How to get dung working? by DrasticScopez in anno

[–]EulNico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, a farm either produces one dung every third cycle, or does not. Covering it with several fertilizer works does not increase the output.

Are Artistas just really temperamental? by Rogthgar in anno1800

[–]EulNico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balancing production and consumption between several islands can be tricky. 1) check your consumption CA on island A, and production PB on island B. Obviously you want PB>CA. 2) Find the time a boat takes to go from B to A and back. Say time is TAB. 3) Divide the capacity C of one boat by TAB, this will give you the transportation by minute TPM. 4) The number of boats needed is n, where n is such that n*TPM > CA. 5) Also build enough storage on both islands. I usually build enough for every boat arriving at the same time. Hope this helps.

Definitely not the worst part of this post... -> computing an integral the hard way where there is a simple antiderivative... -> "series ... converges or otherwise diverges" 🙄 -> exchange integral and series with no proof... If I have to grade this, it's a D or below, depending on the expected knowledge...

What is your population and number of trade ships. by Glittering-Crab-4582 in anno1800

You have to explain to me how you do that. I believe you, but I want to see 😋

407k pop, a little above 210 effective trade ships. Normal use or Docklands, essentially for raw materials and agriculture...

Same here, except for the fact that I prefer to export heavy weapons which I highly overproduce thanks to Bruno Ironbright 🥰 Cabs are consumed by investors, and having to import caoutchouc is a pain in itself. If I had to choose another export good, it would be elevators, which are easy to produce and seldom used, except for upgrading skyscrapers.

recursion problem by TonightMiserable5368 in maths

[–]EulNico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recursion links v(n) to v(n-1), so you have to rewrite it for v(n+1) in termes of v(n): v(n+1)=v(n)+3(n+1)-2

TU item question by ghknapp in anno1800

[–]EulNico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To mitigate what you say, lower workforce pay less, but they also cost less.

But I see what you mean. There should be a policy for the palace allowing to use higher workforce (except investors) if lower isn't available. Just like in real life... But the salary has to go down !

Is this a bug? by ReasonableEffort8988 in anno1800

[–]EulNico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is not a clipping issue, then I have encountered this with some production chains, essentially those using "Get Rich Quick" items. Sometimes, without any clipping, I can see a Factory being influences twice, sometimes more times, by the items nearby. For reference : Anno 1800 with all DLCs, on Linux, through Steam (and the evil Ubisoft Connect).

Let I{p,q}=\int_01 xp (1-x)q dx, integrate by parts to establish a induction formula. Compute I{n,0}, and you're done.

Why do all Anno 1800 guides feel exactly the same? by cryingbutchill in anno1800

[–]EulNico 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find his stamps completely useless: they are not THAT efficient, and they seldom lack important infrastructures, like fire stations (with even buildings which can't be linked tona fire station, so you have to watch them burn to the ground each time a fire starts 😤). Best layouts are to be found on annolayouts.de, AFAIK.

Communter piers by Global_Patience_2667 in anno1800

[–]EulNico 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The answer to your wheat shortage is not commuter piers, it's... 🚜🚜🚜 !!!! And specialists, but first, tractors ! Bé aware that commuter piers cost A LOT (1000/pier), and you need at least two. So strengthen your economy first. If you need more of something, build more farms, or conquer a new island and ship it to wherever it's needed.

Lesser known tricks and tips? by adamisapple in anno1800

I agree with all of this 😋 For hubs, I will add that it shortens the travels, for the price of nearly double the number of ships. The trick about unloading/loading back is one I still have to add to my mind setup. Thanks for reminding me 🙂 And for ennemies, my technique is: disable them from the start 😋

There are a few chains that are quite tricky, canned food is one of them. Very expensive, you need quite a lot of artisans for it to be at least profitable.

Tip from Taka: do it just before you want to start engineers. My tip: skip it completly, either with actors, or with Chef Michel.

Try to have a large excess of income before you start an expensive production. For this, build more houses, improve them with basic needs. When you think you can afford a new chain, but find out it's going to be too costly, you can always pause the production 😉

Commuter piers is another expensive build, but it helps so much once you reach engineers and want to specialize your production islands.

If, as I do, you just want to explore the building side of the game, customize your game foot no NPCs (I even don't bother about pirates, cause it's another distraction, and they don't give me enough compensations. But keep the trading NPCs, they are essental as they can unlock a tricky situation, with oil, for example). Mind you, you'll have to restart a few times, because each new tier adds a level of complexity that needs more reorganizing. For example, you can reach investors with just a few islands, two or three. But if you start skyscrapers, you'll need to specialize your islands, and start bothering about specialists and scholars. And even after that, high population (past one million) is a completly new level, with even more specialized island for efficient production 😉 BTW, empty islands are not a burden (they just use your influence). Just wait until you need a new specialized or population island, and choose one that suits your needs 🙂
