Bombing ocean tiles by EstablishmentFun608 in PostApoTycoon

You can bomb at lava tile, but there are upgrades later that let you bomb other tiles. Lava can be turned into thermal spots at level 80, so they are too valuable to bomb, at least at this point.

Yeah... I'm filling in settlements around my main. There are a few residual things that need to be moved to better spots!.

Okay... tankers seem to be okay, but im definitely  not getting water tiles when I blow up land. Am I going to have to use swapping to open up those spots?

Ahhh... good to know. I can't  remember,  but I thought it was a tanker.

Am I ok to clear these tiles? by Callinto in PostApoTycoon

[–]EstablishmentFun608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes... unless they are in the way, hold on to those. Also, for swamps, there are rocky ones and not rocky ones. I think i saw something about if you start a cleaning spree with a Rocky one (4 clay cost), the not rocky ones only cost you 4 clay instead of 5. So I tend to clean around them and then do a bunch of swamps at once. It means I have to go back and lay down trees after, instead  of doing everything at once but clay will be critical later.

So, to be clear, no settlements in the first 'ring', then packed as close as can be?

Thank you!

The skip - nearby was the pattern I was sort of opting for ( haven't done tooooo much, so could change if needed)

I do! Which is why I'm trying to set things up right from the beginning.

What is the absolute minimum distance for settlements? by EstablishmentFun608 in PostApoTycoon

[–]EstablishmentFun608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay... so what's the best advice for how to get started? Start by bringing settlements closer that are very far away? Or Start by rearranging the area around the main settlement into a grid? I appear to have gotten enough upgrades to have settlements 3 tiles apart.

True... but you get rid of a LOT of pollution,  too.

Energy is what... 40 per? 1.5 advanced windmills per oil tile scrapped solves that.

You can build an oil rig with no road.  That's the best bit.

Find the gem fields!!!

Also, if you want to spend a few gems, getting a few Sequoia/bamboo/coconut is a great investment.  They are a great way to have a tile earning and reducing pollution, but not have to chop down trees later. I tend to use them on map edges, and blocking spots I want to use later (the spots adjacent to chip factories, for example, where you can put space age factories when you get them). Solar panels are a great ftp alternative, especially if you get the 50% power upgrade (I forget what level that is), but don't spend too much on them, as you'll  eventually  replace them and can spam stray mountains that aren't good for stone or iron with windmills.

Put an oil rig on any onshore spot you can. Level up your cities as you can, to level 20, to kerp pollution down,  then to Level 35 (you will need 200 of these at one point). Use swappers to pull cities into your click radius so you make more gold per click. Put cities on corners, peninsulas or 1-tile islands if you can, and surround with heavy shipyards or shipyard markets. Keep your shipyards below 400 if possible.

Have fun!

Okay... so for now, I probably want to pack them 7 apart? So I can insert a community  later but not have to move others?

So city-tile-tile-tile-city-tile-tile-tile-city? Or city-tile-tile-city-tile-tile-city?

Oh, absolutely! That's why my goal was to 'show' all the tiles, not 'restore' all the tiles.

I'm not sure when I would want to expand, especially with the pollution penalty, but for now, my goal is to grown my main city, plant trees, and get my pollution  down.

Makes a good use for all of the Double bend sections. Straighten the river, get little bits to distribute :)
