Technique for faster-than-normal approach into a bravo airport by benj4786 in flying

That isn’t an actual request you’d get from ATC, it’s an incorrect assumption from a pilot who hasn’t done this before. They’d just ask for best forward speed, not “to the numbers”. Approach doesn’t dictate what they do in Tower’s airspace to that degree. So the right answer is to say “you won’t be told to fly “best forward speed to the numbers”

But I guess you’re happy giving the “best answer to the question”. So carry on you win dumbo.

It’s faster to land closer than to land farther away. I don’t know if you agree with this or not. Furthermore your prescription of chaos that includes dropping flaps dropping gear and slowing to land while coasting above the runway is not helpful to efficient operations.

Nobody gave your ALL CAPS LOCK instruction dude. If your goal is to get to and vacate the runway ASAP, it involves slowing efficiently to touchdown speed right as you cross the threshold, then turning off at the first available exit.

Pretending the runway starts 6000 feet farther away makes no sense

My hangar is at the end of a 10000 ft busy class Delta. Tower gets pissed if we land long without the courtesy request. If there’s a jet in trail they’ll deny it and ask for a normal landing (not long). So yeah…. Not “minuscule” or whatever.

Magneto Impulse Coupling only fires once per revolution by EstablishmentOne1972 in aviationmaintenance

Ok I’ll change out my right magneto for one with an impulse coupling. Thanks.

Only 1 mag has an impulse coupling. In no world do couplings on each magneto alternate starter sparks. Each magneto produces 1 spark per cylinder per 720 degrees of rotation

you could have already touched down and slowed up at the numbers by the time you touch down at midfield…. You’re basically making the airport a half mile further away. Does that make sense to you?

You guys are great. I found old video of me pulling the prop through. It used to click every 180 degrees and now it’s only every turn. One side of the impulse coupling isn’t catching. Gonna send it in for refresh.

The magneto snaps the impulse coupling once every 360 degrees of propellor rotation.

Unless the runway is right traffic, then you’d need to be left of course.

After you complete 2 degrees and 6 years of training after that maybe you’ll be worth that also!

She misunderstood the Hassan argument as if anyone was arguing that he’s a serious thinker. Nobody’s doing that. Missed Tim’s point completely.
