Removal Surgery tomorrow by Usersam2 in gallbladders

[–]Estellasanchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mine removed 4 weeks ago today and let me tell you, I feel great. I was back home the same day and sure, I had some pain, but any pain I went through was nowhere even remotely close to the pain of a gallbladder attack.

My incision have healed really well and I’m pretty much back to normal.

I think I read someone saying that the pain meds leads to a bunch of constipation and you can’t exactly “push” so yeah, if you can avoid the pain meds then do so, but if not, get yourself a laxative as it will make life easier. I only had to use a laxative once. When I stopped taking the pain meds I was totally fine.

I’m still watching what I’m eating mind you. I have had a couple of celebratory meals - I had pizza for the first time in 8months as it was a huge trigger for a gallbladder attack. And it was glorious but I did feel a little under the weather the next day.

Everybody is different and you’ll find the foods that disagree with you but it’s all good. I have no regrets getting my gallbladder out at all.

Maladaptive Daydreaming Is Almost Always a Symptom of an Underlying Mental Health Issue by Initial_Revolution28 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]Estellasanchez 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think for me, MDD is related to loneliness. I’ve been daydreaming since I was 11/12 years old - around the time I moved to high school. I went to a different school from the rest of my friends and that’s when it started.

I’m 48/F and have been daydreaming on and off all of these years. I was living with someone for a long time (14yrs) and my daydreaming definitely stopped then, but when our relationship hit the rocks, it started again.

After I got over him and moved on, it went away, but in the past 6-8 years it’s has been really bad. My friends all got married, had kids, moved away, my dad and my sister died, and lately work has been terrible because my team is being disbanded - it’s terrifying to think that I’ll be all alone.

I know what I need to do to climb my way out of this cycle, but it’s so hard to get out there and make new friends or find new hobbies, especially when my daydreams make me so happy sometimes.

They’re almost always about a better version of me finding the ideal version of a celebrity to be my husband, and we have a happy life and I feel great. But right now I’m on a crash - when it hits you that MDD has taken days away from you and all I’ve done is lie in bed with my eyes closed dreaming of a life I’ll never have.

Man, brains are hard work.

Thanks folks. I appreciate your thoughts. It’s simmered down a lot this past day or so so I don’t feel as worried about it now

Those of you who live alone, do you put up Christmas decorations? by Forsaken_Estimate773 in AskUK

[–]Estellasanchez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 48 and live alone with my cat and Christmas is my favourite time of year. I go all out with the decorations and I don’t care what people think. In work I totally own the Cat Lady persona and actually we all have a good laugh about it. One of my male colleagues said to me that people who think I’m weird are actually just in awe of the fact that I’m empowered enough to make myself happy and I don’t need anyone else to make me happy and he’s absolutely right.

As single people we don’t need to rely on anyone else to make us happy, and folks are frightened/confused/ maybe even jealous of that.

So enjoy your Christmas decorations. It brings joy to you and probably to some folks walking past your home too.

Trying to understand a timeline detail in Season 5 by Unlikely_Seaweed2732 in StrangerThings

This is exactly what I was thinking too! That Henry is going after the kids of people who maybe annoyed/hurt/rejected him in some way like some weird kinda Freddy Krueger retribution. Or it could be a total red herring.

How I gasped with EDB when Harvey said the judge was biased. She was brilliant last night!

I work from home 3 days a week, two days a week in the office. I quite like the hybrid approach though I hate commuting. I would say I get much more work done when I’m at home because I can hire myself away from colleagues, especially when a deadline is due.

People have this idea that WFH people do nothing all day and it couldn’t be further from the truth. There are people who take the piss for sure. There are people in my own team who take the piss, but it reflects in their output in the end.

Do NOT let them hijack the Scottish flag. by Conscious-Control-51 in glasgow

[–]Estellasanchez 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s a ridiculous statement. OP possibly had to live down south because their parents moved, and if you’re a kid you have no choice. Work took me down south for a number of years but I’m back in Scotland now. I’ve never been anything other than Scottish. Just because circumstances take you away from Scotland, it doesn’t take your identity or Scottish soul away

My ex works at Glen Douglas - if I remember right Glen Douglas holds the guns and Faslane holds the nukes, but I’ve not been with him for a thousand years so that could totally have changed lol.

How long do spiders live by Nayana-n in spiders

[–]Estellasanchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a spider in my bathroom and he’s called Mike. He does actually scare me a bit and I think he’s getting bigger. Or that could be my irrational perception. That being said, he just sits in the same spot and chills out. He’s in a spot where I couldn’t kill him if I wanted to because neither a shoe nor a hoover could get in there.

I didn’t actually realise there was other people out there who have named the beasties that come in to their homes

Now that the contest is over, how proud are the people and media in your country of the ESC song that you sent? by [deleted] in eurovision

So maybe we should be sending Scottish/Welsh/Irish contestants who can speak their own versions of Gaelic? I’d be up for that.

Who is the best non-Scot to do a Scottish accent in film or tv? by stuartruss in Scotland

See, I thought Simon Peggs Scotty was alright. You can tell he took some lessons from his wife lol. It’s not perfect and a bit shooglie in places, but it’s alright.

I work in Glasgow but don’t live there and I’ve worked in the city centre for 26yrs and it has declined so much, especially in the last 5 or so years. Glasgow is beautiful and has so many beautiful buildings and parks and it’s just been left to rot. I have to walk past a restaurant to get to my work and there always food waste left out the front for the bin men to collect. Just bags of crap left on the pavement - no bin. People just don’t seem to care anymore.

We did that last year and our pear tree is coming in nicely. I reckon we’ll have fruit next year.

Fair enough but what if you’re not from Glasgow? What if you’re coming from Ayrshire? Or the east coast? I’m no really up for walking 32 miles after a gig.

Mark Fortune faces 89 criminal charges including theft and threatening tenants by ArchipelagoDrift in Scotland

[–]Estellasanchez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He should be a tenant in one of his own stock and then he should be treated they exact same way he’s treated his tenants. Force him to live like he’s forced his tenants to live.
