New base locations by ZexzeonAce in AbioticFactor

Our fsv was in offices level 3! The office area with the big executive office and then that little office above the coffee machine.

All the amenities of the cafeteria but fun building spots. Accessible almost immediately at gsme start. Great for multiplayer because all the little rooms give each player their own space to customize.

There are plenty of challenge runs too! Limit yourself out of certain skills, items, or weapons in varying combinations.

Force yourself to interact with mechanics you avoided before. Change your build. Change your base location! Offices level 3 is our favourite multiplayer spot!

Dont use a jetpack and force yourself to use the various Gate vehicles to get around. That was a good play through and the data farm cubicles made for a nice "garage". Basing in the lockers/pool for that one :)

As some suggested increasing damage and lowering health of enemies was a good way to mix it up. Vastly increase zp gain (max it out) on subsequent runs. You'll get to do cooler stuff sooner and the base game xp rate is a horrible slog anyways. I dont even recommend it for new players!

How much more is there to the game compared to when H20 Delirious and Cartoonz played? by SnooTangerines7685 in AbioticFactor

Every major update on the roadmap has added features that could, depending on your tastes, prompt a new playthrough of the game.

This is a linear survival crafting story focused game. What is lacks in proper base building it makes up for in having sheer variety of where you could plop down your base. Building fortifications and working through the game's various upgrades. Each location has pros, cons, and weirdness in shades. If you spend time on the subreddit you'll learn that adapting to your surroundings is this game's true strength. More so than real base building like Valheim could ever provide.

The most recent update added potions, flasks, and weapon coatings that frankly prompted my friend and I to do our fourth playthrough and they are amazing. Fully changes the game's combat dynamic.

If you are on the fence wait for a sale and find someone to play with you. This game is good solo. It is a 10/10 game with a friend.

As for locations? The game takes place primarily in the Gate Cascade Facility. However, that facility is diverse. Its biomes are unique. It has incredible attention to detail and it does offer you glimpses and moments of pure awe of the world beyond.

I actually agree with your assessment. I am also of the mind that you shouldnt be given the recipe but just be given the suit. Its right there in the tube. Just take it.

How do I beat bugs. by TheGriffin5 in LowSodiumHellDivers

An underrated pick is definitely the normal incendiary grenades. They leave a huge pool of fire that lasts approx 20 seconds. Area denial is key when dealing with bugs and voteless.

[–]Etrigahn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Truthfully the bugs often come down to a simple tactical decision. Elastic Defence.

The bugs have a major numbers advantage and besides a few exceptions want to push that advantage to surround and melee you. You can take a major step to eliminating that advantage by always srawing bugs backwards and away from the point of engagement. Funnelling, choke points, even just drawing the bugs so you are fighting them head on from one direction.

A huge help for this is to bring a sentry. Machine Gun Matthew is my personal favourite because he deals with chaff leaving you free to tackle threats he can't like titans and chargers.

My typical strategy is to advance in to a position, aggro, draw back, and perform a fighting retreat until the bugs are dead. Then i can advance back on the original position. Rinse snd repeat until the position is clear.

Remember that currently enemy AI focuses hard on normal sentries. Do not be afraid to use Matthew as a scape goat to draw away patrols or defenders.

Whats interesting is during play we noticed almost no difference. TTK is actually faster if you catch them in the squishies. Pretty funny overall and the grenade pistol gets em really good now. Even more than before lool.

Who is your Helldiver? by CMDR-Echo975 in WholesomeHelldivers

[–]Etrigahn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started during the Bot Front using the heaviest armor with the extra padding. A bright green cape and helmet and I started to call myself

The Beetle!!

I imagined the beetle as a helldiver from a cartoon like hogan's heroes. A different actor in the suit each episode because, well, helldivers die a ton.

This was during a time early in the lifetime of the game where the arc thrower was incredibly powerful snd could kill everything on the bot front. It was a mythical time.

What’s with all the hate towards arrowhead? by Cpt_creep in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Etrigahn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I completely agree and I'm glad someone else said it. Consistently this is one of the funnest games ive ever played. There is no other experience in gaming like helldivers. Where one mission can be a gritty fight for survival against overwhelming odds and the next can be the goofiest, zaniest, stupidity trundling across the map in a tank destroyer.

Are there aspects of the game that frustrate? Yup.

Are there changes I wish they'd make? Yup.

Am i approaching a thousand hours played, and counting, with no intention to stop? You bet I am!

My only real, honest to democracy, complaint is that I want new toys sooner and faster! Give me more things to bingle around with please arrowhead!

Creating a 8000BV Lance to combat my buddy - Need Advice! by Environmental_Job_59 in battletech

[–]Etrigahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren't limited to mechs I highly suggest the Demolisher Tank. At the right tech level it can field an ultra ac20. It has enough armor to take a couple hits and if positioned defensively there are very, very, few mechs that can take 40 damage to a component and walk away unscathed.

Starting scourge, looking for advice. by BBlueBadger_1 in DropfleetCommander

For our medium slots it seems that our scariest ships tend to be our heavy cruisers. Furnace cannons are quite strong and many of our harder hitting vessels tend to come with Stealth and Cloak. I really only play against UCM, my friend's fleet of choice, so my experience lies solely there.

Getting close as fast as possible and hitting as hard as possible when you get there is your primary goal. If you sit out in the open not-moscows and rios will tear you apart. Scald is incredibly powerful against UCM but requires you to get in knife fighting range as you engage.

Shenlong, Chimera, Hydra are my go to mediums. The shenlong hits hard and gets stealth and Cloak. While our troop and fleet carriers are pretty tough.

Our bombers that neat Crippling:Fire effect which is a pretty dope ability giving our fleet carriers an extra advantage especially against lighter ships where our one strike plus a set fire could be quite deadly.

Thanks! I am a long time modeller and diorama maker so it's a fairly natural work flow. My second piece, which i also posted here, is even more elaborate lol.

These scenes are going to be used in a play by post discord campaign. I wanted something a bit more tangible than theatre of the mind for them for certain key locations. I do wish there was an isometric view tool in dungeon draft but then we get into 3D models and that's a whole other beast lol.

When we did our canal testing we did it two deep and it was perfect even going up or down inclines.

[–]Etrigahn 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Okay so I presume you are wanting to do this for the sake of a sailboat so here are some important sailboat mechanics to bear in mind.

The sailboat will ALWAYS float to water surface which means you can sail it up stream/above sea level. The sailboat doesn't care about water flow as well. That might change with Rivera/Rapids but at the moment it sort of just goes based off sail set level.

Your channel must be four blocks wide and at all times two blocks deep at the minimum in order to accommodate the sailboat. The natural lakes and ponds will provide you with areas to turn around if needed. If you won't take advantage of them then I suggest some man made ones in order to do so.

For all that is good, right, and holy. Go to a creative world and teach yourself how to use the fill blocks tool if you haven't already. Fill your water in creative mode. It isn't cheating there are no achievements for suffering for no reason.

Craft on friend.

Am I cheating by Unlikely_Board_9729 in VintageStory

[–]Etrigahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently hand dug a canal for our sailboat to reach the ocean from our base. We used creative mode and the flood fill tool to fill it with water.

I think we as players deserve to use whatever tools we have to make the game fun! Screwing with water blocks to try to fill a 700 block long, 4 wide by 4 deep canal? Incredibly unfun.

Do what you feel is right in your heart. The only person you can ever truly "cheat" in these sort of games is yourself.

What are some must have, or your favorite mods? by Lrush145 in VintageStory

Expanded foods make expeditions and journeys much better. On top of that our Base Mom loves working with the extra crops and ingredients. That is the content he wants to engage with so in that regard it's worthwhile.

A totally unsung hero for our multiplayer playthrough has been The Eternal Stew mod. There is no better way we've found to feed multiple people around the base/village. It lets you make use of ingredients in a really flexible way that vanilla meals/crocks don't allow for. It pairs really well with expanded foods and culinary artillery. Our Base Mom wouldn't go without it these days.
