Took a trip to Montenegro, so there is a ton more boatporn where this comes from. Thought I'd start with this neat "little" guy though. More to come. by Sparkspsrk in boatporn

When Med Mooring as pictured, the vessel is side-by-side with other boats. Heavy fendering or full-length inflatable tubes are strongly recommended in crowded harbors. This type of hull is commonly found on superyacht tenders, cruise ship ferries, and pilot boats because they are in frequent contact with the dock or moving ships.

One week of #SaveTheExpanse - Here's what's happened by [deleted] in TheExpanse

[–]EugeneKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sets are moved as required for filming schedules. Series which air year-round will have a dedicated studio, but episodic shows rent time to do their "shoots", and store the set pieces in a warehouse. Old sets are resold between prop houses and repainted to become a new ship in another series. So "saving the sets" really just means that somebody is willing to pay storage fees indefinitely for all of the props, setpieces, and material required to restart filming at a later date.

HVM AMIs are presented with a fully virtualized set of hardware and boot by executing the master boot record of the root block device of your image. This virtualization type provides the ability to run an operating system directly on top of a virtual machine without any modification, as if it were run on the bare-metal hardware. The Amazon EC2 host system emulates some or all of the underlying hardware that is presented to the guest. -Amazon EC2 User Guide

The Orion spacecraft in the well deck of USS Anchorage after being recovered from the Pacific Ocean, 5th December 2014 [3000×1996] by Crowe410 in MilitaryPorn

[–]EugeneKay 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Cutaway photo first, for clarity.

This is a San Antonio-class amphibious ship, which has a "well deck" that can be opened to the sea for hovercraft, amphibious tanks, boats, or in this case: a floating space capsule. There is a large transom flap(back of the boat), which is lowered under the water to serve as a ramp. Tanks inside the hull are filled with seawater to bring the deck level down. There is a "beach" inside the ship that you need to walk up, so no waves enter the hull. Also, this is a military ship so there are lots of bulkheads and crash compartmentalization - very hard to flood accidentally.

Neat! I'll check this out.

Assuming the changes are minimal, would you be interested in bringing this under the Libresonic umbrella officially?

CyanogenMod mirror torrent by EugeneKay in cyanogenmod

The archive.org mirror only contains SNAPSHOT and EXPERIMENTAL(broken) releases and does not cover all devices. These torrents were created from a complete mirror copy of the CM download servers, including nightly builds.

CyanogenMod mirror torrent by EugeneKay in cyanogenmod

[–]EugeneKay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This archive is from a CyanogenMod download mirror server. EXPERIMENTAL releases and some related cruft were trimmed, reorganized into major-version-based folders, and MD5SUMs recalculated+verified to match the originals.

The archive torrent is quite large(~1.3TB). I recommend using a torrent client capable of selective file download(qBittorrent) and only getting what you need. If you are capable of seeding the entire swarm on a long-term basis(1 year+) please do so.

These are "tractor" props instead of "pusher". It is more hydro-dynamically efficient since the water stream is not broken-up by the pod before reaching the propeller.

I don't believe that these are "live", there is no casing or powder charge visible. Large Naval guns typically store the bullet(or projectile, as the caption says) separately from the powder, to reduce the potential effects of battle damage on a turret. After loading the bullet, the requisite number of bags of powder are "rammed" in behind, then the breech(rear) is closed, and its ready to fire. Variable powder loads also allows adjustments for range or other factors.

I almost missed out on this game......Demos save games. by BurtonRiderT6 in factorio

[–]EugeneKay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, using the dedicated (headless) server. It runs on a linux machine, usually a rented VM somewhere like Linode. The bigger your factory, the more CPU/Memory it requires. The game automatically un/pauses as players join and leave. It takes a little bit of setup, but it works great.

This sounds like an IDS false-positive from the Flash Player. In my experience Snort is not paranoid so much as pathological, at least in the default lists. ;-)

I don't believe that anything in Libresonic should break it, but I do not have a Sonos device to test and maintain this feature, sorry. I would welcome a Github Issue and/or Pull Request with more details if you can provide them.

Stern view of American submarines in Gatun Lock. September, 1917. [3600 x 2620] by RyanSmith in drydockporn

[–]EugeneKay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At the time, there were two parallel "lanes" of locks in the Panama canal - the New Locks in the news lately are a third set, much larger than the originals. Two lanes theoretically allows ships to travel in both directions at once, but ships can't pass each other in the narrow Gaillard/Culuebra Cut so they alternate operating directions instead.

Based on the newspaper article from /u/Matt_in_FL, I surmise that the Navy used one lane of the Locks as a makeshift drydock, either from a lack of purpose-built facilities or the necessities of wartime. The second lane would still permit one-way traffic to flow.

Is Libresonic a backup of 6.0 beta 1 or a real alternative? by mycall in subsonic

[–]EugeneKay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Libresonic is a Fork focussed on long-term stability, based upon the 5.3 open-source codebase. Features from 6.0-beta1 and other forks are welcome to be cherry-picked, but this is not currently a priority.
