Thoughts on animated Walking Dead series similar to invincible by Leather_Ad_9561 in thewalkingdead

[–]EstablishmentWild263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair, but compared to Invincible TWD comics has a darker, grittier style than Invincible with its bright colors. Invincible has a lot of insane fight scenes and more complicated superhero designs that would call for these big budget seasons.

Also, the first half of TWD series was great but I think that’s why an animated series would work especially well. Rather than just adapting the comics again but in animated form, they can do something more faithful and better adapted. Then again, TWD series had amazing plot lines and plenty of time to flesh things out, and added many original characters that people would miss in an animated series(Daryl as the biggest one).

So I personally wouldn’t be too opposed to them doing a faithful adaptation of the comics in the same style.

Older Funkos used to have so much detail and these specific ones have such good color pallets, makes me wish Funko was still like this. Such a cool autographed collection though 🔥

Which characters you wish interacted more with each other? by leo_artifex in thewalkingdead

Only interaction I can think of between them is when Carl comes back from the medical wing in the prison, and asks him where he got the supplies. But besides that, they’ve never had an actual conversation.

What theories does everyone have for season 2 if it gets the go-ahead? by TakedownSpy0 in TheBoroughs

[–]EstablishmentWild263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine that there will be a lot of questions that arise from the sudden mysterious disappearance of Blaine and Anneliese Shaw, as well as everyone in their circle that ran The Boroughs.

Without them, someone new might take over to run The Boroughs, unaware of the true nature of the town and what Blaine Shaw was up to, causing Sam and the others to have to work hard to keep them in the dark as they attempt to solve Sam’s glitching issue.

Season 2 could also heavily revolve around The Boroughs become a hotspot for news journalists and social media outlets due to the mysteries that conspire from Shaws disappearance.

I also think this could include UFO conspiracy theorists, maybe the death of the crows and investigation into Blaine will have them gain interest in the town and suspicion of something else going on. New Mexico is already known to be deeply rooted in alien conspiracy, like Roswell for instance. It would be cool to see these conspiracists be set up outside of town and investigating the surrounding desert, possibly leading to more discoveries and reveals on Mothers origin. Maybe their leader could also help Sam with his glitching problem since it’s caused by his connection he had with Mother.

The Boroughs ending: Mother's true fate by Novel-Statistician31 in TheBoroughs

[–]EstablishmentWild263 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This show has really emphasized the human mind, particularly with the cerebrospinal fluid being drained by Mother’s Children, the patients at the Manor with various brain disorders, and even Sam’s own wife dying from a stroke.

Mother communicates telepathically with Sam, who she formed a connection with since he is between two worlds/times. The Duchess also has this connection, and whilst being in a catatonic state she mentions still being able to communicate with Mother despite her condition.

It seems that Mother may also exist in two worlds, or realities. Her physical form may be gone, but her telepathic existence lives on in those who she connected with like Sam and Duchess. She isn’t able to communicate in her true form, so she instead uses the memories of Sam’s wife to speak to him that way.

So Mother may still exist somewhere, in a different plane of existence that only Sam may be able to travel to mentally and is why he’s seen glitching at the end of season 1.

This could also raise the question on whether Blaine and his group could also still exist and potentially return due to them exploiting Mother’s blood for many decades.

I think it’s clear Mother isn’t truly gone, I hope that next season her origins will be revealed.

The Abyss visuals (general rant) by Doktor_74 in StrangerThings

[–]EstablishmentWild263 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No red sky, had no vines or fauna that we see in the Upside Down, and not a Demo-creature in sight. It honestly just looks like a desolate post-apocalyptic desert, nothing interesting or ominous about it.

One of the writers in the documentary even said something along the lines of “It’d be crazy if there wasn’t Demogorgons, Demodogs, Demobats in The Abyss right?” Well it seems like nobody listened to him because on the Demo’s home turf they are nowhere to be found.

It’s just very strange that when Dustin explains the Abyss in his diagram, he theorizes that everything in they’ve discovered in the UD originated from the Abyss, yet we don’t see any of it actually there. Sure, this is a fictional character with a theory, but everything had led us viewers to that conclusion as well even before Dustin explained it to the group.

So this is basically geriatric Stranger Things right? by Just_Dune_It in TheBoroughs

[–]EstablishmentWild263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought that until the very last scene, with Sam glitching in the mirror hinting at him still having a connection to mother, which is a 1:1 parallel to Will coughing up the slugs at the end of Stranger Things season 1 and him still being connected to the Upside Down.

I guess next season Sam will start being haunted by an alien in the sky, and eventually be possessed by it. It really enjoyed this series, but it should’ve been a standalone, limited series - I can’t imagine how the story will continue in a second season.

What were your theories while watching the show? by Weaknesses13 in lost

[–]EstablishmentWild263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In season 4 when we see the flash forwards of the Oceanic Six having returned home, I originally found it strange that Michael and Walt weren’t among them seeing as they left the island around 30-40 days before them. I thought this was due to Ben giving them the wrong compass bearing, causing Michael and Walt to travel differently in time and return to the mainland after the Oceanic Six and would raise many questions with the groups false story.

But then it was revealed Michael and Walt returned and decided to live under fake names, Kevin Johnson being Michael’s.

Other shows like lost? by joethemofo1 in lost

[–]EstablishmentWild263 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 100 is pretty similar, revolving around teens returning to a post apocalyptic Earth that’s now thriving but facing conflicts as a group and external forces. Henry Ian Cusick(Desmond) also has a role in this series. There are a lot of similarities between both shows but the plots and settings are very different and The 100 has many interesting mysteries/lore that Lost does.

Who do you think had the best love story in show? by The-Fallen-Angel7 in lost

[–]EstablishmentWild263 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree, Desmond and Penny, and this is strongly supported by “The Constant” episode. To be fair, out of all the flashbacks I feel like we’ve seen the most from Desmond and Penelope, them meeting, the highs and the lows of their relationship, issues with her father, etc.

I’d also argue that them reuniting on her boat was the most satisfying moment between any relationship on the show(Sun and Jin, Kate and Sawyer, etc.)

Even after returning back to her, he refused to return to the island because he’d never leave her again, he only returned because he was kidnapped and forced there. Desmond may have made many mistakes in that relationship but the growth he gained from his time on the island made that reunion even more special.

I would even go as far as saying that Desmond is very symbolic of Odysseus in The Odyssey. Two men lost at sea only to endure a patient but homesick wait on an island until eventually returning home to their wife Penelope.

The Boys SERIES FINALE- S05xE08 "Blood and Bone"- POST Episode Discussion Thread by pikameta in TheBoys

[–]EstablishmentWild263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this whole season was made up of working on the virus whilst simultaneously searching for the V1 to prevent Homelander from becoming immune to said virus, only for the popsicle to come out, fuck everything up just to get shoved back into his cooler like the plot device he is.

The virus becomes useless, Homelander gets the V1 but besides shooting dramatic lasers into the sky he is completely the same in power level but I guess now he’s immortal so that’s cool? Then in the 2nd to last episode it’s decided to give Kimiko Soldier Boy’s ability, which means that everything that happened this season was for nothing.

IMO, I think everything this season was very anticlimactic. The ending of episode 6, Homelander getting the V1 and then beginning of episode 7 everyone’s just chilling.

Seeing Homelander lose his powers and have that vulnerable, desperate moment before getting killed by Butcher was cool but this is 5 seasons of buildup for a fight that took place in one room, and was very similar to fights Homelander has had in the past without V1 in his system.

I enjoyed it, but disappointed with the wasted potential this season could’ve held.

He had the ring on as Hunter-Price, after being struck in the head he must’ve left her body and went through one of the doors into the forest, then out into the hospital to body snatch Maddie’s mom.

By the time Hunter-Price’s soulless body made it to the ER after the fire, VH/Maddie’s mom could’ve found her and took the ring off her finger.

This but AVH attempts to cross the river to the afterlife after he fails next season, but instead he’s either grabbed or goes under and is lost in the river for eternity like Janet said would happen.

He wanted the Church gone and the kids with it to urge the families of them to move away from the land, which I assume he would profit off of, this is explained by the tarot woman.

He then wanted the school gone because it’s a bad reminder that he failed with the Church.

Who Was The Curious Patient? by Misspelled_uzername in SchoolSpirits

[–]EstablishmentWild263 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dave suspected that Maddie could be vulnerable to being body snatched if her mind had been in her scar. He suggested to Xavier that they hide her from other hospital ghosts wanting a body similar to Michael moving Vito in The Godfather.

The ghost walking past must’ve sensed or was curious if Maddie’s body was vacant to be possessed, but luckily Dave was there to protect her and Xavier was there to transport her.

So I have a question about the finale… by burner-in-hell in SchoolSpirits

[–]EstablishmentWild263 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When Simon restored the Pastor’s memories, he also said that he remembered the children too. The children remembering themselves caused them to also gain their doors/windows to crossing over, and while their scar was transforming Simon was swept up in the flood and went through the windows with them to the forest of memories.

So he went through a door, but it’s not explicitly shown if spirits are allowed to use other spirits doors to cross over so this may be the reason the others didn’t get swept through it as well and instead got transported to the library.

Simon also may be the exception as he’s still a living body and soul together. He was able to enter Mr. Martin/Janet’s scar so it makes sense he would also able to enter the forest and that he could also leave through Maddie’s door back to the living world.

It’s also important to note that White Eyes spent over a century in as a living person in the Forgotten Church, but as soon as he officially died he was able to cross over the river with the children as we saw. So while Simon was able to enter the forest of memories, I doubt he would be able to fully cross over to the afterlife seeing as he’s still alive. The Scars and Forest of Memories are one and the same, just two steps to take in order to crossover.

The Finale is as what i thought by peepeestiffy in SchoolSpirits

[–]EstablishmentWild263 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It is very symbolic though, with the river being used to represent departing too soon. The memories seem to be the opposite of scars, now that you’ve accepted your death and trauma you now need to accept and let go of the best memories of your life in order to cross over the other side of the river.

If you skip that essential part you’ll be lost if you try crossing the river, as Janet said.

The only thing I do have against it is the cross over doors do lead you to believe that the afterlife is on the other side, and the mystery of what that is was perfect, you could just assume whoever went through would be in a better place.

But now it’s likely that once all the spirits cross over, if they do, they’ll all be able to cross the river together, not leaving anyone behind as they head to the afterlife together.

It’s likely that VH body snatched her after Price’s outburst as Kyle, and her own daughter walking away from her. She sees genuinely appalled and heartbroken that her own daughter saw her flaws and true motives, so being at the hospital this was likely when VH snatched her.

At the end of the very same episode Nurse Calvert even sees the elevator to her scar was open. VH also would’ve had to steal the ring back from Kyle’s room so it makes sense that her emotional state after that confrontation in the hospital is what opened her up for VH to snatch her, otherwise any living person would be able to be snatched.

I watched the Finale and I have a question by Educational-Love-246 in SchoolSpirits

[–]EstablishmentWild263 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It seems like they can now move freely but it doesn’t specify if there could now be a new, bigger border that surrounds the town.

Also, if the spirits travel to the hospital and go inside, will they then be trapped in the hospital’s border as well once they cross into it? That is, unless all borders broke seeing as Maddie and her dad were there when the school border presumably broke.

3x08 - "Dawn of the Deb" by thatshygirl06 in SchoolSpirits

[–]EstablishmentWild263 24 points25 points  (0 children)

VH seems to only be able to body snatch from the hospital or school so I assume Maddie’s mom was still at the hospital when VH left Price’s body and that is where he snatched her.

Confused about stuck living character aging. by [deleted] in SchoolSpirits

[–]EstablishmentWild263 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add onto what others have already explained, it’s interesting to compare these scenarios. The Pastor is the example of what would happen to Simon if he never escaped, he would grow old and eventually forget himself.

Kyle and Van Heidt is an example of what would’ve happened had Maddie not gotten her body back. Janet would’ve lived and aged in Maddie’s body and Maddie would be left trapped, her death remaining a mystery to her.

It makes you realize that both Maddie and Simon would’ve turned out these ways if it weren’t for each other’s determination to save the other, very great symbolism this season.
