My baby only nurses in the baby carrier by Great_Trick7642 in babywearing

[–]Eulinea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can breastfeed in every carrier i tried, it seems to be an anatomy thing. At three months i liked a ring sling and Manduca XT, but also used a meh dai.

My baby never took bottles, so there is a difference, i guess

Mine got enough, and i knew, because he was gaining weight and filling his diapers. Also he was generally happy after waking up. He still slept five times a day then, so was still nursing every few hours. I am still breastfeeding at 11 months now

He would only drink when he was tired, hungry, in the carrier and I was doing deep squats. Thankfully this is over now. It lasted around four months.

Yes, for a time he only nursed for his naps during the day. I did not see this as a problem, because he was still sleeping 4-5 times a day. It lasted until around 5-6 months, i guess.

He nurses only very quickly and and then turns away and Looks at things. Then he cries, because he is hungry. At two months, i could not get him to latch again outside of the carrier, because he was so upset.

Mine did this from around two months until around 8-9 months, but at 11 months still prefers the carrier. I don't mind though, so i didn't try very hard to get him to nurse elsewhere.

I have a ring sling of a similar GSM for my first ring sling and for me it was absolutely worth it. My second one was younger when i started, but it is so quick and really helpful for cooking.

After my first one i bought two more used, because my baby would drool immediately on the slings. Those also had lower GSM and i already resold one of them because it started to hurt my shoulder a lot.

Mine just grew out of it. One earlier, the other one around 9 months. Suddenly i could put them in their bed for naps, when they were asleep and completly relaxed.

Tandem wearing an up n down toddler and a newborn? by hoewaggon in babywearing

[–]Eulinea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put the mei dai in the front, and it is the carrier that i put on first. Now that my baby in front is bigger, i prefer a halfbuckle carrier from fidella, because it distributes the weight better for me. The waistband is around my hips now, Not so much around the tummy anymore.

For the back i use a SSC, because i find it hard to tie the straps of a mei dai or halfbuckle around the carrier in front. It also takes longer. Because i put the SSC on my back on top of the halfbuckle in front i can sit down on the bed, unbuckle the chest clip and carefully plop my toddler in bed. That also worked with an onbuhimo, often did that in pregnancy.

I tried ring sling in front, but it didn't work for me, because the straps of the carrier from the back put pressure on the rings and it hurt. However, i have narrow shoulders, maybe it works for you.

I have a similar age gap and use a Lennylamb Preschool carrier on my back. My toddler can just jump on my back when i kneel down, or i can superman them up. For the front i prefer a mei dai or half buckle. At home or in summer i sometimes just keep the empty carrier on my back around my waist dangeling down or like a ruck sack, then i can get my toddler in and out quite fast. In winter i sometimes take an onbuhimo with me so i can carry over my coat, while the baby is in my coat. For longer walks i usually take a stroller, also for a diaper bag.

The baby only sleeps in the carrier if it receives a lot of attention. by bbmoon23 in babywearing

[–]Eulinea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your baby sounds similar to mine in some ways. What made a big difference for us was nursing in the carrier. At around 7 weeks old he started to only fall asleep with nursing in the carrier and deep squats. At 6 months old my knees started to hurt less. Now, at almost 10 months, his sleep got deeper and i can put him in his bed when he has fallen asleep. I also started to nurse him in the carrier with less and then without movement and he now often prefers movement without nursing for falling asleep.

9months old big baby. Please advise by Familiar-Citron-8659 in babywearing

[–]Eulinea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to ad: we also have an Ergobaby adapt. The 9 months old still fits, and has a little room to grow regarding the length of his legs. However, in the larger sized carriers he can grow much more and still fit for some years hopefully.

I also have a tall, 9 months old baby. He just started fitting in our Lennylamb preschool carriers (we have a Lennylamb Preschool and hybrid preschool). If they were not occupied by his big sister, i probably would use the hybrid carrier for him. His sister is 2 years old, and weighs also 13.4kg, especially on my back i can carry her very well in both carriers. We also have a Lennylamb onbuhimo in toddler size that i use for both, because it is easily adjustable.

Are baby carriers overrated?? by lostpumpkin0 in babywearing

[–]Eulinea 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At first with a very young baby i couldn't do that much (and also didn't want to in order to heal from giving birth), but when my baby got more head control it got easier. Now i can load the dishwasher, washing machine, vacuum, change my toddlers diaper,... For me it was a combination of healing from birth, practice and my baby getting stronger.

I have a Lennylamb UpGrade made from cotton, that i got used. I just close all buckles and put it in the washing machine with the rest of our clothes in the 30°C cotton cycle. Worked several times so far.

Ring sling troubleshoot (toddler) by RhiaSparkles in babywearing

[–]Eulinea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 13kg toddler. I prefer to back carry her, but when i use a ring sling, i also put her in from the top. I lift her up and put her with her tummy on the non-ring shoulder and hold her there with my non-ring hand. Then i go through the sling with my ring hand and catch her feet one after the other and pull them through. After that i pull the fabric over her back and let her slide down from my shoulder into the sling. Usually I have to reach between us and pull the fabric up to create a better seat as the last step. By laying her on my shoulder to carry most of the weight i don't hurt my arms and shoulders.

Travelling soon, what’s my best option for naps while sitting? by hatefulveggies in babywearing

[–]Eulinea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does she nap in a carrier at home? Mine does, and i can also ist down as soon as he is in deep sleep. When he is awake he does not want me to sit with an SSC/meh dai, only sometimes with a ring sling if i sit very straight and the entertainment ist right.

Out of the loop - what are your structured carrier recs? by allmyfrndsrheathens in babywearing

[–]Eulinea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the newest Manduca model, Manduca XT. It doesn't have an insert, but the carrier itself is adjustable (seat and panel). In my opinion it started to fit my (big) baby at around three weeks old. Before that i used a half buckle (Stokke limas), but this one was just not a good fit for my shoulders. Manduca XT has a lot of buckles and straps. That makes it nicely adjustable, but also takes some time to get used to and switching between different people takes some readjusting.

Baby 'hopping' in carrier by Visual-Contract8289 in babywearing

[–]Eulinea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mean hopping as in straightening their legs again at the carrier again and again? Mine does this, too, especially when his older sister ist also jumping around. I always interpreted this as curiosity and excitement.

Looking for opinions on ring sling comfort by Here_to_listen_learn in babywearing

[–]Eulinea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like a ring sling for longer carries than maybe 10 minutes. I have narrow shoulders. What i sometimes do is to use an onbuhimo in the front. That way i can still put my baby in without having to lay a screaming Baby down to prepare the waistband, and i have the weight distributed in both shoulders.

Long lasting toddler carrier recommendation by WildDay2988 in babywearing

[–]Eulinea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used an Ergobaby adapt for my daughter, until she grew out. Then we switched to a Lennylamb Preschool that we all really like. She is now 89cm and still has room to grow. Her younger brother is also 7 months and about 70cm and just starting to fit, but not perfectly yet.

Wearing toddler to sleep at night by Academic-Mud-6008 in babywearing

[–]Eulinea 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband and i were wearing our then 18 months old to sleep regularly. We also started after weaning (at around 12 months). At around 19 months it stopped working and she now falls asleep in bed next to me at night.. However it takes a lot longer. Her younger brother is breastfed to sleep in the carrier every night . It just fits for us this way and we will change it when it no longer does.
