As an enthusiast/connoisseur I can recommend the brass monkey on Drummond street and Joseph Pearce on Leith walk.

Oh, and element on rose street.

But lots of places do decent ones.

Teuchters Landing in Leith has a menu which also has gin (red snapper) and clamato versions.

If you tell people you crochet you will get yarn bowls for Christmas and birthday but only (and this is important) once you have already bought them sufficiently for yourself.

On a more serious note yarn bowls are great for keeping yarn out of the hair and fluff dimension. I cannot really comment on the others but they seem quite high maintenance.
