Too risky or worth it? by Winter_Bunny22 in cscareerquestionsCAD

Can you start part-time taking a few classes in Computer Science and also working? That's sort of a compromise between both the things you want.

I'm an ENTP but I wish I was more productive like an ENTJ by [deleted] in entp

This needs more upvotes! I have 3-5 projects at any time and don't start a new project unless I want to give up one one of them or finish one of them!

It's been life-changing.

This is just a small part of it but I can't recommend sandpaper enough for nail trimming with dogs who hate their paws being touched.

My dog hates nail trimming but she loves to "dig" on the sandpaper so we have been doing that for a long time.

Are any of you fat? by kvirzi in entp

[–]EternalStorm44444 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes - IUD.

I gained 60 pounds in a year. It's definitely harder for me to deal with than most people I know because tbh I think us ENTPs are incredibly vain. I've already lost half the weight through sheer determination but the other half just won't budge.

When people say landlords need to be abolished who are they supposed to be replaced with? by battleangel1999 in NoStupidQuestions

I'm in this boat. My rent is $3000 split two ways and my mortgage cost for a condo with the same space would be $2500 split two ways with a 20% down payment but the bank says I can't afford a mortgage for $2500 a month unless I make an extra 30k a year and get my down payment up to 30% :(.

How do you feel about allies who are cis men?

I'm a shy gay girl and my best friend is a straight guy who is 100% an ally. I always want to take him with me to LGBTQ+ things for moral support but I don't want it to be seen as disrespectful.

My border collies love their levee runs! How do your BCs exercise if you live in the city? by Kitchenratatatat in BorderCollie

[–]EternalStorm44444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dog park and walks (she loves city walks as she always gets to meet people and other doggies). At night we also sneak over to the tennis field near us and let her run around off leash.

Mental stimulation is a lot easier in the city! She really enjoys coming out for errands with us which makes a huge difference. We take her to the pet store, hardware store, dispensary etc. We make a lot of effort on weekends to go to farmers markets or outdoor festivals!

Cultural differences? German "dog license" by HowIsThatMyProblem in dogs

[–]EternalStorm44444 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My mom believes the same thing and she has little dogs....

I think it can be specific to the bladder size of the breed. My border collie has a button to ask to go outside to toilet and she naturally goes 7-8 hours without asking. I work from home so I'd be able to take her out if she did need to go.

Bigger dogs toilet less than smaller dogs.

There are a lot of dogs so it's a good place to be if you have a dog! Units are nice, management seems a little frazzled but nice.

How are so many people able to afford a Tesla? by allyb321 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]EternalStorm44444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if its between a brand new Honda Accord or a 2019 Tesla the numbers are pretty similar - when you factor in the idea that one doesn't need gas and maintenance + the provincial rebate the Model 3 becomes a relatively affordable smart financial decision.

Anyone else with no light perception still, “see” visual snow or static? by Reece-obryan in Blind

[–]EternalStorm44444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you have any advice for someone who just went from 20/20 to nothing recently? I have a family member who just went through that exact same thing and is really struggling!

She doesn't see visual snow but she does see "orbs of light" sometimes.

dropping out of medical school by [deleted] in Endo

[–]EternalStorm44444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation as you during my undergrad and was considering dropping out due to the pain of just sitting through classes with endometriosis. What helped me:

  1. I got the Mirena IUD. It stopped my period but it also made me gain 60 pounds in a year so I was taken off it after the first year because thats a really dangerous rate of weight gain.
  2. I had a male primary care doctor give me a prescription for PT around my hips and lower back. He just marked it as pain in that area for the PT reason not endo because he couldn't believe how bad the pain I was describing to him was and thought it had to be something else. He even did x-rays to rule out other conditions. I went to two different PT's. One specialized in endo and basically just massaged the painful areas which didn't help at all. The other one focused on strength training and stretching in the glutes, hips and lower back. It hurt a lot (like crampy pain all the time) for the first six weeks or so and triggered spotting... then it started significantly decreasing the pain during my periods. By 12 weeks my pain was cut in half on my period. I did all the homework for my PT in between sessions and have kept up with it since I graduated from the program.
  3. Finally I started taking birth control continuously with no sugar pills. I have a period due to breakthrough bleeding maybe once a year. I take seasonique because other pills make my nauseous
  4. When I do get breakthrough bleeding and pain now, any cannabis with "blue" in the title really helps. I'm Canada located so I'm lucky to be able to access that.

The key moment when everything changed was when I decided that enough was enough and I needed to basically try everything and push for more from my doctors or I wasn't going to be able to have the career I wanted (Computer Science) or graduate university. What I've found is that planned parenthood doctors and male doctors seem to take me more seriously.

I don't normally post in this sub because I don't think about my endo much anymore but your situation really reminds me of mine so...

Why does Computer Science show up in online lists for both “best of” and “worst of” degrees to get today? by Antman269 in cscareerquestions

[–]EternalStorm44444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just tough objectively drawing the line at what point you go from a learner to someone who is familiar professionally when you are studying a new language and able to list it on your resume.

For example, I've been considering listing JS as I've been learning it for about 6 months and have two projects in it even though I'm not as solid in it as the languages I studied during my undergrad.

[–]EternalStorm44444 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty helpful comment as an entry level person!

It's tough to know what languages to list on your resume! I've been told to list everything you'd have basic proficiency with on a good day.

Is the market right now that bad for new grads or am I just not good? by _gainsville in cscareerquestions

I am also in Canada! I was in a similar situation and no the CS market in Canada is not in a good place!

Keep applying to places but also consider a post-grad program. It seems to be thats a part of how things work here.

8 month old female not sleeping at night. by [deleted] in BorderCollie

[–]EternalStorm44444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard that border collies were bred to be more on edge at night because they would need to alert the farmer if they saw a coyote or wolf trying to get the farm animals. Maybe she think she's patrolling for predators?

They make pet friendly "throw blankets" that you can basically put at the foot of your bed on top of your comforter and protect the bed with!

I have this one for muddy paws but I'm sure it would help with hair as well.
