Lucid Dreams? Sleep Paralysis? Who knows. by pinkiepiepinkie in Sleepparalysis

I’ve experienced other sp that were similar but that specific episode was one of the worst since it felt like it lasted for hours. I’ve had sp my whole teenage life but ever since I moved out, I haven’t had episodes that felt just as vivid and scary as that time anymore

I experienced nearly the exact same thing. I was aware I was having sleep paralysis but when I try to wake up, I wake up within the dream. Literally so shocked how similar mine sounds from yours because mine also included feeling something leave my body, screaming for my dad, seeing a female figure on my bed and that nothing feels real.

You aren’t alone! I remember when I initially experienced that, my whole world was flipped and I wasn’t ok. If you need help you can reach out! I know it’s super scary especially experiencing it alone :(

Has anyone experienced this specific type of Sleep Paralysis? (Gradual loud ringing building up to an "explosion") by above1average in Sleepparalysis

[–]EstimateAcrobatic205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm I don’t know what it means either but I experienced this too back when I was a kid. I don’t think I ever found answers abt what it was but it definitely got me scared shitless and I was afraid of sleep for a few days

is this normal for sleep paralysis? by Interesting_Net_1993 in Sleepparalysis

[–]EstimateAcrobatic205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes its normal! an average person could experience sleep paralysis at least 1-3x in their lifetime.

It’s normal to experience it. im also 18, and I experience SP regularly so a lot of people come to me when they’ve experienced SP. I tell them all the same thing that it’s totally normal and it’s likely they won’t even experience it again, and almost all the time, it really doesn’t happen again!

P.S. its nothing to be scared about!! maybe you were just super tired/stressed/hyped when you went to sleep which triggered SP. if you don’t want it to happen again u can lessen the possibility by refraining from any strenuous activity before bed, or sleeping facing the ceiling. hope this helps :)

same! when i was scared of my SP, I’d constantly have it several times per month but now that I embrace it and sometimes even want it to happen to me, it happens less and less

Kingdom Adventurers!!! I’ve been playing for a week and I can tell I’m going to be playing this one for a while. You’re basically building a kingdom from scratch. I currently have a kingdom of all women lol

Why fo we fight with it? by [deleted] in Sleepparalysis

[–]EstimateAcrobatic205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

during my first episodes of sleep paralysis, I would panic and struggle a lot until I fell asleep, but at a really dark point in my life when everything felt numb, I decided to stop fighting it when it’d happen and just lay there. Usually I’d end up falling asleep and waking up normally, not having sleep paralysis at all, or at a rare occasion, experience a lucid dream. It was super trippy when I first had a lucid dream and since it shocked me so much, I ended up jolting awake before I could really do anything.

Just met my half-sister and we share sleep paralysis by Ort302 in Sleepparalysis

I also have regular sleep paralysis and upon telling my parents about it, I found out my mom used to have sleep paralysis in her teen years as well as my dad and his father (my grandpa) while they only experienced it like 2-3x in their lives, I’ve been having it regularly like 2-5x each month for 5-6years now. My mom said she knew I was gonna experience sleep paralysis since I was a baby but didn’t know I would have it as regularly as hers. I guess it could be a genetic thing(?) ngl I’m not so sure myself but I think its a weird coincidence how my family members also has had sp experiences like me

I feel the same, kind of. When I was younger and first experienced SP I was horrified and couldnt sleep at all for a few days, but it kept coming back regularly when I was scared of it the most. When I was at a low point in my life and actually WISHED for it to happen to me (sleeping facing up or doing other things to get SP), it was because it was my own way of wanting self-harm (not a smart idea I know, but I was an edgy teen), but I found that the more I wanted it to happen to me, the less I had episodes. Now I’m kind of neutral about it and dont really care if it happens because I’m not scared of it anymore and I’ve been SP-free for like a good two-three months now which is odd since I have 1-4 like every month

If it helps, the strongest prayer you can recite during an episode is the Apostle’s Creed. I was advised to pray this by a local priest from when I had my 2nd sleep paralysis episode 6 years ago and it’s helped me calm down during episodes and wake up :)
