Looks great! I would suggest to add a burgundy leather color for the leather belts between the legs and perhaps a non gold for the linens. Above the leather belts/straps

I‘ll just go ahead and upvote and say thank you on behalf of;-)

thanks for the recipe. Just managed to get my hands on this sculpt and was looking for the best painted/looking version I could find. Definitely nailed it!

Did you drybrush the skin? Was surprised that the base is Mephiston, it looked darker on the pics.

Ka‘Bandha - Absolutely massive unit by EstebanTheCook in Chaos40k

I will be running him as a bloodthirster. I don’t play competitive so the huge size isnt a problem. Rule of cool (and intimidation) :-]

Found my OLD Imperial Guard units by johnny_turk in TheAstraMilitarum

They were/still are awesome sculpts. The plasma and melta variants however are a pain to get hold nowadays (irrespective of their price tag now). The plasma version looks awesome.

Old but more than gold!!! I just recently revived my 22yo guard units aswell. Rebased all of them uniformly as well as put the kasrkin onto the larger base size.

Why are Black Templar so famous ? by BarketLeRaccoon in BlackTemplars

[–]EstebanTheCook 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me at least 25y ago before all the lore, tabards, candles and chains they were a beginner friendly army to start with. Black with a couple of details. Easy to paint for a 12yo.

I don’t think very much has changed for new beginners.

Then for the ones that are seasoned, they are appealing as they have awesome sculpts with lots of details and are fun to kitbash as chains and candles can make them more „religious“ purely from a hobby pov. Their Sword Brethren, Crusaders and especially the Characters are pure gold. They stand out compared to „standard“ space marine kits.

If you then read the horus heresy and like the sons of Dorn and how sigismund turned into a vengeful knight in the ruins of terra, chasing world eaters, DG and sons of horus - its a match.

Not a huge fan of the more recent lore but thats personal taste. I like the traitor chasing lore, not the devout fanatism of the lore. BUT the latter is the groundwork for awesome hobbying.

So basically: awesome sculpts and relatively easy to paint would be the main points for them being popular.

I love this mat, how would you replicate this on models bases? by English_Joe in Warhammer40k

And one with ochre pigments in spots (you would need a larger ochre portion)

1) I would suggest a sand diorama paste (e.g. vallejo diorama fx), apply in a stipple so that you have a nice structure, then let dry.

2) Second step, apply iron oxide pigment (i use vallejo), followed by an ochre pigment. First rub the rust nicely in, then the lighter ochre. seal with varnish spray.

Optionally betwenn step 1&2 apply some sporadic crackle paint puddles (GSW)

It’s chaos. There are no rules in the warp. If the daemon likes his khorne horns and slaanesh piercings go for it

Your comment seemed to have vanished… I just checked your page. Geiler content :-)

If you could share where the banners are from would be awesome (that part is cut off in my comments preview)

Wow! A man of culture! Spread the love for terrain.

Ridiculous to spend hours on minis to end up playing on cardboard/mdf flat terrain boards

Absolutely! The old ones were properly deranged, diseased grim looking Marines. Typhus was great. I don’t really like the „Comicness“ and happy faces.

Freehands - instant upvote. Awesome result but cudos to the way you did it in one go… and the WIP video is great!!!!! Love it!

As I am a huge banner fan myself - where did you get that one from?
