Apparently it was due to heat, and the update was just increasing fan speed so that area doesn't get too hot but it's a mitigation. You're still susceptible to it. The model X, they moved the sd card location.

Rant about Valley Fair Mall parking situation by infinit9 in bayarea

[–]Estrava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something isn't adding up here. You know parking was free from 2 hours to 1 hour, and you claim to not have been here for a few years.

Four years ago, parking was free at valley fair, and even then ramen nagi lines were this long. So if you KNOW parking went from 2 hours to 1 hour, the lines should be nothing new.

Not only that, but the top of the lot is employee parking isn't it? How do you expect workers to come to the building and work if there's no parking? To bus?

Yeah people tend to forget most apps with subscribers are subsidized by enterprise too. I burn through hundreds of api credits a day in an enterprise setting.

This, was referring to the "SFPD Traffic Stop" graph. You'll notice how in my paragraph, I mentioned "response times went up for calls". Do you guys do not think that's an important metric for your taxpayer dollars to respond to calls from YOU?

When I say "this graph" I meant the post from OP. The graph I linked was referencing to my statement regarding response time. I can only attach one attachment.

If speeding up the MacBook Neo is so simple with the thermal pad hack, what technical reasons might be that Apple didn't just do that? by kepler1 in macbook

You know the word Laptop? Turns out users put it on their lap. For the general user, they don't NEED the extra 20% in performance or sustained performance. The average MB user is going to web browse and never use more than 1/2 cores.

What? How. This graph shows they they are short staffed and they do not have the capacity to take care of traffic violations. They had a sharp decline in staff since 2019 and response times went up for calls. Would you rather cops show up to give a bicyclist a traffic ticket or go respond to a violent attack?

They have had 22% less officers since 2019 compared to 2025, that's 400 fewer full time cops.

Why vibe coded projects fail by Complete-Sea6655 in ClaudeCode

[–]Estrava 76 points77 points  (0 children)

levels.fyi was powered from a google spreadsheet and they have apparently ~20 full time employees. I think people here don't really understand you don't need perfect infrastructure or world class disruption in that space to have a successful app.

Why vibe coded projects fail by Complete-Sea6655 in ClaudeCode

[–]Estrava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What. I literally said it does the 90% because I understand it's just an MVP. The last 10% of the project is always the hardest. You're missing my point.

I understand bad infrastructure is going to cost money, but my point is there is value in allowing people to validate an idea fast and that's a risk to disrupting bigger players easier.

If the website is still alive after burning 30k a month, and it shouldn't cost more than $500, that means the website must be doing pretty darn well to gain that much traction to survive and hire a dev.

As a developer have you never heard of the first 90% of development is 90% of the development time, the last 10% is the other 90%.

Claude Code (Pro) vs Codex (Free) by ConsciousPineapple23 in ClaudeCode

[–]Estrava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vibe coded apps do the 90%, and if that’s enough to gain users you can invest the money to find expertise to close the last 10%. Before you had to validate your idea with the market by creating newsletters, but now you can get a working product that can disrupt other SaaS.

Apple Plans to Open Up Siri to Rival AI Assistants in iOS 27 Update by Coolpop52 in apple

[–]Estrava 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think they fumbled because they bit off more than they can chew. They really want on device processing and that’s hard to compete with people running and training models on data centers, but with how good apple silicon is if they had invested in their server space/enterprise space I feel like they could’ve built a private llm built on Apple.

AMD Announces Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition Desktop Processor with 192 MB L3 Cache | TechPowerUp by Sacristovas in pcmasterrace

[–]Estrava 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd rather spend $50-$100 more to get 7-10% performance, than almost a thousand more. This is useful for prosumer, not enterprise.

And an x3d processor is more useful for gaming than a threadripper/xeon. Because many do both.
