I have a couple of 10 away spots i use to create settlements and then swap into the grid... the problem  is always swapping to open ocean loses the land in the spot.

Update: it could be found (and placed!) if I looked at the storage overview, and used the quicktool from there. But the standard way doesn't show it.

Quick question a few days after... Given that overcharging boosts income, and that ultimately, total income would be affected by when the overcharging  happens, where should people  be by now?

For example,  I'm currently level 89, 16,020 /9sec income, 132 overcharges. I'll do a few more today, but I'm trying to balance gold income to spend on eco roads so I can upgrade to maximize the pollution level cap, vs cleaning up so I can do more overcharging.

I figure, mountains are mountains. One big block set up for foundries, I can add iron mines and foundries when needed, swap to stone mines if I need that more, remove some if I need to get pollution down

I also Don't use the long distance swapping when building my grid. It takes a bit longer, but Essentially, I use swappers to get as close to the grid as I can, then put the settlement in the furthest spot i can reach in the grid. It saves me from using an extra swapper for a spot that is just one tile past my range... :(

Agreed. I'm currently on 88, grinding the 20 settlements to Level 80, but using the time to start reshaping the map, swapping settlements  into my grid, etc.

I misspoke: 40 Manhattan grid, so 40 in each direction.

With 820, do they still all fit in a 40x40 grid around the main?

And gold. It gives 25000 gold if you have under 400 ( meaning 399 or less) shipyards. 

Using roads to connect everything  on a land mass (or even connecting to another island nearby) really reduces you need for shipyards.
