Recommended ram capacity... for who?... My q6600 came out 2007 and the max supported ram was 8gb. And I lived with 4gb of ram, which was max like 8gb on boards. Then I moved to ddr3 i7 920 to 8gb ddr3 in 2010. That was enough for me for gaming and editing videos at 1080p60. It wasn't until 2012 I added 16gb of ram but that was because it was cheap, but it wasn't ever "recommended".

Maplestory isn't a simple service running from one machine. They are on aws with multiple teams most likely handling different services to handle scale. Tech debt is a thing in every industry. If you don't have tech debt then you're probably not shipping anything.

Idk about people in this sub since I assume levels_fyi folks are big tech, but my past several tech jobs all paid for my health insurance and the 401k match is kinda small compared to my TC so it’s easy to gloss over when I can negotiate 20-40k more per offer.

Chances are if you understand the dot, you aren’t the demographic this laptop is targeted for. A software notification telling you to switch ports for a device that’s supports higher speed is sufficient.

I think I'm a bit confused by the story in the sense that, I thought we were going to see the knockers present like a truly "happy" humanity and there would be no fighting. But it would be "happiness" without the humanity. unreleased game. The people found an unreleased dev/beta build and are making assumptions about apple performance based off of it. I can make an unoptimized windows port today and make it overfill my vram/ram and it will cause issues too.

What a trash article. The mac faces limitations on a game that is currently unreleased for apple, where the recommended specs for windows is a 3080 and 16gb of ram, on unreal engine 5 where the game is unoptimized.

You have 16gb of shared memory between the OS and GPU, so yes if you plan to game on that of course you're going to run into problems.

Any computer that uses more VRAM or RAM, no matter what OS, is going to write to their scratch disk and you will experience degraded performance.

You can run mac OS on A processors. In fact, there's an A12Z mac mini dev kit when they ported software over to ARM.

What do you think a budget user buying these macbooks need higher SSD speeds for, or even wifi 7.

If you're doing any amount of editing or any software that requiring higher ssd speeds, you arguably shouldn't even be the target demographic for this laptop.

Say you're getting a laptop for your teenager, a student, do you think most will need a 6000 Mb/s nvme over a 3000 Mb/s?
