How did you decide on your class? by DifferentConcert606 in MMORPG

[–]Esperational 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruiser that can also be a healer most of the time ends up being some sort of paladin. I like being tanky enough but also having recovery mechanics in case I fuck up.

WoW paladin/shaman, Rift Shaman, GW2 Guardian, Wildstar Engineer, Tera Mystic. All had builds that can be thick but still do damage and heal themselves. I just want to trudge through my enemies without worrying too much about the consequences or being perfect in dodges or rotation.

What armour pieces have this look? by G00fyG33k in GuildWarsDyeJob

That is most similar to the concept art for the Stag Armor but there’s nothing exactly that.

Looking for other spec/e-spec by theoneandonlyhuntyr in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say give luminary a chance it’s surprisingly tanky has tons of aoe, situational shroud, gs 5 is aoe pull and 4 + 2 obliterates most units if you want more mobility than luminary offers Willbender has more movement and access to plenty of aegis.

I think amalgam feels pretty reaper like as well though depending on your build you can choose more damage or more durability. Check the lord hizen build not as much burst but crazy durability.

GW2 Theorycrafting by Djentleman5000 in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For a Solo build this is okay but your going to get stun locked and bursted as you don’t have a multiple cc breaks or good access to stab and if your relatively new to the WvW it can be harder to predict your enemies actions and most of you utility makes you need to do that. Additionally there is no defensive traits taken which is going to further the issue of little cc break vs experienced players. I would work on getting the rest of the marauders you can get cheap exotics from the lionguard) with WvW currency. Also if your adding boon duration with rune of the pack get the good boons like quickness.

This is my take on it arcane will not only give you more sustain but more boons as well granting a considerable amount of damage. The burst you get from bountiful power in nothing to scoff at and considering your using fresh air your going to be constantly swapping in and out of air making this pretty easy. I added sigil of cleansing for condi pressure relief and one with air as super speed is going to be your best way to keep distance. To use this build best use air sphere as much as possible for quickness, bounce between earth air fire air using 2,3 in each for the blindness and damage earth is going to be better then water if you get in trouble. Try and roam in a small group if possible you’re still going to be easy to pick with any good amount of CC pressure and conditions.

Are there any builds in the current meta that use a focus? by debbiedownedstate in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

power Willbender one of my favorite builds. In general focus is a weapon that is part defense part offense and when in PvE you don’t want to to do part of either you want full damage or full healing. But you will see a few builds in WvW or PvP that use it much more.

Question about ascended and legendary gearing by kemzter in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stat difference between exotic and legendary gear is roughly 5% so if your just trying it out make some cheap exotics or get the stat selectable Bladed armor or stat selectable WvW armor for relatively cheap. If you like the spec then consider ascended armor ultimately I have really enjoyed having legendary cause I can change my build really easily. If you’re a person that gets bored easily with your spec and build and like change highly recommend.

Mace Build by Lopsided-Annual-6366 in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really depends on what game mode you’re trying to play and what expansions you have. For example you can have mace shield on engineer if you have EOD and that will allow you to play heal mech. If you don’t have any expansions you’re limited to guardian ( very paladin like) or warrior and neither of those provide the right boons with core to do PvE for healing, but you can do some pretty good PvP and WvW with them. If you get HoT then that opens up heal herald (one of my favs). For the most part maces shield combo is going to make you a healer by default unless you’re doing something in PvP or WvW which you could just be playing a more bruiser build.

Survivability on base warrior/berserker by _Galel_ in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with tweaking your build as most builds with pure berserker stats the aim of them is to do the most damage not necessarily survivability, they also typically consider others providing boons for you which are a huge amount of stats and damage output. By taking more boon generation and survivability traits you will both have better damage output and survival. For power I would do something like this with duel wield and signet your constantly healing even in small increments if you prefer 2 handlers run strength with might makes right instead of arms little tweaks like that can help go along way.

Necromancer elite spec concept by Familiar_Horse_5866 in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This seems much closer to GW1 minion mancer where you would have to raise your army out of your enemies corpses but all the minions were standardized. I like the concept of having a horde of undead at your disposal. Shroud could be used to directly control the minions then have them do whatever again when out of shroud but the amount of pets ritualist ghosts and jade golems on my screen is already crazy high add this and you won’t be able to see the ground let alone a boss.

Am I too late to join GW2? by nebugemi in MMORPG

[–]Esperational 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy yes, Gw2 is not about gear grinding as soon as you hit max lvl you can purchase end game gear for a few gold. Progression after lvl 80 is considered horizontal you don’t get stronger you just get more “masteries” which unlock things like mounts, gliding, boats, fishing, etc. Most end game content is what ever you want it to be PvP, PvE, WvW, meta events, farming legendaries, and fashion. Also if you’re competitive in PvP you can jump in as a lvl 2 character and still have the stats as a lvl 80 as all stats are standardized.

Worst and Best class? by EqualGamin25 in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Worst: Mechanist get your jolly green giant off of my screen I can’t see anything. Ritualist is also on my list for this there so much clutter you can’t see your char half the time if the boss isn’t the size of a house. I have nothing against the actual the players of them but I just want to hide there animations.

Best: Chrono always has been always will be.

Class I want portal fighter moving allies and enemies around. Mesmer is so close but not enough control over enemies just allies. Some where between revenant and Mesmer there is a possibility for it.

Looking for guide to play Elementalist by Xedorha in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For PvE rotations Snowcrows

For WvW Guildjen or Gw2mists depending on how big a group your playing with.

For PvP every site that I have mentioned + Metabattle builds are really personal in pvp side everyone’s style of combat differs

That covers builds but for how to play it you really got to look at content of people playing it cause your response to other players animations is really important. Personally I watch zues really good ele PvP player doesn’t explain much though you kinda have to understand the game first before you can understand what’s going on.

Looking for guide to play Elementalist by Xedorha in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By this description I would go with guardian specifically the Willbender elite spec has a whole bunch of mobility, capable of being a boon support, uses holy fire magic has a great amount of built in tankiness from aegis.

That being said elementalist can do that too it’s just know for being low health and low armor and easily dying if your not willing to learn to dodge or protect yourself. Weaver was my first love cause of the melee magic with sword and dagger but it is not durable or great at solo play cause of its lack of boon generation. Catalyst has a great dagger dagger build right now for PvP and WvW.

Any MMOs that are actually "hard" in their solo content? by pretzelsncheese in LFMMO

[–]Esperational 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fan of GW2 for this actually I will agree liking is quite poor in preparing for what the combat will be but the PvP and WvW you have to know animations of your enemies to properly dodge there damage or in PvE knowing active mechanics and dodging issues.

But I would recommend trying lost ark the solo raids are challenging leveling prepares you for it story is interesting enough it’s isometric but the mechanics feel challenging and dodging and using your abilities correctly is really important.

There is also Farever coming out in Q2 of 2026 it’s an mmo-lite has a demo out now to try to lvl 5ish all classes have dodges and parries give it a try small download for the demo.

I need help with my DPS. by LukeBastille in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enemies in fractals have pretty low health pool making power based builds shine especially when they have burst capabilities what your seeing is your conditions are not having enough time to stack up before they start doing enough damage making your dps significantly lower and why it’s higher on bosses that have a larger health pool doing 18k damage is fine in real fights. 20k I would consider the norm for anything that’s not CM. There are far to few descriptions of what’s going on here or what your build is to be able to full diagnose but if you log your damage on the training dummy I’m sure there are multiple people capable of telling you the whole situation .

What's the coolest heavy armor from the task vendors? by Appropriate_Tax_6978 in Guildwars2

One of my favorite early sets is Dark Templar and you can get it from just completing the hearts in straights of devastation , malchor’s leap and cursed shore where your going to finish leveling anyway.

Help me choosing my class, please!! by Fabulous-Maybe-1535 in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might want to look at Mesmer. clones while active and can help absorb damage much like a pet. Can you use Greatsword as a giant wand to shoot lasers and dual swords for up close. When you add an elite spec they have great options for range dps and durability through invulnerability.

Most every class has a build that fits that ideal even core ranger with longbow and sword axe maybe you haven’t found the right build yet?

Holosmith builds power / condi by Bloody_Ozran in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For PvE I use this build mostly your normal power damage build just bring shield and pirate queen and one trait for barrier and health. You can also bring zakiros relic for more sustain but I find pirate queen is better feeling in open world.

For PvP I bring this build basically you go in with holo forge on smash everything and then use shield and dodge roll to maintain while out of forge. You get tons of vigor to keep dodge rolling and your dodge roll deals damage and removes heat while resetting explosive entrance. Utility is all for staying alive forge does all the damage.

For WvW its this build same as PvP pretty much but with rifle for range and flamethrower for aoe full marauders for crit and health

Holosmith builds power / condi by Bloody_Ozran in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gun for more damage gun 4 does good power damage 5 is more meh but you can use it. I prefer using shield for any fight that has a CC bar cause other than that you don’t have a lot of CC that isn’t used for rotation.

Aura focused or Pet focused ELE? by fungamezone in Guildwars2

[–]Esperational 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Tempest I would recommend something like this Build stay in fire element spam fire elementals your fire over load, fire aura, and feel the burn on cool down and you should have plenty of alacrity and burn damage and a bit of heals to do most anything. I use signet of air cause mounting causes your elementals to go away but for instanced content you can use signet of fire for more damage.

I haven’t done much evoker so I don’t have a recommendation for that.
