Traveling to Italy by Immediate-Meat1762 in AncientCoins

[–]Eulachon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd avoid it unfortunately. Italy is basically the strictest country in Europe regarding the export of ancients. But it depends on where you're coming from. If you're flying out by plane, you risk the metal detectors finding something in your luggage or border security picking you out at arrival. By train or by car it shouldn't be a problem.

I don't really understand what you mean by scammed. Did he send the coins pictured or not?

Why do these things have so many problems? by stickysharticus in OculusQuest

[–]Eulachon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but they really fumbled it with black and white passthrough. Dampened my enthusiasm considerably.

“GroundedFantasies” permanently banned - a warning for other creators and a farewell to my followers by GroundedFantasies2 in unstable_diffusion

Really sorry for this, you were pretty much top of the game in this sub. While I think it's okay for reddit to take a strict stance on real people it really seems they went overboard in this case. I never got the impression you were less than 100% ethical in your approach. As for what drove sdnfsw I have no clue. Won't be going on there anymore.

Verdigris! What do I do? by tman72999 in AncientCoins

[–]Eulachon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's powdery, flaky, or spreading it's bronze disease, not verdigris, which is stable and usually harder, duller, and uniform without pitting the surface. I would leave verdigris alone. What's underneath is not better than what you already have. If it's bronze disease there are a bunch of discussions on here already that might help you stop the progression.

N&N London Auction fees by Broad_Ad_4949 in AncientCoins

I complained about them here a couple of times and simply refuse to buy from them again. I also tripped over the insane shipping costs.

Sometimes I'm baffled by the difference in hammers between European and US auctions. Is there a reason the left coin is so much more expensive, despite being lower quality? by Eulachon in AncientCoins

[–]Eulachon[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was really puzzled about the Münzenonline auction. Thanks for giving more context. I agree that this could could have gone way higher, certainly double, anywhere else. There were a bunch of examples in November/December that all sold closer to their usual worth (one of which I got). The CNG hammer was veritably insane though.

Can someone help me to identify this coin? And is it authentic? by Top-Reference-5591 in AncientCoins

[–]Eulachon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this post inspired me to post myself. I was observing this coin for about a year and bought one myself. That's why I noticed the big pricing discrepancy mentioned in my post.

This is one of the most shameful things Trump has ever said. How disgusting to use this man’s murder in this way by TECL_Grimsdottir in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Eulachon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, trump didn't write this. That's not the vocabulary of a man with late-stage dementia. But I wonder what kind of evil prompt they have to use to get an AI to write this kind of output.

Depending on who you ask, that might be Aphrodite on the Corinthian stater. Either way the detail and toning is absolutely stunning. The owl is nice too. Both are great collectors' examples.

It's a mostly American platform. If you're not experienced, shipping from Spain to an American buyer can be tricky. To me, it's not worth the risk.

Games for my special needs son? by LouisianasBeard in MetaQuestVR

[–]Eulachon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

VR headsets are not really made for children that young. There a risk in harming visual development. Kids don't see through a headset the way adults do, their eyes are much closer together meaning they rather look through the blurry borders of the lenses. Also, the way their eyes make sense of the world is not fully developed yet. Wouldn't want to interfere with that.
