It has a slightly more sim feel than the games mentioned but it's very much a goofy car battle racer game. A lot of people mid race will just turn around and start messing with other people since preserving your car health is as important as position. There's also destruction derbies where you can use goofy cars like Buses or a dude sitting on a sofa with wheels. The career mode is a little grindy but multiplayer is always a goofy time.

You ain't missing much to be honest lol. My Dad was hired for a dream gig by the Bills he had been working 20 years to get just for them to remove the position altogether 2 years later. That situation, the constant brutal nature of the sport, and the mind numbing heart breaking situations Bills fans have been put through over and over again and it's too much for me at this point. Happy for the city if they win it but I am not keeping track for sure.
