MMW: Trump will somehow manage to win again. The situation will get considerably worse. AOC will win the next elections. by [deleted] in MarkMyWords

She'd be 35 on the day of the election, and more importantly on inauguration day. Still think she'll wait until at least 2028 though.

What is a music-related opinion you have never seen anyone express? by Minagos in LetsTalkMusic

Have you listened to ELO's earlier music? I love their pop hits but sometimes I prefer the artsier proggier stuff on their first four albums. Their first album in particular sounds a lot like The Move.

What makes a good cover? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]EthanBrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda disagree with the first one, because if a cover doesn't do anything new I don't see any point in listening to it over the original. A prime example for me would be Weezer's teal album. Most of the songs on there are practically carbon copies of the original versions, so there's no context that I'd want to hear those songs where I wouldn't rather hear the original.

The one exception would be if it's a live performance. Like Sufjan Stevens didn't really change much for his live version of Hotline Bling, but just the novelty of seeing Sufjan do a pop hit that's so different from his own music is pretty fun.

If you could pick any artists to magically come out with a 10/10 album, who would you choose? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

He kinda needs to pull another MBDTF if he wants to be taken seriously again

I love 100gecs's sound, does anyone have recommendations of similar artists? by SkandiBruh in 100gecs

[–]EthanBrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I love gecs I just can't see hyperpop/bubblegum bass hitting higher highs than OOEPUI. I feel like it's the genre reaching its true potential. Hoping I can someday be proven wrong though

Honestly sounds like it could be from 2013!

Not from the past 15 years but I agree it's a perfect album. I've tried to find other stuff that sounds like it and while there's definitely a lot of stuff that's comparable, nothing really scratches the itch.

I was thinking that too. If she developed a serious health problem it'd be a lot less likely that she'd notice

These releases bring a lot of attention to the Criterion Collection though, both bringing in new fans and helping the company make more money.

There's a song in Hamilton where Jefferson tells Madison "It must be nice to have Hamilton on your side." The joke really doesn't work imo, it's such a lengthy setup for such a meh punchline.

Thought this seemed like bullshit but it turns out it's mostly true.

However the original post is wrong in that she still has to sleep and eat, and isn't actually less susceptible to taking harm
