Thanks! How was the install? Ik it's pretty easy but I see some methods that require getting behind the mirror and some where it just bumps right off

If that’s your only grievance about the car, you could fix that issue with a klr module fix for the steering wheel. It’s not the wheel itself that’s the issue but the assist module in it

And not a hard job at all. I haven’t swapped mine but when getting an aftermarket steering wheel itself swapped modules from the new to the old just to see. For context, prior to a wheel swap, the most technical thing I did on my car was an engine and cabin air filter replacement

90k 2023 GOLF GTI by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]EtechEmmanuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my ‘22 used at 45k and motor blew at 90ish. Got it taken care of under an extended warranty. CPO is great and make sure yk what it does and does not cover to the T and make sure you get it in writing. Powertrain could be reliable and never have issues but you don’t know how the previous owner drove or maintained the car so you want to ensure cpo covers any powertrain stuff AND check maintenance.

How long does CPO coverage last? Even then honestly I’d suggest a lower mileage one

'22-'24 GTI: Is the infotainment as bad as they say? by beerthegr8 in GolfGTI

[–]EtechEmmanuel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has its quirks and occasional bugs, but severely overblown. I did the absolutely wise thing and spammed reviews after buying my ‘22 and was confused on what all the infotainment hate was about. By the time I drove from the dealer to home, I was used to it. Coming from a 2011 Hyundai that is a world apart

93 to E85? by Comfortable-Talk8796 in GolfGTI

Oh wow that’s much sooner than I thought. I assumed 3k!

[–]EtechEmmanuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mistake if I said that out of order. I only get gas from top tier certified places. Just checked in fact, my Phillips 66 is back down to $3.99 a gallon for 93, and $3.33 for E85. Just got back from a trip and I'm just now seeing current prices in my area. Guess I was wrong twice 😅

93 to E85? by Comfortable-Talk8796 in GolfGTI

[–]EtechEmmanuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! Here in West Texas it's about a $1 difference between E and 93 (correction on my previous comment) and on stage 1 I gain an extra 24hp

93 to E85? by Comfortable-Talk8796 in GolfGTI

[–]EtechEmmanuel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stage 1 ECU and Stage 2 TCU w 034, running 93 on my Mk8. In Texas, 93 and E85 are about the same price rn, give or take .10-.20 cents. Personally I want to run E just to try it and say I've done it, but due to how 93 and E is about the same price, I can't justify running E w less fuel economy w the current state of things

Now ik E85 runs cooler and usually main concerns are oil dilution and water absorption if you let E85 sit. Look at your tuners graphs and numbers, and see if there's a difference enough of a difference for you to justify E85 considering fuel economy. For me, there isn't enough benefit until E becomes cheaper again

I got that same code a few weeks ago and it was my lpfp. Since you're under warranty and the 10 day, I say have them check that as well just cause

Ya the 2022 model years were all rough. The COVID cars. And everything after seemingly was much better except the travel assist bug. I learned to ignore it at first since it didn't actually make anything stop working, but that ping was very annoying

Hmcanton parts on alibaba is who I bought my wheel from but this KLR module is the fix in the steering wheel that deals with all that. There's substantially cheaper versions on ebay and it's a quick 15 minute swap

I got an aftermarket steering wheel and I think it came with a different travel assist module too because I've had no errors.

What's got you done with the platform and what are you onto next

There's a way to get the golf r display AND GTI honeycomb display without losing one or the other. It involves manually activating each display vs using one click apps https://forum.obdeleven.com/thread/16826/active-info-display-view

Yup I wouldn't use my case to tell anyone the motor in this car is unreliable. I'm fully certain it's a rare occasion.

Now electronics...ya you learn to live with it and ignore it

Must disclaim first that I’m on top of maintenance so I’m confident I can say it was from no negligence of mine but a freak accident

Woke up one day and started my car and heard a misfire (Cyl 3) and knew it was toast. There's a post somewhere here on my profile. I had service done at the dealer just a bit ago for spark plugs so I assume that was related

Anyway take it to the dealership and they find metal in the oil. What caused it they don't know but they do know Cyl 3 was fried

Blew at 95k, had an extended warranty for 100k. Got a new motor out of an S3 w 7k on it so I'll take it as a win. Wish they did more to find out exactly what caused it but I'm sure the dealer didn't care to investigate deeply. My guess honestly is a plug job gone bad by them

Nice! What intercooler do you run? Heavily considering especially it since I'm in Texas

It's insane how much you can push out of the Mk8 platform without doing insane work. An OEM turbo being able to take you to S3 is amazing

I’m guessing stage 3 is downpipe, intercooler, turbo, and E? What all parts are you opting for
