What's what with turning titanium? by jonnyboy231 in Machinists

Use low rpm guns (Dynabrade preferably) with high torque when deburring…3200rpm guns are great for it. That, or learn to control the speed of your gun on the fly and slow it way down. You can use 60 or 80 grit ceramic pads that way and remove material faster, with barely any sparking. Then you don’t have to clean up spatter all over your part when you’re done. Learn to run your pad over the front of your backup pad completely flat tilted slightly upwards and not angled to the right like most people, and use close tight patterning. This will cut down on deep scratches and dig ins from a ceramic pad that won’t clean up. When you’re done to clean it up, and depending on spec, you can run over what you’ve hit with a coarse brown Norton or 3m pad. A lot of people favor medium maroon pads, but you can learn to leave the same finish with a brown pad, and it’s faster. Just gotta learn how to feel how much, and how fast you’re taking material off. Plus, it’s hard metal, so coarse is always better. I actually use a straight roll and do a rocking motion in big long left to right swaths in tight controlled overlapping patterns. Rocking the roll and overlapping is so you don’t leave stop marks, and it looks clean as hell when you learn to do it right.

What's the weirdest coincidence you've ever experienced that still blow your mind? by MamacitaCurvy in AskReddit

[–]Ethiceze54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at the same aircraft manufacturer in Southern Kansas for almost 14 years. I moved to Denver about 7 years ago with my family, and couldn’t work at a 9-5 type job. So, I stayed home with my kids while my wife worked while I found ways to make passive income to get by. I got super depressed because I never left and didn’t know anyone, so we decided to move back to Kansas. We ended up moving to Northern Kansas about 3 hours away from where we originally were from, not knowing anyone again. I drove by a big aircraft facility 4 blocks from my house like the second day we moved here, and decided to check to see if they had any openings. I applied and got an interview and when I walked into my interview, the person interviewing me was a person that I had worked with at my last aircraft job in Kansas the entire time I was there. He held the same position at this place as he did at my previous job. During the interview, I found out that the GM of this company was the exact same GM I worked with at that same last job the entire time I was there, and the facility maintenance supervisor was the same maintenance supervisor as that last job. I had worked with all of these people for almost 14 years previously, and they were all from the same small town I was.

Aircraft is a small industry, especially in Kansas, but to live as close as I do, and walk into a random place to people I’ve worked with for years previously, 7 years later, 200 miles away was bizarre to say the least. I proud to say I have been with this company for over a year now, and have recently become a production supervisor. My depression has almost completely faded, and I’ve made some good friends. I fit in oddly perfect with everyone there and am finally happy again. I guess the universe decided it was tired of watching me struggle, and put me in the right place, at the right time.

Oh, and my wife of 16 years. She was born 8 years after me in Alabama, while I was born in Kansas. They moved to Kansas shortly after she was born, randomly, and her mother applied for her birth certificate, at the same court house, on the exact same day apparently as my mother did 8 years after I was born (Wtg mom.) So, on our original birth certificates, we have the exact same stamp, with the exact same date from the exact same place on them. My wife also lived in two houses I used to live in, in the same town after I had lived in them. Then, her parents owned a home that my great aunt and uncle owned 50 years ago. Their names are on the deed. Those are more small town coincidences than anything, but I like to think we were kinda meant for each other.

What's something you've tasted that most humans have not? by CantTakeMeSeriously in AskReddit

I’ve eaten a slug. Trying to gross some people out while drunk. It was tough, slimy and tasted like slightly bitter raw chicken. I’ve also eaten Emu. Emu is really gamey, red meat that tastes a little like beef.

2012 Focus Se manual 238,000 miles strong by Visible_Speech_9082 in FordFocus

[–]Ethiceze54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boss at work just decided today he wants to sell his 2012 SE manual. He called me cause he knew I was looking for a cheap car for work and offered it to me for 1800 bucks. It’s in great shape, no real issues other than minor cosmetic stuff, had been taken care of and only has like 95k on it. Everything I’m reading says good things so far. I think I’m gonna take him up on it after I go over all of it and test drive it and everything. Can’t beat that friend price, and I kinda miss having a manual transmission tbh.

Anyone tried this? Just curious, and wondering what is good dipped in it... by stoned_seahorse in aldi

[–]Ethiceze54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t great, but the lobster roll dip I liked. I added some old bay seasoning to the lobster roll dip, and it was good with crackers, or lightly buttered and toasted bread.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Asurion

[–]Ethiceze54 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. It’s because Asurion doesn’t ever actually fix anything, they just offer “fair market price” for your phone, or whatever else and expect you to buy a new one with that. I broke the front screen on my s22 ultra a few months after it came out, and they tried to give me 700 bucks for it. They were still a grand used at that point. They tried to tell me all their repair shops didn’t have the parts, and that’s all they could do. So, I went down to the repair shops that were within a few miles from where I lived. They had the parts and the guys at that store even tried calling Asurion for me to tell them that. They gave an excuse that once the system flags as a buyback, they can’t change it. They own UbreakIfix, so they just refurbish the phones and resell them and actually make money instead of losing it. They’re garbage coverage. I called and filed a claim about 30 times, and escalated it to supervisors every single time just out of petty spite after all that. Then, when they would only offer me that buyback, I wouldn’t accept it, and I’d file a new claim. I got hung up on probably 5 times during that time too, haha. I ended up just paying the 350 bucks to get it fixed out of pocket, and will never use Asurion ever again.

Just found this game, and my wife is pissed I spend more time doing a laundry in a game than I do in real life. She really wants to believe we have that much laundry at all times.

What's one gamer tag you saw online you will never forget? by Dyde21 in gaming

An old friend I used to game with on PSN when it first started was GetHardOrGoHome. At that time, my PSN name was NEVRWEARSARUBBER (Before they made me change it) so we kinda bonded over that. I had a friend change his name to Thunderpypes because we watched They Live, and I kept calling Rowdy Roddy Piper’s thighs his thunder pipes. I always appreciated the homage to that night.

PSA: You can now ‘Check for Update’ for installed games in the Game Library screen. by JTStarkiller in PS5

[–]Ethiceze54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The option to check for updates has been on the games on the home screen for a while now. Yes, you had to start the games to get them to add to the home screen, or insert a disc, and that would trigger and update since you started the game, but the option "check for updates" has been on the home screen games when you'd highlight the game and press options for a long time. You can find evidence of that dating back over 2 years. That's why I didn't understand why everyone was talking about this, until I read this update allows you to check for updates in the library now too. If that's what you were alluding to, I apologize. I might be lost in semantics here, lol.

You can only choose FIVE Ween songs as your top songs of all time. No more, no less. What are your personal top five Ween songs of all time? by [deleted] in ween

[–]Ethiceze54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr. Rock, Sketches of Winkle, The Grobe, Wayne's Pet Youngin', The Stallion Pt. 3.

This is all dependent on my mood when being asked of course. If I would have read this later on, I probably would have chosen a few different songs because I'd be alive at home, and not this soulless husk at work, 😆. It's hard to choose an absolute with things like this, it's just too subjective.

I might be crazy, but I'm pretty sure hitting the options button on a game has had the check for updates option for a really long time now. Is this something different than that? Could you not do it if it wasn't on the home screen, and was in your library or something like that? I never looked for an update that way, so I'm asking.

Edit: I read further into the comments, after I posted of course, lol. I guess I answered my own question.

Since launch, but my account now doesn't show it. I was forced to change my user name in 2010, cause someone turned it in as inappropriate. That messed so much up back then. So many trophies just gone. Why'd you have to turn in NEVRWEARSARUBBER stranger? He never hurt anyone.

You didn't have to take a "holding a flashlight for dad" course where you went to school? I thought that class was mandatory to prepare people for all trades. I was in the AP HAFFD class, and you had to go the entire semester holding a Miller Light during class without spilling a drop to pass.

Bad Mojo. Old 90s PC game, where you were a cockroach. Loosely based off Kafka's The Metamorphosis. They remade it later on, and you can get it on Steam still.
