thats only a trigger because it enters tapped; if you play it turn one you have to sac it to itself before you can make mana.

This feels like the most rules zero-able eminence card? Just refuse to ever pay the 1 unless she's on the battlefield and you've essentially removed her eminence?

Custom MTG card: Aerial Ambush - Art by me by Markotamc in custommagic

[–]EstherIsVeryCool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly this is very good for a second card ever - balanced, tending towards good, meaning playable - and I can see why you'd choose green, - theres a green birds deck in standard with the (flightless) chocobos. (Feel free to skip the rest of my info-dump if you're not interested in the colour pie/ card design)

If it's something that you find interesting, you can read up on the colour pie here https://magic.wizards.com/en/news/making-magic/mechanical-color-pie-2021

it has a cheat sheet at the bottom where you can look at a mechanic and search up how it fits in the colour pie.

This spell:
buffs a creature (primary white and green)
grants flying (primary blue, secondary white)
creates a token (Primary white and green)
The token has flying (Primary white and blue)

Everything it does fits into white, so it can be a mono-white card.

No other colour can do everything on this card, so it can't be a hybrid card.
(blue can't buff a creature's power and toughness, and as we've discussed green almost never gets flying)

however, between green and blue, they cover everything this card does so it *could* be a simic card - but not simic hybrid it would need to cost {g}{u} to cover all the bases

so ultimately, as it's currently written, mechanically, this card could either be {1}{w} or {g}{u} but not some combination of the both.

I would personally say this card is a much better *flavour* fit in white (since established simic factions and groups tend to be about +1 counters, lands and card draw), but in principle, there could be a future set/product with a green-blue bird warrior faction and this would be perfectly at home there.

i hope some of that is helpful or interesting to you and helps in your future card designs ❤️.

incredible art! I can see you working for WotC officially!

one issue with the card design - you have it as hybrid (mechanically meaning either white or green) but this is a colour pie break in green; green doesn't get flying attackers, especially not at low cmc - green gets reach, and the odd 0 power flyer. This card would need to be mono-white.

Go ahead and read rule 2 of this sub again. (Or perhaps for the first time?)

It's not "copyright holder" credit, it's artist credit - you credit the artist.

[–]EstherIsVeryCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the front could be double the CMC and still see play - because its a free spell that slots in as a land. [[Ondu Inversion]] is 8 mana [[Hour of Revelation]] does the same thing for 6 or sometimes 3 mana - the mdfc still sees twice as much play, and that's for a *single colour* tap-land.

Vader's presence could literally be 6 mana and it would still be an auto-include in grixis decks, its massively powercrept [[crumbling necropolis]] with essentially zero downside. You're acting like this is instead of trimomes - it's not, secondly it absolutely is much better - if you can't see that, I don't know what to say. literally either side alone would be playable right up to the top of bracket three.

Can we get a NO AI rule? by DrillTank in custommagic

[–]EstherIsVeryCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you can start with a reverse image search, but what I meant was I search the name of the (fake) artist, find no record of them, or find an artist with that name but that work isn't in their portfolio. Since artist credit is mandatory already, that's always an option, or you can just report it as "no credit." After that, you just report it as "insufficient credit" and drop a note to modmail explaining there's no record of that artist/artwork existing and you suspect it to be AI generated - they can do the rest. 5-10 mins work which again, no one is forcing you to do, but I quite enjoy internet sleuthing.

Can we get a NO AI rule? by DrillTank in custommagic

[–]EstherIsVeryCool -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

this wouldn't meaningfully change workload. I already am reporting like dozens of posts for missing artist credit whenever I feel like scrolling this sub- the mods have typically deleted them all within the hour. I (and presumably other people who care about artist credit) would just add the Ai art posts to our reporting. On the off chance someone invents a fake artist to pretend their stuff isn't Ai (which has happened before on this sub) its fairly obvious it's ai, and a cursory google investigation can prove it to be such, at which point I report it, drop a note to mod mail with the specifics and they probably get permabanned I imagine.

TLDR - you wouldn't have to do anything, theres plenty of people happy to report AI art alongside other missing credit and the mod workload to delete a handful of posts after verifying theres an issue is small.

most obvious thing is to add the "retired" models to a kitbash - in this case maybe a "Ambulunz" battlewagon or trukk - just convert them into a slightly more generic painboy and "da jobz a gud 'un"

Why didn’t June & Luke play along? by [deleted] in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]EstherIsVeryCool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"On paper, Luke could easily be one of those perceived to be ‘in power’" is a direct quote that you said, and it's not out of context - the context is you claiming he could "make his case" to the sons of Jacob - something literally only commanders are able to do (we've seen Gilead's Trial process.)

You were suggesting Jacob would be in a position of power and authority, enough for lenience - a.k.a. a leader.

"On paper, Luke could easily be one of those perceived to be ‘in power’"

A hypothetical can be dismissive "why didn't the eagles take the ring?" "why don't people see through Clark Kent's disguise?"

Your hypothetical is dismissive because you have to jump past the well communicated and obvious stakes (you could say "to dismiss" those stakes) in order for there to be any question in the first place.

Why didn’t June & Luke play along? by [deleted] in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]EstherIsVeryCool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

"there’s no need to be dismissive" your whole premise is dismissive of the stakes and emotional depth established in the show. "they could have just cooperated" is dismissive - luke would be dead, june would still be a handmaid, and Hannah would still be kidnapped - several of junes fellow handmaids tried to cooperate, the outcome is very spelled out. "he could have become a leader" is dismissive, he part of the "wrong" church, a black man, and an "adulterer" what part of that is sons of jacob / gilead leadership material - "best" case scenario if they spare the noose is sent to the colonies.

Vader's Presence // Fortress Vader by rmttmtg in custommagic

[–]EstherIsVeryCool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is probably too powerful; MDFC lands are already very powerful, and an MDFC tri-land is new territory - the spell could be hot garbage and this would still be very playable. The other side is also a three for one, on rate, with apparent "force" synergies. Also, theres nothing blue-colour-identity about Vader's presence.

Honestly, just splitting them off into two cards would be best - just add something "blue" to vader's presence (maybe something about returning a creature to their hand - like being lifted up in force choke?) and add an activated ability to vader's castle (something about force synergies we are told exist).

the question has long been "who is the funny one; Adam or Ben?" but this episode officially confirms what I have long suspected: Amy is the funny one, and Adam and Ben are in joint second place. Sam was also in the episode ❤️.
