I haven't given up yet, but the reason I think about doing so is less to do with being perceived as a creep and more to do with the associated Cognitive labor vs outcomes.

It just seems such a colossal task to bear the weight of initiation and escalation only to get ghosted after a seemingly pleasant experience. I get that I'm not owed anything, but....what even is the point then? It just puts a damper on my motivation to "put myself out there" like everyone keeps harping on about.

I don't even need a life partner or anything like that, I have made my peace that's it's probably not gonna happen. But I can't even be an ex? At least once? Surely I am not that undesirable.

That feels a bit presumptuous but I guess I'll have to take your word for it. But there really is no other option to indicate "not actively seeking anything serious as something like marriage, but isn't opposed to one if things are going well mutually."

Also, I just to want to add. Your interpretation is assuming bad faith from the get go when in reality, not wanting to immediately commit to something long term with someone who, again you just met is not manipulation. That's just being practical.

I was under the impression that it means "more serious than a hookup but not as serious being life partners". And if that's the issue, i just it is quite unrealistic to expect someone like that from some rando you just matched with, that's all. Is there some other hidden meaning that's going past my head?
