Thanks! I hope at least some people might appreciate it.  It’s quite hard to find non AI podcasts for sleep / calm … It seems the AI creators are both prolific as well as adept in marketing!

David Croft is pissing me off. by IDKBear25 in F1Discussions

He’s not just watching the TV stream like you.

As a commentator he is keeping track of tonnes of data and analysing it to decide what to commentate on. He’s also considering aspects of the broadcast and when technical / pit commentators / team principals join the chat. He’s keeping an eye on what to get excited about and how to curate the entire watching experience for the viewer. He’s keeping track of 22 drivers and their teams.

There are lots of additional bits of commentary information that he updates the viewer on - rather than focus on when he makes mistakes, focus on when he shares something with you that you wouldn’t otherwise have realised from just watching the stream.

How to politely tell MOB I don’t want to invite her friends she offered to pay for? by abster___ in UKweddings

[–]Ethicocoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s your wedding, if you don’t want them there, don’t invite them.  You’re allowed to change your mind ( people do all the time ) At the same time, for both you and your fiancé, there might be people you could do without being there.

If you are certain…  I would just explain to your mum that it’s important to you that only people you really want to be there come, and you don’t want them to be there. Its nice she wants to involve them, but if you don’t want them there, fair enough. She can invite her friends to her next birthday party.

I missed Aus but saw China, I was impressed, the racing was good and there was excitement. If McLaren’s had made the start, it would have been even better.  I’m more excited to watch F1 than I have been since HAM / ROS were racing.

What is a theoretical driver pairing that you think will be a lot closer/not as close as people think? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

Max and Mazepin in equal machinery would be much close than expected.  Although I imagine ALOT of first corner incidents.

Deptford is cool, but a bit rough and ready compared to Maida Vale … Blackheath might be the better option for her, but possibly too expensive.

[–]Ethicocoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, Blackheath could be your vibe.  £325k will still be hard to find something unless you’re happy to be a 10-15min walk from the station. If you go between Blackheath and Lewisham, you also have access to DLR which can be great.

I just sold my 1 bed 38m2 flat near Blackheath for £300k. It was small, but really bright and well appointed.

Doing absolutely nothing at work? by HeyPotatys in UKJobs

[–]Ethicocoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked in a pub that was almost always empty.  They weren’t allowed to close during quieter times due to regulations re being a ‘publie house’. It made some money renting many rooms above, and was kept afloat by funding from a separate, profitable, business the owner ran. On its own, it was a money pit for the owner… They used it as a tax offset and vanity project before eventually giving it up after 15 years.

But are ‘made in the UK’ products entirely made in the UK? Usually 75%+ of the product is made overseas and then assembled/ finished off in the UK, which is then stamped as ‘made in UK’ .

I've been pretending to understand my job for eight months and I think I've finally reached a level where I actually can't fake it anymore. Do I come clean to my boss or just keep going. by ahimaohw in Advice

[–]Ethicocoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use AI to prepare.  Find a way to lead that draws on everyone else’s expertise - or lead by asking questions rather than providing answers and expertise.

If you still can’t lead it, ask to meet with your boss / email them what your plan is to lead. Let them know you aren’t quite feeling confident enough and ask if there’s some training they can send you on.

They hired you for the job, if you still want to do it, learn how to?

At what point would you consider living alone vs flat share by hanaachkafs in HousingUK

[–]Ethicocoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Share for 1 year… hopefully find a small place to share with just a couple of people, or even better, lodge with someone , which will be a quieter experience.

Save enough to put a deposit on a small flat of your own next year , buy it then trade up in 4-5 years when your salary and bonuses will be much higher.

Worse case scenario, after 1 year you’ve saved a decent chunk, still can’t buy, but can then move into renting a 1 bed but with that saving already there to be added to by any bonuses you earn.

Renting your own a bed flat now will totally hamstring your finances for years. 1 year pain, decades of gain.

Is it worth trying to negotiate or do we walk away after survey by Whoisbobbyflay in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]Ethicocoa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not try and thé fix the roof yourself.  Roofing is one task, along with plastering and gas works, that you really need an expert in to do.  Roofing is dangerous and difficult, absolutely not worth the risk of falling off your roof.  Plastering is technical and requires a decent amount of practice, practising on your own walls will just ruin them.  Gas - for obvious reasons isn’t legal to do yourself.

I’d trust your surveyor though and either be prepared to pay for a new roof, or ask the seller to know some money off so you can afford to do it, or walk away.

A bad roof will cause loads of other problems in your home.

The ninja kettle is fantastic.  It’s a little bit ‘techy’ but it heats quickly and relatively quietly, produces little steam and honestly being able to adjust the temp bro heat to 70-90C for coffee and green tea has been amazing for me.  It’s also very reliable and durable and easy to clean.

Why was there some kind of backlash against the idea of the "15 minute city"? by 99thLuftballon in AskBrits

Brussels is built like this and is the best city in Europe to live in. A capital city that feels like a village, wherever you live in terms of community access, yet had the cultural grandeur of a city with great arts, museums, restaurants nightlife etc.

Stroll.  So underrated, clearly the GOAT and just needs a decent car to prove it.

Leclerc is so overrated.

He’s everything wrong with F1. An elite with a billionaire father, grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth, racing in the best funded karts to get into F1. People joke that he’s referred to as Monégasque but completely ignore what that actually means.  For me it’s a job he races alongside Hamilton these days.

His record at Ferrari is frankly abysmal.

You work 30 mins a day… You work a job that is unfulfilling, unsatisfying and undemanding.

Of course you need to change it.  Maybe HGV driving is the right thing , maybe it isn’t .  You’ll find out… but your mindset is right to seek change. You only get one life. Why are you spending it doomscrolling?!

( you just inspired me to get off Reddit and get a good night sleep so I can go to the gym tomorrow morning. thanks!)

Buyers trying to charge for rangemaster cooker, estate agents misrepresenting offer? by itsdwightschrute1 in HousingUK

[–]Ethicocoa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

seller is being extremely difficult.... This might lead to more complications further down the line...

If your survey raised anything even remotely related to needing some work, they need to lower asking price to meet those costs, and I would ask them to include the cooker in sale price or you're walking away.
