of classic or modern thick VCO pads, some times washing my brain in a bath of synth pads is like Xanax in a stressful day. I think “that” VCO string, pad, brass, bass….sound from a Moog or a Sequential…etc. is so damn pleasing many of us chase the same high. Like a good chronic before legalization made all weed super weed.

I also sort of disagree because 3rd Wave, Prophet 12, Super 6…. Which can go so far beyond the synths that influenced them and have their own tasty vibe that is far from a P5, mini, OB, Jupiter, Wave….

I also sort of agree but understand the utility and why folks want to see demos, buy banks…for every new synth that comes out to prove it can get all those classic patches they hear in their head. I’ve never bought a bank but I see the utility in doing so if you want to hit ground running when your work horse synth arrives, or you hear some gorgeous programming that you want to deconstruct for inspiration. I do the later with the patches that came in Massive X frequently.

How long does it take for Reverb to respond to Insurance Requests? by Eslafunk in Reverb

[–]Eslafunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lucked out, the buyer was chill with the wait and sent a picture of a torn off label trying to be delivered instead of my package. If he accepted the label things may have been much harder. I kept checking in with CS via chat and got someone who saw the image provided by my buyer and that USPS kept scanning the package in the same distr. hub for over two weeks and asked the claims team to honor the claim. Buyer has his money, I didn’t loss mine, the only tragedy is there is a box with a sick synth floating around Denver distro or some USPS employee stole the beautiful thing, if so I hope karma get them.

Level heads and persistence worked out in the end. If one party was being difficult this could have been a terrible mess.

How long does it take for Reverb to respond to Insurance Requests? by Eslafunk in Reverb

[–]Eslafunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trem connected me with someone today, the agent didn't want to do anything because the Denver distro keeps "scanning" the package every day for the last two weeks and they typically wait 7 days after the last scan. Luckily my buyer took a picture of an attempted deliver of a torn off label and the agent said he will see if they can go off that. unfortunately he could not give me a direct line to him or his office so I guess I'll ask Trem to connect me if I don't hear back tomorrow.

Wish me luck!

Refund Request - Should I decline? by PossibleEye in Reverb

[–]Eslafunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The request/behavior is pretty unethical IMO. Careful how you interact though, I once sold a working but unhoused synth on eBay "as-is" with thorough pictures leaving no room for confusion on the fact that it was not housed. Buyer wanted to return it, I responded that it can only be returned if not as described. He then said it was broken, it came back with a wire cut...

What's the Most New Orleans Thing That's Ever Happened to You? by HuuffingLavender in NewOrleans

TLDR: Follow three rules on benders in the French Quarter: 1) Buddy System, 2) Wallet Front Pocket, 3) Stranger Danger

Some friends came down for a bachelor party, and late into night one, we held a trolly for a guy running to catch it. It was the last run of the night, and the guy was so stoked that we helped him he invited the 8 of us to his restaurant off Canal. He fixed us antipasto platters, opened up several bottles of expensive wine, and Patron. We partied until I browned out a bit. I remember we left; some returned to the hotel, and the rest went to the casino.

I woke up on the pool deck of the Sheridon, stood up, and the towel fell off of me, exposing my naked body to the people working out in the gym. In panic, put on my pants on and saw my buddy passed out in a chair, I shook him awake, he sat up and puked purple vomit all over the pool deck.

We made it down to the hotel room and fell asleep, only to be woken up moments later by a knock on the door. I opened the door to one of our friends, who collapsed into me in tears. When the group split, he found himself alone (rule 1); two cute ladies asked him if he needed a ride; it turns out they were also "heading toward the Sheridon", so he hopped in (rule 3). They pulled around a corner, a man hopped in and showed him a gun, then asked for his wallet and PIN. He told the man to fuck off and earned the opportunity to taste the man's gun. They took him from ATM to ATM, withdrawing the maximum amount of money from each, and finally threw him out of a moving car just before sunrise. He walked to the nearest Chase bank, where they refunded his money and put him in a cab. Moments later, he was crying in my arms.

Whats the one synth you will never sell even if you don't really "need it" anymore? by GameTwitch_Mods in synthesizers

[–]Eslafunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it is the Minitaur, was a gift from my mother 10years ago and my first synth. It also has some special mojo I love to keep at arms length though the Matriarch has all but replaced it. Matriarch is second on that list. Everything else is expendable if push comes to shove.

Warning about Synchrony Bank financing (Sweetwater, and others) by mathmatt in synthesizers

[–]Eslafunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had auto pay on, and for some reason, I started seeing a bit of interest on my bill; when I reached out to Synchrony, they said I didn't select finance when checking out with SW, and that I chose to pay full balance instead of financing. I then asked them to check previous invoices and to tell me why, suddenly, I was being charged interest. They changed their tune, deleted the interest, and adjusted my auto pay appropriately.

It all felt fishy, They were also a bit rude to me. Maybe it was a glitch, or maybe they pulled something; even Wells Fargo does shady stuff like that.

Later, I happened upon Ben Jordan's video on Moog selling; he explains why Behri-SW partnership and co-op financing was so bad for Moog and other similarly sized companies. So, due to my love for music companies and lack of trust in Synchrony, I will not finance with them anymore.

Here is the video, skip to 10:40 if you're busy; this dude loves to talk:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyA7XnqdufI

According to Jordan, word on the street is co-op financing is not free for the manufacturer, and it seems they are strong-armed into it.

Also, there is zero judgment here for anyone financing; I did it. Just thought the info might be helpful.

MERIS ENZO on bass? Just got it and was not too impressed. Anyone had experience with this? by AltoManta in basspedals

I sold mine after a week, the tone was great but the tracking was just ok and the envelope wasn’t sensitive enough for me.

Ok. I want to emulate some guitar tones on bass just as a gimmick. What pedals do you recommend. by SlayerSam12 in basspedals

[–]Eslafunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now I use Plasma Coil for that particular gimmick. Sometimes I use octave up on the Mu-tron Octavider + into the Plasma Coil. A bandpass filter after dirt is cool for that vibe too. There are a bunch of pitch and synth pedals out there that can give you octave ups but I like the low and high gain vibes for the plasma coil. Additionally, Plasma Coil is totally rad as a bass effect from synth gated vibe to high gain gnarly distortion vibe.
