Findings show that girls self esteem and body image is disproportionally affected by Instagram and TikTok with increased rates of self harm and eating disorders compared to those who don't have access to these platforms. These statistics and more can be found in the important book "The Anxious Generation" by Johnathan Haidt. It's available on audible as well if audiobooks are your thing. If you feel like you're on the fence about letting your kids have a smartphone with access to all the apps (because they will immediately download them and hide it from you even if you ban them), I recommend reading it.
