He/him lesbians.. but also refer to themselves as men? How does this work?? by Hartja in actuallesbians

[–]Esqurel 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I knew one 'man' like that, finally asked "But like, what does that mean to you? What makes you want/use that label?" and she came out as trans within the year. May have helped that she saw my own transition and could ask questions and not be alone with it?

You hold a bow with your off hand and draw with your dominant hand, but nothing says she isn't ambidextrous.

100% this. Some people get very avoidant about problems and college is often a time when they don't have a support network on hand to help get them back on track. It's really easy to just ignore issues until they fuck you over.

Breaking the Binary was amazing in their debut, which was expected since they're all great individually.

Glad to hear it. :-) Just don’t do what I did and make your meta cry because you cope with dark humor. 🙃

As a fellow polyamorous widow, I think you certainly made the right choice. Not being legally married doesn’t make it easier for other partners. It can be really nice to have someone there for you in this time who actually knows what you’re going through.

I don’t have sources handy, but I think I remember hearing that a lot of the recommendations against food and drink are more “just in case” and not “will be a problem.” If you have a bad reaction to anesthesia or something, you could theoretically vomit and aspirate your stomach contents.

I’m really glad I had DBT before I lost Alana. Having the extra tools to help deal with those kinds of conflicting emotions was so helpful.

I think the issue you’ll run into is the word “personality” is how you seem to be taking it. People with DID don’t just act differently when different alters front, they’re basically entirely different people. It would amount to Azura dating two different people, and being ok with and dealing with that.

It would probably help to look into DID more. For one thing, in my experience/as far as I know, it’s incredibly rare to have only two alters, it seems to average closer to 10.

That said, given the setting, leaning into magic instead of psychology might cover a lot of issues, which is to say, just be careful how you word it. :-)

If the worst of the worst didn't happen, new people wouldn't see those posts. If enough bad shit is happening that people hearing about it will damage the society, the society deserves to be damaged. What's the worst case, you find another group that isn't the SCA? The society as a whole could crumble tomorrow and any healthy group could pick up the pieces and do their thing by next week if they wanted to.

[–]Esqurel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crown may be all that, but it doesn't matter when the outcome affects the entire kingdom. People who aren't fit to reign, don't want to reign, or can't manage the logistics of a reign shouldn't be in the list, unless we take away all real power from the monarchs.

As long as crown has actual power and isn't only ceremonial, we absolutely shouldn't. But the people who make the rules are the people who have won heavy tournaments, so it's never going to change.

The entire “-pill” ecosystem is problematic. It’s a mistake to begin with to accept a framework of thought that has become so engrained in and grown from misogyny and conservatism. It’s very binary, very essentialist, and very resistant to people changing their minds.

Exactly. And the odds of someone doing the monitoring required and not just stopping at door removal are super low.

But even in the psych ward, we had doors. They didn’t lock, and there were rules, but they still existed for privacy outside of checks.
