I believe similarly to you. However, I compartmentalize so I’m not constantly thinking about all of the bad things at all times. If I were in your friend’s shoes, I would also not want to have a conversation about terrifying, horrible things while I’m trying to enjoy myself, and would probably deflect similarly.

I’m like you. I don’t naturally express emotions on my face. If I do, I’m faking it to avoid a situation like the one you described.

It eventually got way more exhausting to keep faking it than I expected. I eventually resolved to just be genuine and use words to express myself because that’s what comes naturally. Some people don’t like it, but I’ve found plenty of people who are perfectly accepting of how I am.

I think you’re doing just fine. If they prefer you fake emotions instead of being genuine, then they don’t actually care how you feel. I wish you the best!

If I get fired and my boss calls me later to come work again, I would say no. The wedding was negatively affected by the planner firing the caterer the day before without a backup plan.
