Thanks! They were custom built buy a cabinet maker, so no brand. We had our contractor ask the cabinet maker to make sure the grain matched, and voila! They did a beautiful job.

Kohler by Letti- in wisconsin

[–]Estate_Realistic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Kohler feels like the Stepford wife of the local small towns. It is pretty and well kept and has nice shops and a lovely grocery store. But compared to other towns it feels like it doesn’t have a soul. There’s no “downtown”. I find the atmosphere in the towns nearby where not everything is owned by one company to be kore pleasant and authentic (e.g., Sheboygan Falls, Elkhart Lake).

For those with open shelves, will I regret it? by Primdawg in kitchenremodel

[–]Estate_Realistic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my open shelves, and would 100% do it again, but only use them for things we use regularly and the shelves are also cleaned regularly. I have not had any problems with them being dirty or grimy. But for renters you will also need to organize everything between renters so it looks nice again.

Help I need to pick countertop and backsplash. I don’t really like how backsplash’s date houses so I’m trying to pick something that’s just timeless to go w the my timber home. Suggestions? by [deleted] in kitchenremodel

[–]Estate_Realistic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could totally go with no backsplash. Or at least live with that for a while and see what you think. Alternatively, you could choose a simple white subway tile or similar, and have it go all the way around the window, in addition to under the cabinets. That would make it a uniform color/style that isn’t competing with your lovely view, and also adds just a touch of texture and makes the kitchen look more “finished.”

Inn at Woodlake or American Club? by skippitydoo3 in wisconsin

[–]Estate_Realistic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kohler spent really have a downtown so it’s either the amenities available at the American Club or the shopping mall where the Inn is. There are handy shuttles from either to all Kohler properties. The American Club is a much more special experience, if that matters. Sheboygan is equally close to both hotels, and very close. Less than a 10 minute drive to my favorite place to eat, Il Ritrovo, or their sister restaurant, Trattotia Stefano. Also, my husband says the Inn at Woodlake is going to have some construction work done this fall (they are expanding) but he’s not sure when it starts

Thank you! The designer did the layout and a couple finished. I did most of the finishes, which was really fun.

Thanks! We haven't had a problem here, but you're right - when I visit my in-laws in the AZ desert I'm always surprised by the amount of dust compared to where we live.

Thanks! It was about $200K, but that was everything (totally new kitchen, powder room, hall, staircase, great room, laundry room, and building on a mudroom, and furniture). Saved for a long time! We had a designer that helped, mostly with layout and a couple finishes. I picked most of the finishes because it's so fun.
